@@shoutingatclouds1050 I mean, things are expensive in any vehicle these days lol. I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze 2.0l turbo diesel, Some mice chewed up the vacuum tubes, $600 to fix it. Timing belt at 100k miles, like $1,600. Glow plug modular, like $500, tires, 1,000, I got quoted 1,600 to do brakes and rotors, I bought it all myself and did it still $500, granted I got nicer brakes. It's expensive to maintain any vehicle when you're paying 125-200 dollars an hour for labor and then whatever the parts cost. A Hybrid is gonna have its issues sure, just like a diesel will with emissions, and just like a turbo will with the turbos and intercoolers at some point and a N/A v8 is gonna just slowly nickel and dime you at 5-6 dollars a gallon for fuel lol. I also have a 2018 GMC SIerra 3500 crew cab long bed 4x4 with the 6.0l gasser, super reliable motor but after 45k miles of mixed use towing / not towing my trip meter that's never been reset since factory says I've averaged 10 mpg, actually it's like 9.8 but I round up. at 10 mpg over 45k miles is, 4,500 gallons of fuel, if we assume a world of $5 a gallon, that's $22,500 in fuel, more than half of what I paid for the truck brand new. If I drove 200k miles at those prices and same fuel consumption, it's 100k dollars in fuel, more than double what I paid for the truck. If you got 15 mpg instead of 10, it's 66.6k dollars, a savings of 33,000 dollars over 200k miles which is about the life of a good vehicle. You can replace a lot of turbos for the difference of 33k dollars and a lot of battery packs for that much money, also. And what if gas got to $10 a gallon? It is or at least close to it in a lot of European countries. You'd be talking the difference of 66k dollars. Moral of the story is it's all one half dozen or the other, you either pay for it in fuel, you pay for it in turbos, you pay for it in battery packs or you pay for it in diesel emissions equipment. Pick your poison. At least most handymen will be able to replace a turbo. Probably not a battery pack or diesel emissions though. Also as an example, I use a 2004 Chevy express cargo van 3500 for work, has the 6.0l in it gasser sitting at 336k miles it's been rebuilt at 300k miles though, but still original transmission. Now obviously gas prices have varied over the past 18 years, But lets assume for fun the new gas price average is gonna be 5 dollars just for easy math, if that van gets we'll be generous and say 15 mpg, over 336k miles it'd burn 22,400 gallons of fuel, or $112k dollars. If you could make that van run 20 mpg, it'd be 84k dollars in fuel. The difference of 28k dollars. 28k dollars buys a lot of turbos or battery packs or new engines or rebuilds. Now lets say you're Amazon, and you own probably half a million vans across the world. 28k dollars saved per van in fuel is 14 billion dollars. That's with a B. These companies both the ones building cars and the ones buying them for work understand just how much money fuel costs especially going forward as more and more Government tax fuel at higher rates and put more regulations around how to drill it and process it in an environmentally sustainable way, they understand fuel prices aren't coming down ever. The pandemic was a fluke but you can look at 100 years of prices it always goes up and it's always going to go up. Investing in technologies that get better fuel economy, like hybrids, small turbo engines, clean burning diesels (my diesel Cruze can push mid 50's on the highway) is going to pay off, even if reliability is hurt a little bit in the process. 10% hit in reliability, 20% fuel gains = 10% overall gain. I personally buy my vehicles with the thought of if the world ends tomorrow what's going to not brake down easily? Aside from the emission issues on my Cruze, I could overinflate the tires by about 30 psi, run at 55 mpg on a 15 gallon tank and push 900 miles out of it before having to refuel. 3 tanks of fuel I can go across the country to safety if I needed to without braking down. My truck would need its personal tanker trailer with fuel to manage that, but it's also very reliable as long as you don't wanna go very far if there's fuel shortages.

The reason that they went with the 2.3 l is because the alternator is mounted much higher the 2.7 l engine the alternator is the lowest point so with deep water fording and mud the alternator would be much more susceptible to water/mud issues

As for Everglades over the Sasquatch package... I would defer to your judgment. It seems logical that one would take into consideration the terrain they would be running on and choose accordingly. Certainly was demonstrated here the smash and bash damage technique is a costly one. 🤭

I was up in Drummond Island last week on vacation with my family and our Jeep JK Rubicon Recon, and we ran into the Ford Engineers at Pins Bar & Grill! Got to talk with a few engineers about the media shoots with the Everglades, and about the cool Eeyore & Piglet support rig and cut-off Bronco trailer! I recognized Marble Head North & South trail in the video, and we saw the Bronco tents when we were going down the trail on Wednesday-ish. It also looked like you guys went down parts of Log Jam and/or Nemesis trail. What other trails did you take? Thanks!

I find it real funny that they keep coming up with new names and models of the bronco yet people still haven't even received the 2021 first edition orders and no dealer has them in stock.

Do you know if the roof rack on this Everglades package will be a factory addon possibly in the future? I am so close to ordering a new bronco, but haven't decided on package or engine yet.

Ford should allow the option to put on steel bumpers for these packages. Would save folks some trouble.

The everglades is probably the best out of the factory model for offroad just for the snorkel and winch. I figure those two things will get you out of real bad spots on the trail. You could add those things to any jeep or truck but it seems nice there included. Great review from you guys keep up the good work

The snorkel is pointless in the context of water fording. There are control modules located right at waterline as is on the standard Bronco. The cabin also starts filling with water once you go hit about 27" of water depth. Its more cosmetic than anything, but its an excellent looking trim. The snorkel would be helpful in dusty environments though as it affords cleaner air to the engine. The winch is nice but you can get that on any model.

@@J_Madison according to Tommy on the podcast all of those were moved/re-engineered so the Everglades can have a 36 inch fording depth.

@@Clockwork0nions That's interesting to hear. I've had the Bronco interior stripped bare (seats, flooring etc) and it would take a tremendous amount of work to do that, so hats off to them. Water already swamps the interior of the Sasquatch package near max depth of ~33". Doorway entry is 27" up from the ground, so you get a lot of water intrusion if your door seals aren't clean.

I was very impressed until i heard about the engine limitations and no sway bar dissconnect. I would rather get a v6 sasquatch and fit the winch and snorkel myself. I wonder if its possible to get the cooler fenders to fit on the other models? Great vid as always

If Ford can add the 2.7L engine and the front sway-bar disconnect and sort out the front camera problem (blocked by the winch....) this would be an amazing vehicle. As it is, one has to wonder why on Earth Ford has gone 80% of the distance but balked at the things that would make this a great vehicle.

@@Redneck_Wizard that will never happen, no way EV will be "obsolete", it'll just be an option, especially since Toyota holds the most patent for solid state batteries and it's near production. If you hate it so much, just don't buy it, simple. I personally like BEV because I get to charge it for free at work, and there is only 2 hydrogen station in my country and the closest one is 840km away.

If the everglades is truly a trim optimized for overlanding, I think 2.3 is definitely the correct choice of power plant for fuel economy, although a diesel obviously would have been better still. Ford diesel doesn't seem to be hugely popular these days though.
