Thanks for watching guys and wishing me luck on this journey to saving my life. Don't worry about the trolls in the comments, they just want attention and most of them have been long-time subscribers and only post negative stuff, it's just how they get their entertainment. I have to succeed this time because of medical necessity so I'm going to stay the course. There will be good days and bad days and there will be days where I want to quit but in the end, I can't because the doctor won't cut on me and fix my problems in 6 months and get me off blood thinners unless I lose as much weight as humanly possible. Thanks for coming along on the ride, now to return you to your regularly scheduled Nerdgasm content! I won't be posting more weight loss content to this main channel in the future, it's actually an accident I uploaded it to this channel in the first place. If you're interested in following and joining my journey with pictures, daily videos, etc sign up at patreon.com/barnacules for $1 month to keep the trolls out, turns out most trolls are afraid to enter any payment information so it's a fantastic gate!

100 in 6 months is a lot man..... I lost 60 pounds between January and April, but I didn't have weight issues until my twenties. My advice.... Treat it like any other engineering problem!!!! I went with Atkins-Ketogenic, which Joe Rogan has some great videos on. If you want a REAL MIRACLE check out Jordan Peterson's daughter, Mikhaila Peterson. I don't follow many people online, but you were really helpful with helping me set up my PC, and I like your personality. I'll check your thing out... but I'm kinda harsh.

You're all over the place here, dude. First you say that you were fat and happy, then you talk about dealing with depression and being suicidal. You talk about the doctor telling you you're healthy because of blood tests, but say that they said you have to lose 100lbs or you're gonna die. And honestly all of the stuff you blame on getting older sounds more like weight catching up to you. You've got the right idea in some areas but then you contradict yourself and minimize problems or blame them on something else a few minutes later. Best of luck to you man but you can't make permanent changes without looking at things as they are and taking responsibility.

  • @Barnacules

Actually, it's far more complex than that when you factor in metabolism, lifestyle, age, starting size, hormones, thyroid, etc. You're right that if you take in less then you burn obviously you lose weight, that is just thermaldynamics in action and makes perfect sense. However, some people have hunger pains that are absolutely insane on low-calorie diets when they consist of the wrong foods. That is where a diet can help, eating mostly protein and fat actually suppresses your hunger and conditions your body to use its own fat stores rather than making you feel hungry. If you lock someone in a room though and only feed them 500 calories a day they would survive but they would lose their muscle mass and become quite ill but they would survive without access to food. But, I personally recommend using nutritional science to find a method that gives your body what it craves to suppress hunger while losing weight and eating its own fat stores. But, if you're super hardcore and like to suffer, sure, eat less, move more 😎👍

It's been 7 months since you posted this vid. Doesn't look like you lost the 100 pounds. So how much did you lose? Any? I know it can be hard. But dude, I gotta be honest...you don't lose because you're undisciplined. That's why you get crap from people. You have everything a person would need at your fingertips to make it happen, but you don't remain committed to it, which is why you never lose your weight. It's not mean to say so, just the truth. At some point, you have to decide to stick with it. Losing weight may be challenging, but it isn't complicated. It mostly boils down to food...you have to take in less than you burn and you'll lose weight. You don't do it because you don't want it badly enough. The reason I say all this is because although we can understand it's challenging to make these changes, it's tiresome to watch someone say time and time again, "I'm going to lose weight...join me on my journey!" and then time passes and nothing ever gets achieved. Get disciplined, make the commitment, be consistent and make it happen already. This is said out of love.

As a nurse and a nurse that has had weight loss surgery (meaning, I GET it!!!) fat and healthy really does not go well together. If you do a search on youtube or google for body scans of fat folks vs. thin folks you can SEE what your can't FEEL when you are fat. You may well be athletic and riding bikes and feeling good but the damage you are doing to your body ... you just can't feel it yet. If you look at a body scan of an obese person their kidneys are crushed, they still work but the damage is being done. Joints are crushed, you may feel well but you age much faster and the end result is what you are experiencing now. That is not caused by being healthy. It just isn't.

I know a lot of people are going to give you advice or troll in the comments here, but I want you to know that I believe in you dude. Getting healthy and being the best you can be is so important and I'm glad that despite your stumbles over the years, you're still actively pursuing a healthier life. The only thing I have to add is don't think of it as a journey or a challenge. Think of it as "this is how I am now." I've had the benefit of being slim all my life, but my physical fitness has become a huge issue for me recently. I work as a video editor and spend A LOT of time sitting in front of my PC. I've developed back issues, my eyes always hurt, I'm in awful shape... my lifestyle is finally catching up with me. Going forward I'm buying a standing desk, getting a weight set to work out at home with, and generally trying to reduce the amount of time I spent sitting around idle. What's helped me the most is not thinking of improving myself as something I'm working towards but something I "am" if that makes sense. Thinking about it as a journey always gave me the "I'll do it tomorrow" excuse to justify my laziness. Since I've stopped thinking about it like that, I've already started improving my daily routine. It's been incredibly challenging, so I can only imagine what it must feel like to try losing 100lbs. I think you're plenty capable of it and I wish you the best of luck. And don't forget to ask for help when you need it. If you struggle to do something alone, help can only make it easier.

I would like to suggest that 100lbs is a LOT for anyone in 6 months. That's 4lbs a week, which means you'll need about a 1800 calorie deficit per day. Essentially you would need to eat next to nothing. May I suggest you reach for a more reasonable number? Say 1lb per week?

Keto in the early stages (first weeks) does give you the 4lbs a week on the medium/longer run it will slow down to 2 lbs a week. I've gone through that for a while now and I'm eating more on a day than I was eating before starting Keto. Just more healthy to my body it seems. The thing behind keto is that you will not only loose fat weight by kickstarting you natural ketogenic fat burning machine again (this can btw be measured with strips). Most overweight people also hold up a lot of excess water in their body and in the first weeks/months you loose 4 lbs in a combination of fats+water retained. Just my 0.02

There were multiple complications, surgeries, being on a ventilator, being septic again and going in to shock and kidney failure. The last thing that happened was a clot that spanned from his groin to his knee. He’s home now and he’s worked so hard on weight loss. He’s now down 100lbs and the difference in his health and just well being has been awesome! It’s not easy but he works hard every day to make it happen. A lot of the complications he had were harder to treat because of his weight. You can totally do it!!! Hes been overweight his whole life and never had a complication until he did. As someone who has quite literally been obese as long as I've remembered, I've gotta disagree with your theory on being able to be fat and healthy, at least at a younger age. I've been quite obese my entire life, at my worst point I weighed 126.9Kg (~280lbs). At just 19 years old, I was told that I have type 2 diabetes. I had some scares with briefly losing sensation in a finger for a couple weeks and my left eye became very blurry (months later and it still is). To have my health degrade so fast at such a young age was shocking. I always pretended that things were okay, especially while I was still in a relationship. But after going through a painful breakup and going through that diagnosis, I finally woke up and began taking care of myself. 7 months later and I've lost 18.9Kg (~42lbs). I still have a way to go but I know that I've saved my life. I'm so glad that you're trying to lose this weight, and although keto is admittedly REALLY fucking hard, it is super effective. I guarantee if you manage to shed some extra pounds, exercise regularly and eat good nutritional food that you will feel so, SO much more energetic, confident and positive. From one fat guy to another, I hope we both can reach our ideal healthy goals. Best of luck on your journey!

From watching him, my 600lb life, etc. it always blows my mind how bigger people truly convince themselves they’re healthy. You never hear the words “obese” and “healthy” in the same sentence unless it comes out of a big personas mouth. I love this dude. I’m re-watching all his videos to help get into 3D printing. His kid has to be an early teenager now and he’s bigger than ever. I really pray he can turn it around but I don’t see it happening. If you can be obese and actually convince yourself your healthy because you can sit in a plane or rally car, that’s just as scary as the weight itself.

A lot of people overestimate the difficulty of losing weight. Scientifically speaking, based on the law of conservation of matter, all you have to do is eat less calories than you burn and you will lose weight Edit: I’m not saying it to be mean to anyone I’m just saying that most of these internet influencers are saying that the Keto Diet is the best way to to shit. It’s not, if you have been through a 7th grade science class you’ll know that you can’t get more energy out of what you put in. A 6 ft 250 pound person burns about 2700 calories a day doing nothing. If they eat only 2000 a day, they are burning 700 calories which is stored in fat per day. It’s and easy thing to do but so many people think that eating no carbs will help, which it won’t. Just eat 2000 calories a day and get half an hour of exercise and you will be golden Edit Two: I’m not saying it’s an easy thing to do, food addiction is a real thing and I went through it and still am. It’s extremely difficult for people to stop food addiction, but I’m only saying the facts.

Keto (LCHF) absolutely worked for me and it's still working. I didn't start keto to lose weight. I started it to get my A1C under control and discovered I was losing weight. I was 300 lbs in march and i'm now 222 lbs. The more I lost, the easier it was to get up and down. I can jog now, something I haven't done in years. The more I lose, the more i'm motivated to keep at it until I'm under 200 lbs. Carbs are the thing that causes your blood sugar to go up. Years of eating carbs taxes your pancreas causing it to have to pump out insulin to deal with the sugar in your blood. Because there's so much insulin most of the time, you body starts to become insulin resistant. Cutting the carbs is imperative to keeping your blood sugar normal as you get older. It gives your pancreas a rest and can reverse insulin resistance. It has the added benefit of making you lose weight. Your body has to re-adjust itself to burn fat instead of carbs. I went though about 2 months of constipation but that is over now and everything is good. Carbohydrates are the cause of diabetes and obesity. Cutting carbs is the cure. Look back to the late 70's/early 80's when they decided that fat in our food caused heart disease and heart attacks. Fat was removed from food and replaced with carbohydrates. That's when diabetes and obesity rates really went up drastically. So yeah, because it has done wonders for me, i'm a low carb evangelist.

If you going to the gym and something happened, you basically have to ignore it and still go to the gym, you have to think that nothing can stop you!!! That's what kind of mind you have to set!!! Be more active on top of gym, walking, play tennis, bicycle. Believe me diet !!! Its only half of a job you have to workout !!! It will make you feel better it will make you more energetic and it will definitely give you motivation do not just diet and do not just Eat Right... that's BS !!!!! Go to the gym do cardio and sweat your ass off that's only the way!!! And of course after workout do not eat McDonald's

Hey dude, you can do this. Start small by getting rid of the foods you know are terrible and replace them with something better. From there, keep trying to improve that little by little. Add in some exercise, nothing too crazy just exercise you wouldn’t normally do such as a walk to the store instead of a drive. Go walk the mall more often. Things like that, then as time passes and you’re comfortable with the changes, take it up a notch. Before you know it you’ll be eating super healthy. Small steps bro. You can do it!

Ill also add....dont fall trap that you need to stuff yourself with 70% fat to be in a ketogenic state. Primal edge health is a fantastic resource. High protein, low carb and fat to satiety. The less dietary fat you consume the more that will be taken from your body. The way Tristan words it is: Fat from your body not fat from your plate.

@@PapaVikingCodes That is one persons opinion. But the research shows otherwise. You do you though. His own doctor recommended eating in this way. Who also recommended not eating whole foods or plant foods? A balanced keto style diet involves green veggies, animal protein and healthy fats. Fasting is proven to be extremely healthy for repair and autophagy. Fasting and keto also helps fix insulin sensitivity issues, hunger is reduced as well. Insulin is a huge factor in hunger and ability to lose fat. Working out is always a great way to improve health but is not needed, if the ultimate goal is to drop the pounds. 90% of your gym success is done in the kitchen. The difference between you and I is ill commend anyone that can be successful in their weight loss, where as you feel the need to belittle because you feel your superior.

@@PapaVikingCodes Ive walked the walk as well. Everyone has a different path to the same goals. Nobody is saying your way does not work. But it may not be the right path for others. I tried for over a decade your way, and keto did wonders. Spend some time researching, you will be surprised what you come across. Your understanding of keto in your words is wack. Now im not advocating you change your diet to keto. You have your path take it, but don't discount others and the path they take. Healthier is subjective. There is many many unhealthy vegans, vegetarians etc. Being 70 pds less despite the path is healthier. Hopefully that loss continues people to continue onto a more healthy lifestyle. Dude, I believe you can do it! As someone who lost 80lbs on doc's orders and got in shape, I can tell you that the first step is to accept responsibility for your situation. You're the only reason that you're overweight, but that's OK; because you'll be the reason you loose 100lbs. I too went through the mental gymnastics of "I'm happy overweight," but struggled with depression and my self-image. Everyone trying to loose weight is on their own journey, but I think the 'trolls' telling you to watch whats going in have a point; at the end of the day it comes down to calories in vs calories burned, so feel free to have a piece of cake every now and then, but make sure you're within your daily limits. I believe in you man, I know how hard this journey has been for you, but anyone can do it! Keep it up and work on improving yourself, don't let the 'trolls' get to you, fuck em. EDIT: You know what would be the best way to disprove the trolls calling you a 'fatass', loose the weight and prove them wrong, worked for me and I know you can do the same!
