This took years for Ammar to plan... Such a delicate yet challenging jump, watch all the way to the end to see how he pulls it off... To celebrate, we created a collection called “Moonshot” on Seek Discomfort for the dreams so big they scare you just thinking about them... See the collection here: www.seekdiscomfort.com

I know this video is so flipping old, but this man’s story is amazing. He goes from a childhood dream, and makes it reality. He shows up and does the work no matter what he’s going through. Even through hard times like the crash and being scared of the outside world, this man lived through it, and still accomplished his goal. This man is the meaning of life, and you only live once, so live you life to the fullest.

I feel for you my friend. Each of us struggle in our own ways, and you are never “scared alone”. Some choose to hide their fears from others and that’s okay. Some fears are unbearable and bleed over into our everyday lives and that’s okay. For me, the key is to just accept my fears/insecurities for simply what they are… fears. Don’t let it stop you from living your best life. Whatever your dreams are, go for it. In the end, you’ll be satisfied with yourself regardless of the result. I believe in you!!

I've been in a car accident and it's terrifying, although felt nothing at that moment, now it terrifye me seeing a vehicle approaching mine. I've been the victim of an ambush for theft and chose to fight with a buddy instead of us running, one of the worst decisions of my life, almost lost a friend and probably my life, very expensive medical bills, etc... Such events shape us in ways we don't even comprehend, it shapes our world view and our perspective of many things, the fact he kept going after being a victim of such a horrible accident, that's passion and a will of steel, dude is tunnel vision on achieving his dreams despite horrible events, that's inspiring and you'd understand my comment even better if you've been in a threatening life or death situation!!

i remember my first HALO jump in 1992. It was the most amazing thing I ever did. The world so so beautiful when you are jumping at 34K ft. The air rushing past your ears is silent because you are just awestruck by the view. I didn't want it to end. Everytime I've made one since then it is just like the first. You can't fully appreciate the view from a video. It isn't scary at all when you are that high. I recommend doing it if you ever have the chance.

I got really emotional watching this, because I would always "seek discomfort" I loved feeling alive and was in my first really bad accident in 2016, once I started getting comfortable again, I was in another roll over accident a couple years after and it just shook me. Handling fear is a challenge, facing it even harder. Good for you Ammar, very proud of you!

  • @magicbjorn

Watching the first few minutes of this video I was only smiling and thinking: "what an amazing thing Ammar is trying to accomplish". But then, after the accident, I instantly had this lump in my throat and kept fighting tears back for the rest of the video. Watching the journey not only to go to greater heights for the skydive, but also through life. Sean was the perfect instructor with the right things to say. Then, at the slowmo during the HALO jump, I just started tearing. Remembering all the things Ammar went through to get to this point. Finally living his childhood dream, it was just too much. I am glad he got out and down on the ground okay, but man... What a turbulent journey that was. So glad this got shared, with the amazing editing to boot; the video is so well put together, capturing all the emotions perfectly! This has really sparked the mottos "Love over fear" and "Seek discomfort". This video will always be remembered when getting to the highest of heights!

I grew up with my dad telling me bedtime stories about his skydives, he always said there was "no greater feeling of freedom" but when my dad was 38 and my mum was pregnant with me, he got into a serious skydiving accident. His friend died and he barely survived. He never went skydiving again and now he is retired and claims he is "too old for that stuff". But deep down the whole family knows that's not true and he misses it a lot. My dream is to go skydiving together with my father❤

Happens a lot with pilots. You do something that you barely survive, or you watch a friend die doing the same thing. Sometimes you lose the ability either mentally or emotionally, to do any of it ever again, even though it's something you loved. It's an unspoken rule that when someone retires from something like this, that the subject is no longer up for debate or question, it is what it is and there's a tangible reason for it. If you're not confident and comfortable in a high stress environment where your life is on the line, you absolutely do not belong there. Don't push him, and don't question his reasons for not doing so. If he's at all interested, he'll let you know in no uncertain terms. Best of luck either way.

I actually had tears in my eyes when you exited the plane because I know that feeling so well and I miss it so much. It is my favorite moment of jumping. When I was in younger I used to be really afraid of a lot of things, afraid to speak to people, to stand my ground. I had very low self-steem. I used to lie, I would invent stories and tell them as if they really happened because I thought my real life was boring. I remember always thinking "I would like to be like that brave person, do parkour and tricks" "Oh I wish I could speak to people and not be petrified, I wish I could stand my ground and set boundaries" , I thought "oh that's for special people" Then I went to therapy and did like a 180 of my life, instead of just dreaming I acted. After a while and by exposure I was no longer petrified and I learned to set boundaries, I learned a lot and the constant thinking " I wish" it was mostly gone. I had become a person that I could only dream I would be, that I thought it was impossible for me to be. But I buried some of my dreams - the ones that took the most courage like parkour - still saying to myself that only special people do those things. I convinced myself not to seek discomfort argumenting that this new me was fine and change was too difficult. While I was watching Ammar, and for a while now, I had a moment when i thought again "I wish I could do that" and then it hit me, it felt the same way as before and I realized, I'm in front of the same gate again just in another level. I feel like avoiding it but I know is time to seek discomfort again and be brave. Thanks for reading. :D

However, it took its toll, mentally as well as physically. I became introspective, drank too much and ruined my relationships. I was overweight (260 lbs), unfit and unhappy. It sounds like a cliché, but I stumbled on your videos and they inspired me to at least 'try' to change. One of the things I always wanted to do was skydiving. In my 20's, I missed out on the opportunity and then life happened, I forgot about it. But seeing Ammar's videos, all of your videos, inspired me to become better and be the person that I want to be. I set myself a goal: lose weight, get fit, become a skydiver. The first two, I have achieved. The third begins on July 10th. Thank you for being such extraordinary people and inspiring thousands who you will never meet. Much love and gratitude.

My name is David, I'm 20 and I live in Barcelona. Since I was a small kid I've always been scared to die. I'd panic attacks 6 times per day I wasn't living because of this. One day, I became aware that the best thing I could do to fight against my fear is to follow my dreams and do what I can possibly do till I die. I would say that you guys played an important rol in this. The truth is that I want to be the Prime Minister of Spain. Everyone that I tell this starts to laugh, but I definitely will fight to achieve my childhood dream. One day I though to myself: well, there's always a crazy guy that thinks that he wants to run the country. So I decide I'm gonna be that crazy guy. Now I'm studying political science witch means that I'm one step closer to my goal.

I seek discomfort and tried to learn few skills that i can use to survive and earn money since I didn’t finish my study due to poverty and broken family problem.I barely speak English but i have to try, now I am a performer at a Theme park here in Singapore. I learned to do acrobatics, dance, beatbox and now I’m flying FPV drones and learning Videography. I am now a bread winner and thanful to God that I can provide for my family, I never dreamed of being rich. My dream is to travel the world be connected to inspire people and spread positivity and keep learning new skills and share it with other people that maybe one day they can also use to survive. My personal moonshot. I was born with hydrocephalus, a brain condition that few very have, and brain damage is typical. It requires surgery, and often repeated surgeries, to manage. There is no cure. Facing this, I dreamed of finishing a PhD program. At age 29, I started, and at age 36, I completed and earned a PhD in Economics. It may not be as thrilling as halo jumping, but I'm damned proud of climbing my own personal Everest.
