I have a wood carved wall brush hanger that I found over forty years ago. It has 1904 carved in it. I have always believed it to be for a man to brush his felt hat and his upper coat from dirt and dandruff. I keep mine by my front door.

oh my gosh! I have the plates, teacups/teapot/platter, soup tureen, and little salt and pepper shakers to match that blanket! A whole set from my mama! I think they’re called blue willow by Churchill ❤ Amazing find!

That blanket is my favorite thing you bought. I would have paid a lot for that. I clean my silvere pieces with a soft toothbrush and a little toothpaste. Just lightly clean off the verdigris. You don't have to take off the tarnish. The verdigris will eat holes in your piece.

Hi Danielle. The items that you thrifted are brilliant and I love the way that you styled them. The willow pattern tablecloth reminds me of the one my mother embroidered years ago. There is a story behind the birds. The story tells how Koong-se, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy Mandarin, fell in love with Chang, his low-born assistant. When the Mandarin found out he banished Chang and built a great fence around his property to keep his daughter in and Chang out. The Mandarin arranged a betrothal for Koong-se with a rich and powerful Duke, who arrived by boat carrying a casket of jewels as a marriage offering. While the Mandarin and Duke got drunk together, Chang broke into compound and escaped with Koong-se taking the jewels. The Mandarin, Duke and one of his men gave chase but the couple got away. They ended up living happily on a far away island where Chang made a successful living as a writer. In fact, he was too successful and his fame reached the ears of the Mandarin. He sent his henchmen over to the island where they killed Chang and set fire to the house, killing Koong-se who was inside. The Gods, seeing their plight, immortalised them as two doves which you can see flying together at the top of the Willow Pattern. Other elements of the story such as the Duke arriving by boat, three men giving chase over the bridge, and even the far away island can be seen in the pattern. Enjoy your new treasures.

I'm in England and my grandparents used to have one of those grooming sets in the hallway of their Victorian cottage. They had the housekeys on one of the bottom hooks and the poodle's lead on the other!

Danielle, you always find some of the best items. The large wooden spoon like item is a butter paddle. They were used in the process of making butter. You can read about them online. I have several of them and love them. I really like the little book “Home Helps” you put in the wooden box next to your stove. I really enjoyed this video.

Beautiful! Just be aware that if the sun hits that magnifying glass it will burn a hole right through that back & possibly start a fire. I left a glass water jug in my car for less than an hour, came back to find a giant hole burned into the seat!

The pattern on your blanket is blue willow. It is a popular china pattern. Nice find. That is my favorite. And the two birds on the blanket are doves said to be the lovers after they passed on. 😊

Danielle, love... verdigris is part of oxidation and the most it will spread is further down the piece that it is on. It won't spread anywhere else. It is a beautiful patina and I say keep it how it is 😊❤

Great Finds... The salt shaker needs to be cleaned. It would look nicer in your cabinet. Pour the salt out and clean it. I believe, the salt caused the discoloration. However, I would clean both; so they will match. Lightly wiping the silver cleaner off won't hurt it. They will become shiny, if you buff them to a shine. I like the magnifying glasses as well as the coffee and tea pot. However, I wouldn't sell either. The teapot could stand a light cleaning, in my opinion. I like how you styled everything. You can take some of those verdigris a way by ketchup, may be not all of them, but they'll look better. I would then polish them to even take more verdigris away and to get the tarnish back, put them in a bag with boiled cooked mashed egg. You'll have dark vintage looking patina.
