So I always love to brag about this, when my wife and I got married, I reached out to Debra Wilson (voice of Savathun) on Cameo for a wedding greeting for our ceremony. This woman *DRESSED UP* and *SANG US A SONG* in her beautiful dulcet voice. She even delivered us a wedding speech in Savathun's voice (even called herself "Aunty Sav" as my wife refers to her) Debra Wilson is a bright shining star for us and one of the most kind, giving celebrities I've ever interacted with. Her voicework is STELLAR and I will always be a huge fan of hers.

That’s absolutely incredible. Debra is such an amazing actor and just so cool overall.

The sacrifice that Mara was talking about in the intro was throwing basically the entire fleet of the Awoken's Corsairs at meat grinder AND using her celestial Harbingers (the white lights she shoots off) to attack Oryx's ship. The Harbingers are actually like living stars, they feel, think, and commune with the Awoken... but not any more :(. Similarly, Savathun never actually controlled the Taken. The Taken she used were spawned from Quria, who was a giant vex mind that in the past invaded Oryx's throne world because Crota underestimated the power of the Vex, which almost killed them. Quria was then Taken and destroyed, but, before it was it had simulated a copy of Oryx when he was still Aurash (his younger self before obtaining the power to take). Taken Quria was given to Savathun as a gift to study all its knowledge of the Vex so that she could use it against them... not knowing that the simulation of Aurash included his entire journey to obtaining the power of Taking... which Quria was then able to replicate. Savathun uses Quria to aid in the time manipulation of the Dreaming City as well as deploying Taken in the Dreaming City, which was made easier by Riven's wish. You also saw the same results from Season of the Splicer with the Endless Night, but without the infinite curse or Taken deployment. Savathun's charade: 1. She puts you in direct contact with Crow (Uldren) who saves Osiris 2. She tells you to go to the Spider to confront her sister by using the energy of The Fang of Xivu Arath to make runes to hunt Xivu's Wrathborn 3. This helps you save Crow from enslavement 4. She sets up the shard of the Traveler for Crow's memories to come back as visions of his past (both as Uldren and the original Crow from the original Destiny 1 pre-alpha script) 5. She puts Zavala in contact with Caiatl and actively antagonizes her with murmurings of suspect betrayal if they made an alliance 6. She uses the cabal armistice to go explore the Glykon ship near the emergent darkness gravitational pocket of the disappeared Mars. 7. She cashes in on the gambit of letting Calus have the Crown of Sorrow to figure out how "the Entity" operates and their current situation 8. She uses Osiris' remaining good faith in the city to contract Eva Levante to make Crow a new disquise so he can operate in the city and the Vanguard 9. She uses the Crown of Sorrow deep storage containment as a means to let Ikora give him access to the Vanguard's Hidden archives 10. She gets Lakshmi-2 out of the picture by corrupting the Future War Cult's archives with subliminal messaging of her song All of her plans were very deceptive, but still resulted in some slight miscalculations: 1. Crow believes in us and is not just a complete pawn of hers like she expected to levearge against Mara 2. We made amends with the Cabal 3. We made amends with most of the Eliksni 4. She lost Quria, which was her main weapon against Xivu Arath

@terabellum it gets worse, being a god of something is not just a title, savathun invented something called imbaru that makes it that so if you believe a lie about her/that she told, or doubt a truth about her/the she said, she gains power, she quite literally is the god of trickery, she likes to mess with us because it helps move her plans along, but it also just makes her more powerful

In your last video, you mentioned how one of Osiris' lines sounded like it came from Savathun, and man how right you were.

One of the most heartbreaking pieces of lore from this season involving Saint and Osiris was the legendary bow “Wolftone Draw”. The tab reveals that Osiris was conscious the entire time Savathûn was him, and he could see through her eyes but could say nothing. “I hear his voice and push to the surface. Saint. No no NO! I scream but there is no sound. He looks into her eyes, he smiles, he reaches for me but it is not me, Saint, that is not ME, PLEASE, please- I am weeping but I cannot weep. I am nothing, only heat and hate, only sickness and shame. "Trust me," I hear my voice say, and I drown again.”

Ager's Scepter should be available through the monument where you redeem exotic chiphers at the tower. I'm really looking forward to your witch queen campaign, I'm sure you'll have a great time seeking out the truths Savathun has hidden

No, she actually went to oryx's throne world, and when he died, she stole all his throne world juice and then went back to elucinia

Savathun's transition from the background written lore to the screen was done so well, and for all of her line delivery in this season already as good as it was and for all the theories you may have I can guarantee you'll have your mind blown playing through the Witch Queen Story!

The story Mara is telling is the story of the Awoken race, including Mara and Uldren. They did in fact have heavenward domains where so long as the awoken stay there, theyre immortal. We dont know how old Mara is, or really any Awoken are because of those distributaries. The shore they fell upon after the storm is the tangled shore.

20:29 for some clarification you've probably will/have heard the word "Paracasual" or "Paracausality" thrown around, it's the name for space magic that characters use like Light or Dark, in other cases there's characters/things that are magical entity's essentially, like the Traveler or the Black Fleet/Voice in the Dark

You can also get a few from the Season Pass, but at this point in time you would need to be actively playing the current seasonal content if you wanted to level that up quickly before the current one disappears.

I love mara so MUCH. She goes through a very beautiful character arc from this season to now😢

I was so excited to see this!! One of my favorite seasons. It also brought some lore about what Osiris was experiencing which was really sad. Also I like to think that Savathun just gave Osiris back out of spite of the worm gods after having to lie for so long.

Time to meet my favorite character in all of Destiny the highlight of this season.

Savathun is easily one of the best best characters in the whole story, shes so well written and her whole motivation and plot is great (which you'll get to learn very soon), and its actually crazy how you can look back on the past seasons and see so many clues, and so many things "Osiris" says that have double meaning. But I also love this season because its basically the set up for the last act of the saga, Savathun is now front and center, the black fleet is here, and the game is all but screaming that whatever "entity" is out there, the voice in the darkness, the thing between stars and whatnot is coming. And the fact people like Savathun are worried about it just sets the stakes. Season of the lost is great playing/watching it for the first time, but its also crazy how many things it directly sets up and hints at for the future even a thing or two that only got fully reveled recently. Can't wait for you to do witch queen its great from a writing and character sense, but its also kinda just filled with bombshells and reveals about some giant questions, its gonna be fun

Can't believe you posted this so soon. Nice! I mean, a sacrifice doesn't have to be death, and as she details in the intro, she lost her fleet, her people, her city and way of life and also her brother, because Uldren is not Crow. She gambled everything on us and Eris to take out Oryx and it blew up in her face, allowing Oryx to corrupt and take not only her Throne World, but also her Ahamkara. She was stranded in the Ascendant Plane for for years before she returned in Forsaken. All of that led to Savathun striking a bargain with Riven. Riven manipulating Uldren, nd all of Forsaken happened, plunging the Dreaming city into the taken curse. Savathun does not command the taken directly, despite her being called the Taken Queen. She controls the taken and briefly the vex using Quria. Now that Quria is gone, she no longer commands the taken. The control over taken does not even lie with Oryx, the taken king, ass he was given that power by the Voice in the darkness.

1:02:56 When crow said I hate to play into the stereotypes, I think he's referring to the hunter class stereotype of them not wanting to be in the same place and always off on their own and wandering wherever they want. Which also makes Cayde's statement just before he dies "The Vanguard is the best bet I have lost" kind of amazing since he's not always free to roam around wherever he wants and has to be a mentor for all other hunters in the tower since he became a vanguard.

Honestly I enjoy the story so much more watching along with you, doing all this story was one 30 second conversation a week for like 12 weeks, but altogether without the constant waiting is so much more fun and interesting

4:40 only the taken king could truely control the taken. Quria is a special vex mind that was designed to study the hive and their sword logic and even used it before oryx took it and gifted it to savathun. It is powerful enough in it’s taken form (or at least I believe this is how it works) to simulate the ability to take and manifest it for savathun to use as a way to control/take. Without it now savathun can’t do that.

I love seeing this and seeing all the warning signs and foreshadowing of what happens in the future.

Savathun has seen the bigger picture, she has outgrown the worms, worm gods and Xevu Ariath. But above all else she is very much like Crow they will forever be connected SAVATHUN and Crow.

Savathûn has never actually lied as far as we know. but we do know that she gains power when people underestimate, or overestimate her... Embaru is about her cunning being more than yours. so as the Queen of lies what is better than always telling the truth, the one thing no one would ever believe from you . even if they did you can never be 100% sure so she always wins.

I think that's what makes her such a compelling villain. By all accounts, she's doing GOOD things, but just knowing she is the hive God of trickery makes even her good actions feel so threatening. 😅

Of all the deceit that came from Sav, the whole arch with Crow is the one time I truly believed her intent was that of kindness. She really did/does care from him and I think Mara knew that fact and it irked her so much because she knew it was the truth.

As we now head into the Witch Queen DLC, I will leave these words with you. "Nothing is harder to hear than the truth... coming from a liar's mouth"

A lot of lore behind Mara/the kestrels here is better explained in the “Marasenna” book from Foresaken. It essentially details Mara’s creation of the Awoken and how she hid her god level power for centuries from them while she guided them towards her own goals. Uldren was always a tool for her, I think she’s only here starting to realize that and make a change.

Next is the witch queen DLC, you’re not gonna be ready for all the lore of the Hive of Savathûn but no spoilers😁

This is late so I don’t mind the potential spoilers to a like 3 year old DLC. 1:26:06 he’s not kidding. There’s a future lore tab where he went to where she was held. Had her rezzed. Beat her to death. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Untold times. And then just left. Saint 14. Repeatedly killed a hive god with his bare hands. And. Left.

Honestly it was this and the playable missions in season of the Spicer that were my favorite because they were playable six-man activities I honestly like doing missions like this that aren't raids but let you have a shit ton of people doing their own thing and tearing shit up

Savathun also is the only creature that has a special power called "Imbaru" it a power of ignorance and lies. Everytime ignorance or lack of understanding in regards to Savathun ahe gain more imbaru thus she gain in power. She actually has a "Imbaru Engine" that you can go play right now in deatiny 2 . Its so purpose for powering her up through tricks and lies. Savathun is a great character

You can get the ager's scepter from the Monument to lost light in the tower (right next to your vault), but it costs exotic ciphers and ascendant shards which might be hard to come by for a new player.

I started my Destiny 2 journey during the Season of the Lost. This brings back so many memories, good and bad.

What is a greater deception than telling the truth when everyone expects a lie?

you can get eager's scepter and any exotics from the exotic kiosk, the gold statue thing next to your vault spot in the tower, of course you still need to get a few things, an exotic sipher that you can ether get from xur (the one that appears in the EDZ/ the tower or nessus, not the one from dares of eternity) or the battle pass, 125,000 glimmer and 1 ascendent shard (the golf ball) not everything costs the same, but take your time and you can get as many weapons from the kiosk, as well as some sunset weapons or ritual weapons you may have missed and their ornaments. but to go back to this topic, getting context for all the seasons i've missed along side you really makes me appreciate the characters more! really feels like they could put these in a story section of the menu or something cuz there's a LOT of context lost from not viewing some of these, and i wanna view them as my guardian, not someone else's, i dunno maybe it's just me.

Ager’s Scepter is in the exotic kiosk, just requires some materials but you can definitely buy it and it’s pretty good!

Compared to story history, I figured today I'd talk about a bit of gameplay history: specifically, one of the two big things that came with The Witch Queen, that being the introduction of the 3.0 subclasses - from Beyond Light up to this point, the three main subclasses each had three specific "path" nodes you had to choose between as a bundle, with each also having a specific and limited selection of grenades. Witch Queen was where Bungie decided to go back and rework the original three subclasses into something closer to Stasis customization-wise, which is what you can see today if you were to load up Destiny 2. They introduced these reworked subclasses on a season-by-season basis - The Witch Queen and its accompanying season dropped with Void 3.0, Season of the Haunted introduced Solar 3.0, and Season of Plunder introduced Arc 3.0. Some classes gained abilities with these reworks, while others lost some, but in the time since I think people have mostly come to accept all of these changes for better or worse. Also, if I remember correctly, the second and third Beyond Light seasons dropped with new fragments and aspects for the Stasis subclass, which is a pattern they would repeat in the seasons after Lightfall. anyways, that's my rambling. tune in next time for some talks about the OTHER big-ticket feature from Witch Queen, and the one which (unlike the 3.0 subclasses) has been recieving additions ever since.

Remember this is the same Savathun that tricked Uldren pretending to be Mara to open the dreaming city and curse it.

if you go to the tower and go in between the two vaults there's a thing called monument to lost light and go the the beyond light tab (the last one on the first row) there you will find the scepter

It's pretty good for stasis builds - some people even believe that its catalyst perk, which lets you use your Super meter to put the gun into an overcharged state, is a better use of a Stasis Warlock's super meter than their actual super (which is a bit of a shame, because the SFX for Winter's Wrath are fucking amazing).

When you get a chance you should go back and listen to the moment we kill Quria inside the mission, people start talking and commenting right when it happens in game including osiris. For me that was when I truly realized something was wrong. "Osiris" sounded so defeated and I was like hello??

When you remember the dreaming city is stuck in a loop forever cuz of savathuns trickery D: and the victims of her trickery are here helping her because they don't have a choice

At 13:00 bungie used to make seasonal activities that were 6 players but not raids this has stopped for sometime now though as players were mixed on said activities

Just want to mention that Savathûn only possessed Osiris during the events of Season of the Hunt after Sagira was destroyed.

1:23:45 "of course!" Mmm, not so fast. Mara Sov is older than Savathûn. Mara Sov created an entire universe inside a singularity. It's been strongly implied that Mara Sov damaged or destroyed a Pyramid Ship - keeping in mind they're so impermeable Rasputin's full firepower has zero effect on them. Mara Sov is a very strong contender for most powerful being in the Destiny universe. And she and Savathûn have a great deal in common and have been engaged in a multidimensional battle of strategy for years. If there's anyone who could match wits with Savathûn and win, it would be Mara Sov. So, no, it's not necessarily assured that Savathûn would outplay her. It was a duel she _could have_ won, which makes her failure that much more devastating.

You should read the Marasena and Awoken of the Reef lore books, they go over the history of the awoken

So remember when in Season of the Chosen, Osiris said he’s had to walk the City streets in disguise more times than he can count? Yeah… I believe someone has actually put together a compilation of every time Osiris was sus over the past year of seasons and it’s a lot more than you’d initially think. The benefit of hindsight and all that. As for Savathûn, like all Hive she will die without her worm. As a species they’ve been bonded for so long I don’t think they can live without them. However Savathûn is tired of her millennia of conquest and the threat of death of her worm eating her should she falter. It is interesting she seeks to be free of it knowing she is likely to die. But then again, she is the crafty and cunning one. It goes without saying she is not to be trusted….. even if a lot of players at that time believed her wholeheartedly. And yes, her actress absolutely KILLS it at the role. An absolutely phenomenal performance. Crow’s story is such an interesting look into the argument of nature vs nurture. Is Crow fated to become Uldren due to them having the same nature, or has his time with us changed that trajectory. How much did Mara change Uldren’s trajectory with how she manipulated and emotionally abused him? How much of what Uldren became was due to becoming corrupted in the Black Garden? In a similar manner I think this season also highlights how similar Mara Sov and Savathûn are to each other. One last thing I want to add. I don’t think I mention how much I enjoy watching these reactions. You pick up on a lot of smaller details that most people don’t and connect the dots much more quickly too. It’s a genuine joy to see someone throw themselves fully into the story and enjoy every moment of it. In some ways you’ve given me a new appreciation for it and a different perspective than my own. I look forward to seeing your thoughts and feeling as you experience The Witch Queen expansion.

Bit of a shame that more dialogue from the seasonal activity wasn't included. There's a bit where Mara asks Glint how Spider treated Crow. Glint is polite at first but when Mara encourages him to be honest he explodes with how awful Spider was. Mara then tells Petra to prepare, and when the time is right she is to "remove" Spider. Permanently.

Savathun never had control over the taken quira the dreaming mind had the power to take and she controlled quira. In the lore quira was created to fight the hive in oryxs throne world after crota accidently let them in. Crota was losing the battle and the vex created the quira to beat the hive gods but oryx was pissed at crota so he came slaughtered the vex but quira simulated a young oryx that gave quira the power to take oryx defeated it and took it. And gifted it to savathun

Was wondering, have you/are you going to record your reactions to TFS trailers that have come out?

It wasn't until a more recent season that I appreciated Mara. She likes to go on and on about the sacrifices she makes. But the reality is that she sacrifices other people so she can become more powerful. She's presented as a sad, regretful ruler, but she has no problem using anyone and everyone for her own gain and personal power. By her own admission, she'll use anyone and everyone as a pawn, including Uldren, if it means she wins. The only reason I found her even remotely acceptable is that she's mostly on our side. She's a manipulative witch, but she's our manipulative witch, as it were. That said, I feel like Season of the Lost is the turning point in her personality.

i just watched your shadowkeep playthrough and you keep mentioning about eris and how you think she's gonna betray us, in that case i reccomend you read up on "The Dark Future" lore, its an alternate timeline that elsie bray was in, everything goes to shit, and eris does become evil

Oh boy. Haven't even watched the vid yet and still so much to say. One thing that was always at the back of my mind was Savathun saying as Osiris in presage that our human understanding of the Darkness is a facade as we don't even realise that there is a difference in the voice in the Darkness and the actual Darkness. Savathun dropped so many lines where you can come back to and be like "Hold up". She played her cards perfectly and got what she wanted, while also impacting us forever. This is the reason why Sagira died offscreen (which I still dislike btw) One more thing: Saint will never forgive Savathun. Season of the Witch lore showed us that (about 2 years later) A little side tangent on Quria. I always had an icky feeling about her (like she was playing the perfect being without being one) but this just made me mad. She always blames other while being hailed a god, yet she cannot grasp the consequenses of her own action as much, even going as far as blaming us Petra on the other hand? Shes a keeper What i find deeply sad is the Lore of the seasons. It shows Osiris being very distant from Saint. You now know why, but it has hurt Saint and he will never forgive her for this. And he will be at Osiris' side each second he can spare

Don’t want to get your hopes up too high, but witch queen is by far the best story in destiny as a franchise since forsaken, and is possibly an even better story depending on your point of view

I'm currently in the middle of Witch Queen now, and I've been told to treat Lightfall like a beach episode because it doesn't hit the same highs as I'm hitting now. 😅 So don't worry, my future expectations will be tempered!

Also, honestly, for how like, useful and knowledgable Mara is, I genuinely absolutely Abhor her. The way she often manipulated Uldren, and a lot of her people, the general, Larger Than Life view she had of herself and everyone around her, I hated her for it. Despite the fact that it was necessary in some ways. I do really like Mara's character arc as she meets Crow again, and everything that develops in the coming seasons. I guarantee you'll like it.
