I had to save her, says Lamekia Lamont's biological mother

#Gleaner #LamekiaLamont #Missing
MARCH 31, 2021: Camille Blair said she cried daily for her now 13-year-old daughter Lamekia Lamont who she felt was happy with the couple whose care she was entrusted in, but when she learnt that her fifth child wanted to harm herself, she decided to take her, thus prompting a missing person’s report which went viral over the weekend.
Blair, 38, said she was unable to provide for Lamekia as her job was unstable and so she agreed to allow her to live with Obadiah and Millicent Lamont at their Central Village, St Catherine house. Obadiah was Lamekia’s God father and the couple was good friends with her mother who lived nearby.

She has turned around her life and God has blessed her and she is content with her blessings. Also her friend who stood by her side throughout her trials is wonderful to see. Let us leave judgement to God and just learn to be kind to one another. There are so many lessons here. I am so glad she got to tell her story in a very respectful way. @DonGloJean Tzar so correct. This child is at an age where she will rebel against rules. Therefore her biological mother will try to be different than the adoptive parents, just to gain her love. The result isn't normally good. Too many parents try to be too accommodating instead of giving structure. I am a mother and there are times when my son hated me , but now at 20 yrs old he tells me that he understood what I was doing.

Theres two side to the story. It would be helpful if the adoptive parents state their case. Irrespective of the numerous comments and the adopted parents been tried by john public based on the biological mother side of the story but theres more this than just what we all assumed. A lady once foster a child and the mother hunt down the child through school and then to the home. The mother told the child to call social services and told them that she is not comfortable and the lady husband trying to molest her. Instantly the child was removed out of the home until further investigation. In the end the child confess that it was her mother that coached her into the allegations. It was a happy ending because the foster parents was willing to took her back in her family. These cases need to investigate without taking sides. What I find a bit strange is , why didnt the biological mother didnt report it to the police of the abused the child suffered ? Why kept her and hide her until an alert been sent out of her been missing ?

Agreed! Especially considering that the adoption itself was unlawful as the maternal mother didn't sign the documents. She was told to return all the money they spent when she returned to take her child - why?! It seems this couple got so used to the baby that they did everything to keep her, only to turn around and abuse her to the point of suicide. This is a serious case!!!

Further, this was an unlawful adoption that the government should be taking on. These are some of the many issues within Jamaica. Imagine injustice and criminal behaviour presented so clear and nothing happens. Where is child protection services right now to intervene and assess this child's mental health and safety at her current home? Address the unlawful adoption, because in a very strong sense, it is kidnapping and bribery of a mother trying to provide for her child, whilst being under the impression that they were assisting her. These cases will need to be handled head-on and she NEEDS to be home with her maternal mother. The system in the country NEEDS an overhaul to protect the people, especially children.

They adopted your child (illegally I believe), they changed her name without your consent, they TOOK HER AWAY from you and not the right way either. Always be grateful for what they did for you and your baby, but if taking back, keeps her alive, find away to have her back. It will be hard for them to let her go, but tell them thanks, It's now time to have back YOUR CHILD back. Nothing like a mother's love. Wish you, the Lamonts and your baby all the best.

No up more with that fam. More like billions. I am doing counselling and for one of my course I had to unpack some things that I suppressed. When I started to unpack some of the nuisances-of the course. I went into a state of depression. There are so many children suffering in Jamaica and some people’s solution is to leave it to God. Dat nuh wuk fi everybody.

I think the mother is a very reasonable woman, she's not trying to take away her child and be ungrateful, all she wants is for her daughter to be happy and communication with her so they can have a very good mother daughter relationship, and she also doesn't mind having a relationship with the adopted parent .

That sounds reasonable, for the mother just wanting to connect with her child. but, some a di dutty people dem in the comments ya, ready fi ch0p the head off the adoptive parent shoulder. Mi feel sorry fi di birth-mom, BUT, mothers cant just give away or lend them pickney away when they cant handle, and then just expect the world fi just GI DEM BACK DEM PICKNEY once the mother THINK she is "better" now, then when the mother drop off again in a bad situation expect fi just GI WEH or LEND di pickney away again until the mother get better. A so some a di dutty people in the comments a feel, like its OK fi the mother just HAVE HER WAYS cause a she bring the pickney. The pickney is not a puppet fi pull in and push weh when you FEEL LIKE IT sorry mama.

This bring tears to my eyes, the mother past don't define her, she change her life. When you've kids to feed, you'll di any job, strip, go go, begs, teef to feed them. Mother you do the right thing to protect her child. Mother you respect the adopted parent, they must respect you, stop judge her by past life. Ehen she reach adult, she will be coming home to you mother.

I cried so much watching this because I can relate. I too was a child in that situation and only wanting to be with my mother. I couldn't openly express myself to my guardian because I would be told that I'm ungrateful...so I would cry in secret. I'm now 39 and trust me that pain never goes away. How you treat a child is never forgotten. My heart goes out to the child in this situation. I totally understand.

I agree; that is spiritual warfare at its finest; the Lamont, the wife, is or has jealous and envy spirits that has been stronghold her to take out her abuse on God's children Even if the child and children does bad or wrong, even rebellious; it gives nobody the right to be abusive at all level's: emotionally, spiritually, physically, mentally, devotionally, and socially...

That's always one of the biggest problems. Adults dont tend to listen to teens and disregard their feelings. Everyone needs to feel validated. The biggest issue our society has is so many people who are traumatized and lacking in love, then they exhibit these needs in such violent ways.
