My man.... would've spent way to long trying to figure it out..👍👍
The pellets they are taking out of the wood is from some termite or other wood dwelling creature who ate his tunnel into the wood, and pooped out or spat up the wood behind. This is actually good because there are tunnels pre-built in the wood so it makes it easier for the ants to dig out and it will also be faster. Judging by how dry the little wood/poop pellets look, the original bug is probably long gone or dead in the wood somewhere.

Hey, the accorn ants only make their nests in accorns that already have holes in them, usually those holes are made by wasp larvae 💪🏻, also oak-galls or oak apples are usually inhabited by Temnothorax and always have at least 1 wasp hole.
@HomemadeEcosystems
3 ай бұрын
Yes I know thanks! Some of the acorns I put in there had holes 😁that is also why I wonder what they are taking out the piece of wood because they don't dig in wood/acorns themselves so it aren't small pieces of wood
I still think it's sawdust, just covered in ant saliva. But this also comes from carpenter ants

I love your videos!!! 😊
Amazing bed origami at 1:30. The ants at the end of the video are taking gravel out of the tree. If you had bothered to read On the Origin of Species, then you would know that, when squirrels manufacture trees, they will fill the hollowed interiors with gravel. This acts as a ballast that minimises the risk of a tree being blown over by the wind (which is created by owls flapping their wings). It also serves to keep down costs.
