A heavy first touch can sometimes become an asset, since the attacker has a better idea where the ball is squirting than the closing defender. Fernando Torres could do that when young and quick: let the ball ricochet off him and get to it before anyone else. Lukaku, in that brief window when he was good: his first touch was still erratic, but he used it to roll off a defender's shoulder. Dude this is so correct except u need blistering pace to achieve that. Also players like Lukaku and Torres work amazingly well against Liverpool and Bayern who keep space behind their offside trap. But City play possession and so slowly switch to a close quarter defense. Bayern would be killed in the PL, because of this. Liverpool is unique in their defense because matin and van dijk’s IQ is so good, their line moves so quickly that you can’t create that space very often, but sometimes because of this they concede goals. Remember how Lautaro and Sanchez exploited this in the UCL round of 16
