It was just a matter of time, I guess. I sized up this nasty techy, rocky chute and thought I had it, but I didn't.

I probably asked Brian if he was ok about 2,410,968 times over the following 24 hours because I just couldn't believe he walked away from this one relatively unscathed... thank the mtb gods he's an absolute tank. THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!!

Is there any footage of it from another angle or was it just hi filming that day? Looks gnarly from this angle but i cant quite place how the OTB rotation was with his angle. Super happy all is well though. Reminds me of my brother eating absolute shit when we were kids on a sketchy dirt ramp near our house. Lost his air, i thought he was dying being like 10 years old or whatever with no knowledge of first aid.

My thumb actually started hurting WORSE when I got back home, what the hell?!
With the one hour charging speed alone, it is more than enough reason for me to grab one.
The fact that the River 2 has a 3000 charge cycle means it could actually work for 10 years.
I do like the handle at the back. It makes carrying it around a whole lot easier.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE how you're both mic'd up. SUCH a pro move. It makes watching and hearing conversations SO enjoyable,

Glad to hear it!!
It's not a secret how incredibly strong you are physically, but what's even more admirable is your mental strength. Continuing the ride with a smile after that fall... ? Jeez Luise! Most people would've lost the mental battle from that point on. Mad kudos, Brian!

Best thing you can do after a crash if you are still able to get back on the bike and not too hurt is to do so immediately.

Yep. Fuck that. Even climbing down that kind of shit is hardly worth it. A mountain bike is just insane/dumb. I want to get a bike but it'll be easy trails, logging roads, that kind of thing. I have a deathwish but that's just slow and painful. Unless of course you fall off a cliff or break your neck! Good luck to all of you doing this!
Brian! Stoked you're all good. That was an insane slam.

Thanks my dude!! Up and over is no good!
Big crashes like that make it hard to continue to focus and ride. Great job mentally Brian!
Brian your skills have gotten so much sharper over the years! That was a crazy tumble! So glad you’re ok. This has been my favorite series of video you guys have ever put out. The three trails you’ve ridden in this series so far look fantastic! Keep ‘em coming!

So glad to hear you're digging this Redemption series!!
If you need your van checked, Antero Automotive & Alignment in downtown Buena Vista can get you squared away. The owner of the shop is my uncle. A cool fact about those tunnels at the beginning is that Red Bull Racing drove their f1 car through them during the F1 USA Road Trip. The video is worth a watch!
You need to get an OBD2 code scanner so you can get an idea of why the CEL is on. At least it would give you an idea if it's critical or not.

Lost his damn foot, got it sewed back on and he's still way faster than us!
They make such comfortable elbow pads. When it is not blazing hot, why would everyone on rough trails not be using them? FWIW- My 55 year old wife is the toughest mountain biker in the world. Last year while riding at Oil Well Flats (Canon City Co highly recommend) she had an over the bars. When I caught up to her she had huge chunks of cactus in about 5 places including a huge one on her forehead. She insisted on finishing the ride because, "If I am going to mess up my face I am at least getting a ride in".

My GF has crashed (and gotten right back up) enough times that we don't ride without full pads and full face helmets. If you get the right one (we like the Kali Invader) you'll hardly notice it's a full face. Gotta protect that money maker!

Pro-tip: Always carry an OBD II scanner. Inexpensive and at least you'll have an idea what the CEL is for.
Absolutely shattered for you both (and myself) that the trip has been cut short. I really love your Redemption vids BK. They're so much fun watching you guys push yourselves. Super entertaining and cannot wait for the next one. Keep the videos comin Brian!💪🏼From a long time follower

Loving Redemption CO so far!
Hi from the UK, I just love your videos as I've just retired at 62 young and getting back into riding, took your advice, and got myself an osprey 5 pack to carry my stuff and water it fantastic thanks
Glad you're okay! Great footage and amazed you kept going. Glad to know you're human but can't believe that's your worst crash with everything you do. Keep riding!
Have you considered a odb2 reader for your van? I'm no mechanic but its easily saved me and my friends good chunk of change. Easy to google the error codes, and eases my mind knowing how severe the error is. One of the fixes was literally just resetting the error and restarting the car, that would have been a $240 fix. That trail was nasty and the slam was even more nasty! Still looked like a good time!

Great Video B, cool to see Alex shredding with you out there. Banger !!! 👍👍
Been watching you for a long time. Have to say your technical riding is really impressive !! It’s crazy when features that would once scare you look rideable.
I will say that I’ve been following you for awhile and your videos are always 1st person which is sick, but the single track sampler posted that video of you the other day following you and wow I’m amazed at how good you are on the bike. Seeing you bike in third person made me realize how good your maneuverability skills on the bike are. Love your channel btw

Wowsers. What a hit. Glad you're okay man. Great start to my day... I just came from watching episode 2 and now this one.
Glad your doing ok after that hit. Rest up and ride out. Redemption CO is awesome so far.
What an absolute relentless trail! Nice riding through the pain
Ya know how when you watch somebody crash and you get that twinge/shock run through you, even though you're only experiencing it vicariously... You weathered that one pretty good. You're one durable dude. Carry on!
Great Video! Brings back lots of memories, camping at Elephant rock, mountain biking all around the area, and whitewater kayaking on the Arkansas River.

Fear no repair with OBD2 for the CEL I second any previous comments. One of the best purchases for a car owner and I've ever made, I got a Blue Drive OBD2 reader. Repairs are easy when you know what to expect. Keep up the vids great stuff!

Man, so many people have them I'm surprised my cousins or friends haven't called me up at this point to help!
Every man for himself! LOL. Good on you for keeping your composure and finishing the ride after that gnarly slammer.
You should grab a Bluetooth ODBII scanner so you can read the error codes on your phone when the van throws a check engine light.
when i fall in a ride i just cant recover mentally, phisically is way easier for me. huge respect brian!
...that was lucky bro, good thing you are built with titanium bones, and, most of all, you have got a RIPMO!

Brian, you are a tank. That OTB didn’t look to crazy, but the landing zone looked lethal. So glad you walked away. Keep up the good work.
Great ride. 👍🏻. Looking forward to the new bike build. 🎉
Hope you are mending well Brian. Love the videos you guys make as they inspire us all to test ourselves.... In moderation of course. Cheers Lads. 🍻👍
1. OOF! Glad you emerged banged but not broken. 2. You need a bluetooth OBD-II reader for your van so the ultra-vague check engine light doesn't spook you for no reason. Tons on Amazon, of course. I think the one I have is called Blue Driver. Worthwhile purchase. Just don't leave it plugged in 24/7 as I've heard that can cause issues (but that may be an urban legend).
I just love how Jesus takes some time off to ride bikes with you and even do some laundry afterwards. Respect.

4:02 HUNGA! YOOOO!!!
Man, can’t believe you were able to walk away from that one. Glad you’re ok! Great vid!
Glad you are generally fine. Rare to see you fall. Enjoyed the video - very tech.
Glad you're alright Brian, but those who follow the trend and are going without hydration packs, this is where they more than pay off, when you take a hit to the back and it takes it instead of you. Mine saved me already a good one and meant I could make the big riding trip just 4 weeks later and let's not talk about having the stuff you need, when you need it and plenty of water.
So glad you survived that "off" Brian, but that back looks like it hurts a lot man. Excellent video throughout, as always! Cheers!
That was a hard hit!!! I felt that. Glad you're okay BK!
Awesome video. Best VB video out there. Thanks for posting

Holy.....that's why i always wear a back protector when riding gnarly stuff.
Just came home after I threw myself over the bars too (Front wheel got stuck on a small dib like 12:59 because I wasnt paying enough attention) and this video is what youtube recommended first lmao
Gnarly spell! Your cat like reflexes have served you well! One of our boys just broke his collarbone, and I believe that the crash would have been much worse if he was not so agile and fit.

Great video. Great trails. Great work.
I can smell that "good" bathroom from here. I also agree with you, hit 'em up when you got them! I haven't seen the crash yet, but hopefully you are fine!
That was insane, so was that trail in Ep.2 Crazy stuff. Glad you're ok. I took a handlebar to the ribs about 2 mos ago and even though I was physically able to ride after 2 weeks I could sense myself balking at stuff I should have ridden for the next several rides. Mental games are cruel.

Buy an OBD2 reader for that check engine light. It'll tell you what's going on via an app on your phone and you can get some idea of whether you need to be really concerned or not.

That’s a hidden jet up there, everyone rides Monarch Crest and Cottonwood in and around Salida. I love that trail, the top is around 9000ft.
Wow! You sure know how to bounce! Hope you're on the mend without medical intervention. The next video will tell! You're killing it! X Games Brian! Agree with the comments that it's time to up your protection game riding black and double black diamond stuff! Not a full face or pads riding type... yet! It's about time to consider them though. I already wear knee warmers much of the time, so actual pads would be pretty welcome. But some of the other stuff? The heat might just do me in! But now that the weather has turned, not so much this time of year.
