in ways, he sounds a bit like Anduin, a gentle soul who prefers peace to war, words rather than steel, trading resources o'er trading blows. Azeroth needs a couple of those kinds of people, so that the bloodshed between the Alliance and the Horde remains a time of shame, rather than a constant, as we saw through the Time Warp event in DF what would have become of Azeroth, had we never stopped fighting.

Been a fan of Warcraft for nearly 30 years, this is some of the sharpest writing the franchise has ever had. I hope we get more from this author!

Dagren's not blond, he's an auburn-headed brilliant man with brown eyes and a nose in the books. One who can make everything he reads come alive. And while some may not see it, there's a talent there that should be more in demand. But I see him, I see you, and smile. Because you're great at this and you made an old granny cry with it. Thanks.

Dagran is Katt Williams, reading 9 books at once.

I can't wait to see what happens in the future. Will he keep the council and cement relations for their unification or become their King. Could see it going either way. I just hope he gets a magnificent beard as he gets older.

I wonder if the rulers of the wildhammer clan has a daughter around the same age as dagran i think it would be one way to unify all the dwarfen clans

When I first saw Dagran's model and read a little bit about him I was so concerned we were just getting yet another (Dragonflight) Kalecgos. IRL I relate to these characters to some degree, but I was not excited for a nerdy scared kid to be part of TWW; We're trying to stop the end of the world, do we really need a distraction about being yourself and whatever, again? BUT! I really loved this short story. He just sounds different, not "out of place."

This story is soooo good, the writing is amazing. Really hope to see more from Catherynne in the future

Dagran II has a legitimate claim of rule over Dark Irons and Bronzebeards, but what about the Wildhammers? I don't think they will see Dagran's ascension as a ruler as his heritage but rather as a "take over" of two out of three seats. His presence will definitely upset the balance of power in Iron Forge and I wonder if we will ever get to see it.

I think people misunderstand the purpose or role of the wildhammers with in the council. They had no intention for a powergrab they only wanted to maintain the status quo (backing bronzebeard)after magni got stoned. King varian with Anduin saw value in them when their pressence alone prevented a all out civil war in iron forge.(thats how i understood the powerstruggle in cataclysm). They act as one council but the short story makes its feel like power struggle between the dark iron and bronzebeard of who gets the last say in iron forge. Muradin really wants a fist fight with someone..... + Wildhammers got their home in the Hinterlands with hills, nature, being the shaman part of the dwarfs. They only have a settlement in Ironforge because they are the main providers for the explores leaque. Dagran and the leque are kinda friends with each other. So i think falstad would be satisfied if dagran can keep the peace in ironforge alone and he can go back to the erea peak.

@@marcoh703 I am not saying the Wildhammers want a powergrab, but as Council Members they get to have a say in all things that concern the Alliance Dwarves. So if they disagree with a point one of the voices is theirs. The Council is a three-way balancing solution so that all Dwarves clans (that we know so far) can be represented. Now if you suddenly got a leader who is both Bronzebeard and Dark Iron this balance is upset.

perhaps one day Dagran will choose a Wildhammer partner, that would unite the clans without a doubt.

I have liked every story from this series, and even LOVED the Anduin one, but this story and Dagran II have been my favorite! Thank you for reading this Pyro I looked for this as soon as I finished reading it!

I really relate to Dargan, he has the same personality and values as me. Also I really like the writing of this story, the way she describes things.

Not a TWW Spoiler but this is from the beta. Whoever it is they have got to voice act Dagran II he is INCREDIBLE. An instant top 5 favourite wow character just for being unique, interesting and so well acted.

Dagran of the previous cycle made it.

Funny how in this story they completely avoided the fact that moira is a priest, but i guess it wasnt important for the story

Im a femme who works at a corporation and I love how relatable Moira is, especially the part where she explains that she has to grasp extra hard for every crumb of power to prove herself to the men. And I also love the part where despite that, she knows not to overshadow her son's accomplishment by bringing up her own. Such a well thought out character. Its a shame that meatheaded dudes are already calling this story "softcore" content. SMH.

maybe, maybe not, time will tell, but this necessarily doesnt prove to be an epitaph. that being said we could lose anyone or any number of characters in the Worldsoul Saga, tis best to steel yourself, just in case.

First?

Pretending Moira is someone to care about and was not pretty terrible before was a . . . choice. Dunno if they remember Moira before now lol. Lady used her son as a thing to help her since vanilla all the way until her last changes in cata. Hopefully her son is interesting once we meet him in game :O I have liked the bits we have seen so far with Dagran. A softer dwarf has parallels to Anduin for some things.

side commentary during reading is annoying. but generally good
