I had my brand new 1000 Mile boots upgraded and here’s why. The leather uppers were solid. The footbed was not real leather and the outsole was a low-quality rubber. I had new leather footbeds, thick leather midsoles, new split welts, and Dr. Sole outsoles installed. I wear a size 15 boot. There are not many boot makers that carry my size. I have a pair of White’s boots that are amazing, but it took six months for the boots to be made. My 1000 mile boots will outlive me. Yes, I’m an old guy.

Very nice Aaron. Shame about the welt issue on these Kangaroo leather is a lot stronger than cow leather. It doesn't have pores so there is less natural stretch. That's why it's the leather of choice for a lot of industries like whip making and football boots etc(proper football, not American football...!)

hey pal! great video! I think you did a stellar job on these Ottawa's. I have 5 pairs of GS's. I have 2 pairs of Diesel's and 3 pairs of Ottawa's. I love all of my GS boots. You did a nice job on the resole! It's the first resole I've seen with the Ottawa's and I'm going to reach out to you when I want to get my Ottawa's resoled because I haven't seen anyone else do a resole with the Ottawa's. Also, I don't know if you're aware, but I created a grantstoneboots subreddit and if you would like, you're more than welcome to post your GS resoles there. We are a young subreddit. Maybe these companies should have an option to buy their boots without welts, midsoles, or outer soles and heels! Might make this kind of upgrade a bit easier. What was that blue material you used to replace the cork?

Hijoles, con todo el conocimiento de causa y aunque soy mexicano no hay punto to de comparación en lo absoluto. En efecto son echas en China pero la mayoría de componentes son de Estados Unidos y otros de Italia tales como el cuero. Ojo no estoy diciendo que Thursday no sirven, pero es otra gama/rango diferente a Grant Stone Los iPhones son ensamblados en Asia y no por eso valen baratos Es la calidad la que se vende. Yo si me fuera a China a trabajar no cobraría más barato 😅😅😅 Saludos y gracias por ver el video , lo invito a que adquiera unas Grant stone brass boot y las compare con Thursday, que no sería justo por que le repito son dos gamas/rangos diferentes. Some folks are asking why the customer would resole brand new boots. I completely get it. As someone who owns a pair of Grant Stone Diesel boots with the lug soles, I can tell you that those soles are horrible in the rain and on wet floors. It's like wearing ice skates. I would rather pay the extra money and get them resoled than have a slip and fall that could be more costly in terms of money, time, and health. In fact, my boots are being resoled right now to the Vibram Londra soles, which are supposed to have more grip. I'm also thinking of resoling my Grant Stone Ottawa boots, which have the Dainite-like soles, because they slip in wet conditions and are hard (I sometimes have to stand for long hours at work). I might visit Aaron's shop for that resole since I'm about forty-minutes away and like the look of the Dr. Soles super grip soles. One more thing: the next time I buy boots (which won't be for a long while), I will definitely take the soles into more consideration than how the boots look. Otherwise, I'm always going to be paying extra money for the resole on top of the already expensive boots. Lesson learned.

While I don't see why people want to change up a boot as soon as they've bought it, it's their money and work for you so I'm not mad at them (although I'd wait until I've worn them and they need replacement). Really digging that contrast between the welt and that sole, looks great!

Kangaroo leather are great for football boots, indoors and outdoors although I have no clue why in the USA states like Oregon and now congress have pressured the manufacturers to stop using it. They are passing laws that could mean jail time which makes no sense

How do the Dr Sole soles compare (how soft or squishy) to something like the Vibram 100 or the original sole on an Iron Ranger? I had some 1705s put on my Iron Rangers because the original sole and heel are very stiff. Walking a lot in them made my knees ache.

They’re the same (Rubber soles) That 1705 is a totally different material, and is actually one of the softest and most comfortable Vibram soles!👍

Es depende la suela/estilo Entre más figura mejor agarre, todo depende de para qué use uno las botas , pero en general son buenas igual que Vibram. 🖐🏻

Gracias Mago, Lo eh comentado desde el primer par que compré y lo sigo sosteniendo,una de las marcas que más empeño y cuidado pone en la producción de sus botas (GS) esto que pasó en realidad solo era de unos ajustes quirúrgicos 😮😅 Use cuero (navy) por cierto, al estar tan delgada o casi nada profunda la cavidad puesto que casi traía boronas de corcho, opté por un pedazo de cuero, el footbed es totalmente de cuero en todas sus botas , hasta ahorita son mis favoritas y sino es que las mejores en su construcción y control de calidad Honor a quien honor merece. Do they make those dr sole XW soles in the white/off white?

Just saw another cobbler who did a video of a GS diesel boot resole. He showed that the boot has paper/synthetic material between the insole and the cork. Very disappointing. I was under the impression that GS didn’t use synthetic materials in their construction

Can a pair of Ariat Ramblers be resoled with leather soles?

Some people just have more money than they know what to do with.. Job security I guess. :)
