Be careful to avoid inhaling refrigerant. Too many have issues later from breathing byproducts of our work.

You spoke about the filter cores and shells. We are repairing a Trane Intellipak. It had a burn out on circuit 1. We added a suction filter drier shell and core to the system ( 2⅛" ), 2 inline refrigerant ball valves with 2 new 3D scrolls. Im a fan of the shell and cores. If you ever have to remove it from the system to replace. You valve off the filter drier and dont have to recover the whole charge to replace the cores. Makes for quicker repairs in the future. Chris, I am an old-school explosives expert from the Air Force, after I got out when I started my HVACR career I still walked around with my high-dollar custom-fitted earplugs in a small clear plastic case from the Air Force on a belt loop. I always wore them whenever it was noisy, the whistle from the acetylene turbo torch was just too much and the ear plugs when it. I can still hear a frog fart from 30 feet away, in fact, I pride myself on my hearing, they used to call me "Radar" like on the old MASH tv show, I could tell an A/C system had a problem for 200 feet away. But you are right protect those ears I retired in 2013 from 30 years in the HVACR field, and I enjoy watching your videos, I still miss it just a little bit. Thanks for what you do. :)

Look after your hearing lads. It may not seem that loud at the time but in 40 odd years time you'll be paying the price. Not in HVAC but I was doing a job at a machine shop after hours a few decades back and had approved access to do it. It should have been all good but unknown at the time was a remote compressor had been left on and the tank dump went off nearby me. Fortunately it was far enough away that it didn't cause severe problems but I do have tinnitus as a result. There's no such thing as silence for me.

That's why i'm pushing my company to get the protection that works for everybody even if that means more spending for the company. i, for example, can't wear in-ear style because that plugs up my ears but we don't have over-ear style at the ready yet. they finally ordered some

Hi Chris, your comment about health problems and looking after yourself struck a chord with me. I have back problems amongst other issues at 49 years old. I looked into Inclined Bed Therapy and decided to build my own custom bed as my old one had had it and I wanted a solution that better fit my needs. In truth, it took a few night to get used to but I found the results are well worth it. Now, I would never go back to a regular bed. My whole body feels better. One thing I really did notice was the much improved circulation in my feet and I thought that IBT would help your ankles (amongst any other ailments). I admit I was sceptical at first until I watched various videos on it and observed a kind of improvement when I tried sleeping in a recliner chair and finally to a custom bed that I love sleeping in.

I wonder if part of the discrepancy in weight can be attributed to changing to thinner pressure control hoses, a bigger LLD and oil loss too. Less oil means you could add more refrigerant possibly? Idk. Im just an apartment tech, but great video as always dude. I wait for your videos weekly. Monday, Thursday, HVACOvertime on Friday, then Sunday for 1 more. I have been dealing with the slow loss of hearing and also the knees and lower back having issues due to the young and dumb at 16. Almost 38 now and still keep at it but taking better care of myself. I am now out of traveling service and at my local Theme Park. They are happy with my experience in the restaurant field and getting them more savings in the long run. Used to work on RR, PH and BWW locations and know what you mean about them wanting to take equipment out of the racks and putting individual units on the roof. One location only had the cooler left in it. Bar units and cooler were separated. The Theme Park is happy with my experience in the restaurant industry and getting their systems running properly and making changes in the areas that need them for reliability. They have a chiller that runs high temp cooling for several building at 70 tons and only was running on 2/3 for several years. 2nd stage was not working due to a plugged dual core filter unit. Getting ready to replace that this next week or two and see how it does. Previous outside company could not figure out what was going on but 2 lbs of MO-99 and 15 minutes of observation told me the cores were plugged. The fun part is going to be changing the cores out since there is no isolation valve after the cores and want to get it done quickly. It is only me and one other guy doing all this service work and adding mini split systems into locations that need it.

As absurd as it sounds, your scale's memory chip may have been struck by a cosmic ray and flipped a bit, causing the count to go higher. it's rare, but it does happen.

To go from 20 to 50, it would've had to flip 3 bits. 20 is 00100000 50 is 01010000 My honest thought is either the scale got bumped or it wasn't perfectly zeroed out

When you empty out those jugs can you used them to recover different refrigerant or do you use it to recover the same type due to contamination

I am not a fan of those rubber pressure control hoses, my company was buying them for awhile and now they are mixed into all of the racks we work on and we keep finding leaking crimps on them now. We switched to the flexible brass lines usually with a depressor. Not going to lie on racks we don't bother vacuuming for those hoses it's not enough to matter on a rack.

Think about exactly where the lp.hp lines are connected to on the system. (Stop the video to look) This will tell you why pumping down wasn't an option here. These systems should be charged to weight. Not temp or pressure IMHO

@@richardbartlett6932 you pump it down,by closing the king valve.then you close the queen valve,the inlet to the receiver,then recover about a pound from the condenser and evaporator and leave about 5 psi replace p.s. lines drier and sight glass under that pressure no vacuum necessary,you save 3 hours from you and 3 hours from the helper.17:16

The problem with relocating equipment out of A rack is you've got to have somewhere else to put it beforehand.

W.C. on you recovery tank is Water Capacity, not water column bud 👍

You can Google specific gravity of a refrigerant. It will give the value at 1"WC. That's why the formula also says to find your static pressure in WC as well.

Are you allowed to put a shrader into the high pressure switch line? In germany we are not allowed to do it by law, because it may cause the high pressure switch to operate wrong and never shut the compresser off. Even the rota lock in the pressure exhaust line wouldnt be allowed for us. Because you are able to cut the high pressure switch off and cause the compressor to run infinite into like 1000psi

Is the channel all commercial? No residential

How come you don’t pump down into the receiver?

Other than your rampant use of the European Pound Symbol instead of using Lbs & Kg; there is a point at 14:26 in your Closed Captions where you wrote PCI instead of PSI, which is kinda big in difference; one is a thing attaching to Motherboards (PCI Express BUS 8/16/32/64/128 pin connector port), whilst the other is Pneumatic/Hydraulic Engineering (Pressure per Square Inch, the amount of force getting imparted via kinetic momentum transference).

Moisture refers to water in any form (solid, liquid or gas). When moisture is introduced in the system, it may combine with the system refrigerant to form an acidic solution which can erode internal compressor components

It will react with HCFC type refrigerants at pressure and heat to make HF plus an organic acid something like 2(H2O) + H2C2F4> 2HF + CHF2COOH +H2; the hydrogen acts as a catalyst to decompose more refrigerant. 😳

Work smarter, not harder

What happened with this video?!??!? You said the oil lines are not flares, that is wrong, they are prefab hoses with flares. Everything is flares in this video. Threads don’t leak, the face of the flare leaks. Nylog on threads leads to over tightening if you are using a torque wrench. Fricken 1/4” mini split lines come to mind.(used all the tools, currently on navac auto flare). Don’t lubricate threads. Do coat the mating face of a flare. Hate to paddle against the current of comments but I am curious your reasoning and thoughts.

But if you zip tie them together they won’t rub because they move together?

He did not use a single zip. I think he use 3 zips. He zips a zip to the zip around the / each hose. Also the zip stops motion at that point
