Hot take: Maiden's first two albums are actually pretty underrated. Sure, it's not as refined as their later work, but it still has some of the strongest bangers they've ever written: Iron Maiden, Prowler, Phantom of The Opera, Remember Tomorrow, Killers, Wrathchild etc. It's pretty beloved around here in Brazil Plus Paul is actually a pretty good vocalist and fitting in the style of the first 2(I actually took a photo with him :) ), despite Bruce being way better

Yes! The big weak point of that album is just how it's arranged. It starts out really strong (Lord of the Flies especially I feel is the most underrated Iron Maiden song of them all), but then there's three slow and somber songs about war, that together last 19 minutes and don't really feel connected to each other in any way. It bogs the whole album down and it never recovers. I did myself a different version of the album with better song order (also ditched couple and added one originally left out), and that made it so much better as a whole.

I was introduced to Maiden at age 10 with their first disc and been a fan since the very first track. I still remember going at lunch to get Seventh Son and being late to class listening. I did not buy the ones in Blaze but own multiple copies of all the others including Bruce's solo work and if you haven't ever listened to it Accident of Birth is one of the best discs ever (Adrian played on it) and it sound like 80s Maiden and shortly after is when they rejoined Maiden. The release of Brave New World came with such excitement and was definitely a breath of fresh air, as was Accident of Birth. Don't exactly agree with your list but close enough except for No Prayer... Holy Smoke makes that disk worth it! ;) Great video!!!

IMO possibly their best song. Hits every detail you'd want a Maiden song to bit, and does it over 18 minutes with Bruce hitting ridiculous notes throughout. It's their magnum opus. Best song.
BNW is without a doubt their finest album. Every song just goes so hard. Forming what is basically a supergroup comprised of their own previous band members was the right call.
I was listening to a NWOBHM playlist and all I could think of was that I totally get it why Iron Maiden is the most popular. They just did *everything* better than the other bands doing similar music. Song structure, riffs, basslines, melodies, solos, vocals (both Di'anno and Dickinson), just about everything was on point whereas other bands were lacking at least one aspect

Fun Fact: The first Iron Maiden release was a 7" EP called The Soundhouse Tapes released in late 1979, which had earlier versions of the songs that would appear on the debut album like "Iron Maiden" & "Prowler" but "Invasion" ended up getting rerecorded as a B-side to the single "Women In Uniform" & later restructured & rewritten as "Invaders" from "The Number Of The Beast", The original pressing was limited to 5,000 copies and ended up becoming rare fetching I think $2,000-$3,000 or $1,000 im not too sure, but there are unofficial pressings of the EP that were also released on colored vinyl.

@@Mowmauf Ha! That's why I bought the album!
I'm a major Maiden fan. Like you, they were one of the first Metal Bands I heard, and I first heard them around Brave New World / Dance of Death's released. My favourite thing about Maiden is that if you've heard one album, you've heard them all. You can guess where all the chord changes, solos, fills, etc are.
Totally disagree on Blaze!. He did an amazing job, considering Bruce was no longer there (+ Bruce did not return with his best voice IMHO). Still my favorite band, although I prefer the first half, esp. the 82-88 era.

They could've got whoever but Blaze, and pull it off better.
It's obvious that you've listened to some albums, but it seems to me that you're not a real Maiden fan because most of the time you don't know what you're talking about.
Seventh Son is easily my favourite album, but I'll tell you what, getting to see Bruce sing the Clansman live is a real treat, that song is incredible
7/8 in Alexandar the great is beacuse that is typical Macedonian rhytam
Babe wake up, Bradley Hall just uploaded
enjoyed songs from different albums actually. Such as Wrathchild, Children of the damned, Two Minutes to midnight, Wasted Years, The Evil that men do, Hallowed be thy name, Acacia aveneu, Somewhere in time...
Omg! That was the first Maiden album i bought too! I was around 12/13 years old and it changed EVERYTHING for me music wise.
Senjutsu is A tier IMO. I like the progressive elements in that album and especially love the song Hell on Earth. Saw them play that in Indio at Powertrip festival and damn it was good. I actually agree with the rest of your grades, but would move the D's to C's because it's Maiden. Even their bad albums are better than most bands good albums.
Senjutsu is a good album and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
Hey, will you make a Judas priest Ranking too? Iron Maiden done, would be cool if you also did their counterparts, especially as their new album is great
I still refer to Dance of Death as being "the new album".. damn I'm old
Personally Senjutsu and Somewhere In Time are both my favorites, but man the title track of Killers is probably one of my favorite songs ever Playing it on bass is super super fun and imo has one of the best bass intros/main riffs of all time. W band.
bloody love maiden, but they have essentially released the same album for 30+ years.
I love that they took the aggressive sounds that metal had been evolving into and made it fun.
"Weekend Warrior" soloing and bridge its amazing, very underrated track, just sounds like ACDC but this solo section kickass
Nicko has a restaurant in South Florida and is super cool to his fans when he's there.
When you said "Brave New World" is the best Iron Maiden album of all time, you spoke right into my heart. AT LAST, someone who agrees with me. Not a single filler on that album. Masterpiece!

I fully agree. Really every track is good on that album the rest of the albums just have a few good ones and the rest are annoying.
Aah, one of my metal gateway bands. I don't listen to them a huge amount anymore, but they were very formative to a young me, back in't day. Can't say there's a lot to argue with in your listing, personally, I pretty much agree with all of it. As a thought, I wonder what the ultimate Iron Maiden compilation album would look like to you, the top ten or so Iron Maiden songs that epitomises the very best of what Maiden have produced? That could be an interesting challenge, creating "Ultimate" compilation albums for various iconic bands with long careers and discographies.
Somewhere in Time is my favourite Maiden album and getting to see Alexander the Great live last year was amazing. Agree with all of the S tier albums. They are the albums I go back to most.
