    not sure if she had it off bat, but as soon as Lynch played the Mana Flare, it looked like the gears were turning and Rachel probably figured she could take the game in a couple rotations if she played it cool. Honestly though, playing a card like "Mana Flare" in a pod that's less flashy and more aggressive / combo-tastic seemed like a really bad idea. Its a fun card in casual, but this pod is in no way casual.

  • @Dragon_Fyre

    @@MovieManiac67 He was trying to get Gishath out fast, because it basically crushes the board once it does. Since likely no one had creature removal (no one stopped Kaalia) he could have potentially won in a few turns himself. Orvar could have just created sapphire medallions on its own and once she had 3, the combo would have gone off all the same. Mana flare really only sped up her win by a turn.

    @@Dragon_Fyre Not really. Mind Games requires UU, so no matter how many medallions she has she needed her lands to tap for UU to get infinite lands. The Mana Flare play was bad, but if you haven't seen Orvar in action it's easy to think they aren't doing anything with islands and a sapphire medallion.

  • @MovieManiac67

    @MovieManiac67

    @@Dragon_Fyre Mana Flare accelerated both Orvar AND Kaalia, so Lynch really wasn't doing himself many favors with that. Plus, he's got access to green, so he should have plenty of assymetrical ramp in there. Again, not dissing the card, it's both helpful and a funny card in general, but "Mana Flare" helps it's opponents way too much in a pod this spikey. I'm pretty sure they've established that the average win in this series only takes 4-6 turns, undisturbed (if that)

    That's how I play all my EDH games. Quietly sit there while Joe's of the table overreact and draw all the attention away from you. My most recent example of this was a couple months ago I was playing my Yahenni deck and drew into Triskellion when I already had Mikaeus on the battlefield for multiple turns. Because I don't call attention to myself, I was able to assemble the combo for the win. That is honestly the best way to win games.

    Definitely not that quickly, but Rachel already had an infinite land token ready, so there had to be a way to achieve infinite land in her deck. Edit: Whim of Volrath would've done it.

    Channel is always fun to watch! May have been a little power gap / threat assessment. 3 non blue decks against a combo Orvar. Plus there were 2 copies of Sapphire Medallion out. I would have liked to see more interactive decks play against Orvar or it should have been archenemy early on.

    9:52 Aurelia actually untaps your creatures on her attack trigger, not at the extra combat. You can still stack it so it sees the creature you play with Kaalia, but it could influence other things
