This week i'm attempting to travel across the uk for free to find my stick! My walking stick got me through the hostile norther expanse of Scotland. Unfortunately i lost it en route! Well, they do say "No man left behind" so its time to get back on the road, retracing my steps in order to find my long lost walking stick. Join me as i journey north in search of a stick.

Well done for getting your stick back. Great that people are still willing to help a stranger out with a lift. I used to hitch from Oban to Fort William every Wednesday morning. 9 times out of 10 ot would be the same people. I also have a soft spot for the place you lost your stick. Before Strathclyde park was built there was a Mining village there and I spent the first four years of my life in the village. Looking forward to seeing your next adventures. Safe travels to you both

That's something I would have done too Tom. You dont see much hitchhiking these days so it was encouraging to see that you managed it 👏🏻. The students at the university of Manchester used to do a hitchhike challenge called the "Bogle Stroll". The challenge was to see who could hitchhike the furthest in 24hrs from Manchester to win the prize. Anyway, won't bore you anymore 😂 Well done to you, it was definitely worthwhile

I’m not sure if you are getting ever more eccentric, trudging 500 miles to find a stick albeit via hitch hiking , or if you’re just plain nuts!! Goodness knows how your Romanian friend drove his truck the next day after the wild alcohol you both imbibed. I kept thinking “ I’m so glad Izzy won’t see this until Tom is safely there. “ And just when it couldn’t get any madder you start searching in a muddy ditch in the pitch dark to find the staff. Incredible. Crazy. Totally off the wall . I enjoyed it 😅😂. Kudos to the subscriber who identified where you had lost the flipping stick, what amazing followers you have. Safe journey home

You are very dedicated. In Late July and early August, I went, with my dad and brother, to Chamonix in France and didn't bring any walking sticks but on the first walk, my brother found me the perfect stick and it got me through all the walks we did. At the end of the trip, I left the stick at the house we stayed in (my dad's friend's holiday home) for others to enjoy.

When you hitchhike, Tom, especially when you’re going to Scotland, the sign should always say “Caracus”, as an ode to the immortal scottish movie Gregory’s Girl and when Andy and Charlie are leaving to hitch hike to Caracas, Venezuela, because there are so many more women per every man there. Caracus.

Enjoyed that. Good on you. We used to do loads of hitch hiking years ago with an Anywhere But Here sign figuring if you could make drivers smile at our sense of humour it would get us lifts quicker. It definitely worked. We used to go all over the place from Cornwall. I'll never forget the time we got a lift in the back of a 2CV6, sat in the boot facing backwards with the rear hatch resting on our chests with our legs dangling out the back, feet skidding over the tarmac as we came down the M5 towards Taunton. We were bonkers back then lol.

Hello again - it’s been a while ( you stayed in my house in Kerry 2 years ago). Pleased you’re still on your odyssey (and with Issy). That was a brilliant idea and beautifully captured the highs and lows of hitchhiking which was what most young people did back in my youth.i did Athens to London in 5 days as a 17 year old. Having just flown Ryanair Luton-Kerry for a tenner you would be mad to do it today but as you showed in your video you are richer for a genuinely life affirming experience. Well done. What next? Cross the Atlantic in a hot air balloon? Actually, I had a pupil who cycled lands end - John o groats on a unicycle (9 days) - just a thought….

Me and my grandson walk along that path and stop at that spot where you left the stick regularly, it was probably him that threw it in the mud as he's always throwing stuff in, the exact spot is on the path that runs down from the old bothwell bridge under the newer flyover and a few yards along its more of a ditch than a stream and is impassable for me in wet weather

One man and his stick. 🤣 My better half and me bought two walking sticks in Lourdes about ten years ago and got our names engraved on them. Roughly three years we went for a walk in our nearby forest park in Ravensdale, Co Louth, Ireland, and I 'lent' my stick to my then four-year-old grand-daughter. When we approached the bridge over the fast-moving stream our wee grand-daughter decided it would be a great idea to throw it over the bridge into the abyss. We tried to get to it a few days later but it was too steep to get to. We haven't seen it since. 🤣🤣🤣 Glad you had a happy ending.
