This is so exciting to hear!!! Please don't stress too much about content while you're tackling vet school - always love seeing the content, but also don't want you feeling added pressure while trying to tackle something so important!! Keep us posted on any morale boosting needed, too!! XD I know veterinary education and the profession in general from what I've heard can be very taxing, but is SO valuable, so please let us know if there's anything we can positively contribute!!! (Love the Jenna Marbles shoutout, too - I echo the love and appreciation for her!!! 💜)

I'm so excited to be so early for a video. I love how loving and awesome it is to watch the rescue animals up for adoption transform from tiny adorable, loveable menaces into loving great, perfect, adoptable animals. We really get to witness the personalities emerging in every animal and that is so great because people can see what animals would fit into their forever home.

MARY!!!! I’m so freaking excited for you and proud of you!!!! I totally understand feeling like what you thought you were doing wasn’t right. Undergrad was hard and horrible but I graduated in 2017. I did nothing with my degree and got a full time call center job in 2018. Then 2020 happened. In 2021 I returned to one of the libraries that I worked at and now I’m almost done with my masters in library and information science. I will be 38 when I graduate. ❤

(Now, I’m 62, and although I could do it now, I’d have so little time to develop that profession, establish a business, etc. I’d rather TNR, run a rescue, or volunteer somewhere that specializes in cats.) I’m so happy that you are pursuing your dream. You will be an excellent vet. You go, gal!!

Congratulations, Dr. Mary! I am one of those people that’s still trying to figure out their life purpose and I’m 58 years old. I spent my entire adult life trying to pay the rent. I found jobs that don’t take skills, but that I enjoyed so I could at least be kind of happy. I was a Receptionist, a Waitress and an innkeeper. But then someone said I should go to massage school. And my heart jumped through the roof, but it scared me to death because I failed science in college twice. And my memory is shot. And I didn’t think I could afford it especially regarding time because I worked full-time. I ended up going to school every other weekend and paying for it with my tips from inn keeping. I was the only person in the class to graduate and go on full-time as a massage therapist. But I know it was meant to be, because so many people kept telling me how good I was at it. They said things like I have angel hands I have mothers hands I have the it factor. I think that was from me learning how to pet my cats just the way they love it all throughout my life. (my favorite compliment of all the compliments I got from clients because I got a job right away after graduation, was “holy shit!”). My point is I absolutely adored that career for as long is it lasted. You never know how things are going to turn out!

That little bit about how you forced yourself through ur doctorate even tho it didn't feel right... I felt that SO hard! I'm working on my Master's and I will admit that I only started it bc others thought I should and I didn't have any alternate ideas (I wasn't ready to be done with school or find a *career*) But the last 3 years I've been really fighting with myself to try to brute force my way through it and it wasn't working... Last month I changed my thesis topic I'm still gonna do my masters and finish but I'm starting over and researching something I LOVE instead of just smt I like that seemed attainable 😊

I only just discovered you a couple of days ago. I love what you do and your dedication, I love that you got a PhD and are now going to get to go to vet school. I wasn't a good student in the early years of college, so I never got into the vet school, but I did work at their hospital as an AHT for a number of years. I have rescued and fostered cats and dogs, and I know how to do the procedures that you do. I'm resonating so strongly with your adventures and what you do and what you want, you remind me of me as a younger person so much, it's almost like we're twins! But separated by several decades 😆 I love your humor and your attitude, you are a lot of fun to watch for me. Congratulations again on getting into the vet school. I know you will be a wonderful vet.
