I tend to agree (about pubic nudity in general, not directly exposing ones self specifically to children thats obviously wrong), only cuz they may be doing more damage to cause than anything. BUT! I'm also willing to seed the fact I'm not familiar with the celebration & it's roots or its evolution. Is it supposed to just be an awareness thing? As a muslim, this is not what our religion is about. It is kinda interesting to see this, especially the pride parade part as a European, or more specifically a german. I feel like over here people are way more comfortable with peoples bodys? I mean there are a lot of camping places or beaches or areas where you are allowed/encouraged to be nude (FKK is the german term) and people go there alone or with their children because it is not sexual. A naked human body does not have to be sexual and those places teach that really good I feel. If you go there everyone will be naked, you will interact with nude people and that is fine. It is not traumatizing or weird. I would even go so far as to say that it can be quite valuable. As a teen I never questioned if my body 'looks normal' or thought that models/porn portray the body norm, because from a young age I had seen normal people and knew, that the body comes in all shapes and forms. So I do feel like going naked to pride is more about celebrating being comfortable with ones body? Or at least it should be. People making it sexual are a problem. I get the point of mixing kink into it, as part of saying 'hey this can be normal too', but I also get why some people are less comfortable with it. But when it comes to being naked, especially if it is nonsexual...then it should be fine, because the human body is more then just a sexobject.

From a muslim's perspectives you are 100% right. It was disgusting to see parts of this video for me...especially when the young muslim boys who, even though they knew the right things, didn't practice what was preached. Our prophet PBUH told us to respect the rules, religions and cultures of the place you live in if they are different than yours; however, never lose your own faith. You need to respect them as human beings; however, never let them misguide you or get you to support their ways. As a Muslim, you do not have an obligation to change the beliefs of people wherever you go, and disrespecting those people are looked poorly in the eyes of god. But also...it is alarming and disgusting to see how some of the LGBT community are blind to the immediate consequences from the actions they portray through their events and literature. They are entirely misguided as to what a child can determine about its own identity and I fear some of them will regret their decisions and wish they had more firmness and guidance from their community. I do not know how we can get these two groups together to find a common ground but it needs to be done before people continue to get killed by these things.

Honestly, I feel like the biggest source of homophobia isn't from traditional values, it's from the generalization that all queer people are inherently hypersexual and very open about their fetishes, even to children. It's a small minority within the LGBTQ+ community, but unfortunately, it's a loud one. Anyone willing to display themselves in accordance to a certain fetish to CHILDREN no matter their gender or sexuality shouldn't have a safe space in a community all about acceptance of love (not lust) and the beauty of pure diversity.

first, i would like to say that being lgbt+ is not a kink nor fetish, and it bothers me that people see showing off their sexual kinks to children out in public as a way to show lgbt+ support. pride is supposed to be about supporting people who have historically been unjustly mistreated simply for having feelings for each other, and about accepting your true identity. improving body image and body positivity is certainly an element of that, but that applies to straight people too, and its certainly not about abandoning any semblance of civilized behavior and exploring your sexual fetishes in the street. that being said, as disgusted as i am about the weird freaks getting off on being publicly indecent, some of which probably arent even lgbt+, the kids at the end disgusted me even more. you know those kids were preached hate from their families and probably from their churches as well (and i'm not just saying that because they're muslim, because i know from experience that the same thing happens in christian circles as well). you can see it in the disconnect between them towing the line about being tolerant of others while at the same time being unable to recognize their own hypocrisy in saying that while they are out there to egg houses. that comes from observing parents and church leaders talk the talk from the pulpit while walking a very different walk in more casual interactions.

The gay flag is on private property. It doesn't matter if the flag offends your religion, legally you are not allowed to take it down. Public nudity is wrong no matter what your sexuality is, but showing affection (holding hands, etc) is not nudity and straight couples do that all the time. People need to look in the mirror and judge themselves before judging others.

I am a gay guy, and I don't think walking down city streets with your junk out is okay. I am sorry but sometimes freedom of expression goes too far.

I grew up in San Francisco. I rode the bus to work and it crossed right through Pride to get there. People with kids were on those busses. Their parents didn’t take them to celebrate pride but they still had to see genitalia and manbutt against their will. Young people in San Francisco don’t have a choice to be exposed to things like this. The city is known for being a gay Mecca. It is what it is. I truly do not understand why anyone would take young children to these events tho. It’s really kinda sick to expose them to adult situations.
