He was parked on a sidewalk, used a dropped curb/crossing point to drive off, walked across the road, walked in the road, but wants to criminalize you... He's the perfect example of a dirty cop if he does all of that on camera.

One thing I learned in the 23 years I lived in Portland was that the Portland PD was never there when you needed them, but they were always there when you didn't need them. @Lorie Lived near Portland for about 10 yrs. Now live in Western Washington. Portland and Seattle compete for “most progressive mindset” award. They have both degenerated to the point of being sewage tanks. The cops in Seattle (what few cops are left), will respond with force to a man recording them but will abandon an entire neighborhood (chop) in fear of hippies wielding a few sticks. The only cops still working in Portland are the ones who love the Presumed authority. They enjoy being bullies, and all bullies are cowards.

This behavior is law enforcement culture. It’s found in every police department nationwide. Some exceptions may exist, but their culture in the normal. I’m convinced that law enforcement exists to give the unemployable jobs. They likely can’t get a real job, one that provides goods or services and contributes to society. Instead, we pay them to violate our rights and rob us. They are worse than freeloaders. Once society sees someone taking a job as a cop, equating to being a failure (much like we do with working at McDonald’s for example) “you better work hard in school or in your trade or else you’ll be stuck becoming a police officer”, I’ll have more hope.

I love it when you ask a police officer something and they completely disregard you and go and ask you a question. Like you have no right to ask them a question. And they don't have to answer you. But you're supposed to answer them with everything and bow down to them. What the f***?

This is quite clearly a PD that is over-staffed by work-shy cops that ignore law and Police policy. This fine example of seemingly typical behaviour was led by a supervisor, which explains the out-of-policy attitude of the grunt cops beside him. His attempts to assume and criticise the work of BAT seemed to indicate a dislike for those that photograph Police and shows obvious biased assumption in dealing with members of the public he does not know or fails to investigate. A word of warning to all cops reading these comments, this sort of biased, bigoted behaviour will finish your career just as quickly as any use of unnecessary and extreme violence committed on a member of the public. Time for a clear-out at this PD.

Unless it's posted, it's lawful. This officer is this a liar, and doesn't have the authority at all to stop access. That would require the city or admin to create and approve it. He knew it too. He said "I'm not the one who puts up the sign."

And they keep complaining about how short handed they are. Look at how many cops stood around in this video. One officer watching him or interrogating him would have been enough. At some point they need to size up the situation, determine that nothing is going on, and go on calls. I'm sure there's plenty of real issues in a city they can be dealing with.

This here is 100% ACCURATE! I grew up in Portland, an the cops are messy af. My oldest sister dated a Portland Police Sergeant. Roger Axthelm. I never liked dude. He gave me the creeps from the get. He would always be there when I visited my family, standing in the middle of holiday photos in full uniform with a cop frown on his face looking like he had a mouth full of shit. When my kids were little, I didn't want them around his crusty ass and he didn't like that at ALL. My sister dated him for 8 years until she died of an overdose IN HIS HOUSE and he said he didn't know anything about it. I saw her autopsy photos, and she had track marks everywhere. They lived together- come on dude! Either he's stupid as hell and the worst cop ever, or he's covering shit up. I had a great dialogue with the Medical Examiner and his story just didn't match the evidence they gathered. I confronted him and he was PISSED. First of all, I told him that my mom will slurp his bullshit up, but I know what's up and he can't fool me. He started getting all huffy and I told him "Roger, I need you to stop talking to me like you just pulled me over. You don't intimidate me one bit and I know about every call you made to the ME, and how you were pushing about how she had covid, blah blah blah. My sister NEVER had covid" He was so pissed that I was getting info from the ME. He accused me of hacking their system LOL. Sorry that you never married her, buddy. I'm next of kin and you aren't. There was SO MUCH about the entire thing that was rotten, from doctored police reports to an Internal Affairs investigation that his buddy stuck in a drawer. But there is one thing that stands out to me the most. The day after my sister died, I called him and he told me my sister couldn't stand me. I hope you're reading this, Roger. I will never buy your story about how Lynn died. You didn't give me a chance to save my sister. Stick this video in your pipe and smoke it. These are your guys. A damn shame. All of it. Roger was the Sergeant who ordered Portland police officers to rush in and shoot a homeless man who had a knife and was threastening to commit suicide with it. When asked in court about why he didn't de-escalate, he said "Well, the problem is, I mean, deescalation is a -- is a great term and that's what we all use and kind of a buzzword,” Axthelm responded. “But we can't really work at, quote, unquote, ‘de-escalation,’ until I can make sure I have containment and isolation on this person and it's safe for the people -- for the other people who were in there.” He suddenly retired with no warning right before my sister overdosed in his house. Great leader, right?

One of the things that broke my heart about the night my sister died... of course Roger's police buddies showed up fast af and their report of the scene conflicted in SO MANY ways with that of the Medical Examiner. I read the original police report before it was filed. In the mist of all the bullshit, one of the cops wrote, "20-year-old son of the deceased appears nervous and suspicious". My sister's sons are black. Nervous and suspicious? He had just found his mother dead on the bathroom floor when he came home after playing basketball with friends. How is he supposed to act? I called Roger and told him that ridiculous, racist, mean part of the report about my sweet nephew needs to be gone when the official one is released. Several weeks later, after toxicology came back, the Medical Examiner put together their official report, including the police report. The comment about my nephew was gone. I live in CA, but grew up in OR. Because I wasn't there when she died in Roger's house, I requested the ME scene photos for closure. I had to see her dead before I could accept it. Those photos prove further that Roger did something to that scene. He found out I had the pictures, and told me to break the cd and throw it away. Ok, Seargant Creepy. It's not like I don't have a digital copy of every single document related to my sister's death, including the photos and parts of the report that I reviewed with an IA detective. There's a backup of the backup. Roger, you have a couple cop buddies that don't like you too much. I got quite a bit of info. You were going out to the bar getting shitfaced almost every night after Lynn died. Then you'd go into the station and demand that they find out who sold her the Oxy. You never liked me because you knew I could see right through you and you never intimidated me with your cop-speak and annoying nasal voice, and you didn't like it one bit. God I wish Lynn had never met you.

You have to remember she's a woman and hitting you even while you're standing 10 ft away is not an impossible thing.

I love how you control the conversation and put them back on their heels. They don't know what happened to them. You can see how their face changes to that of a 10 year old caught spraying the garden hose at the cat. Morons all. It's also telling that they know you are big enough to seriously hurt one or more of them if they try to grab you. Thanks for what you do BAT!

@@hungsolow7090 I live in the Netherlands, and police often have the same snobby, arrogant, entitled, condescending, disrespectful and authoritarian attitudes. The law works in their favor as well when it comes to ID-ing citizens. They can literally say in order to do my job I need your ID, if you don't give it you get fined, or taken and thrown in a cell for hours until they find out who you are. Multiple Dutch auditors already showed this happening and their numbers are, naturally, not large

Funny story, I was actually talking to a 20 year ex "head-agent" as we call it, I guess she would be the same rank as a lieutenant in the USA. We were talking about how I have influencer friends, that get ran up on by people on a daily basis while filming, screaming about license plates and wagging their fingers waffling about permission. This officer I was talking to agreed with those people, and then even said if there are kids NEARBY, she has the right to check my camera and see if they're on it. Which is just all not true at all. This scared me a lot, and I seriously considered auditing after that conversation. But I didn't, because as I said in my previous comment, the police aren't very cooperative. For some reason filming in public is very controversial, and a lot of people seem to think they know how it works. In the Netherlands the laws for filming are the same as in the USA, in public it's legal.

The reason for ID and badge number is that there may be more than one Officer Smith. Complaints need to be filed on the correct person or they will investigate themselves and dismiss your complaint since they can't identify the errant cop.

@david chapman You really need to get up to speed. Most police do NOT have their first names on the uniforms and the do NOT have their badge numbers displayed. Most have last names but some have their name tags covered or partially covered with equipment. Look at a few videos, see if you can link to a video where the cops have first, last names and id numbers displayed. Come on, it should be easy.
