I GOT OFFERED AN ALLOTMENT! (After waiting 2 years!) ♡
ahhhhhhhhh!!!
I can't believe allotment day is finally here. I've waited such a long time. Which allotment do you like the most, why and which one should I choose? ♡

Plot 3 was definitely a no-go. First plot you saw will definitely be best for chickens so long as it's fox proof. Looks like there's garlic growing. Have a look at 'no dig' (look for the Charles Dowding videos) as an alternative to all the hard work clearing the plot. I changed my garden to 'no dig' seven years ago & increased yields by 20%. I then took on a small, overgrown allotment last year & apart from removing bricks & rubbish & flattening humps, did no digging at all. Covered the lot in corrugated cardboard, with 75-100mm of green waste compost/home made compost, with paths made from shredded hedge & shrub prunings. Hardly a weed to be seen & plenty of potatoes, beans, brassicas etc, plus cucumbers, masses of French beans & tomatoes from the polytunnel I bought, despite not planting it up until late June.

Wow, that's a fantastic result. We did end up getting the first plot with the pond and the polytunnel. I think our plan to have ducks is a year or so away for now anyway so we are just going to spend this year tidying up and growing a couple of things in the polytunnel like strawberries and maybe some tomatoes. I am definitely going to look into the no dig method! ♡
So excited for you ,I loved the plot with the pond best, good luck with whatever one you choose 😊

Oooh! I feel your excitement!! I waited 4 years for a plot, then took one on in Jan and was offered 3 others on different sites this month - I love the pond site! Happy gardening 👩🏾🌾

4 years.. wow! That's such a long time, oh my goodness. Congratulations! Thank you and happy gardening to you too my dear!!!♡
Fenced in plot best choice. Pond on other plot should be fenced off, check the sites insurance policy. Don’t be overwhelmed by the work, make a plan first, and take it one bed at a time. I’ve had my allotment for 16 years now and only now do I feel I have some control . ❤

We decided to get the plot with the pond. We felt like it had the most growing potential and space for my little one to run around. But, pond fencing is a top priority for us, too. It's definitely something I need to check the insurance on!! ♡
Beautiful! How exciting ❤ Subbed, so excited to share this journey with you, well done 🌷💖🌷

A plot needs hard work and commitment from the start, so think carefully about if you are prepared able to offer those two things before taking either one on. Not very idealistic I know but true, and if you can offer those things either would do….

That's fantastic! I can't wait to try home grown over shop bought! ♡
Looking to see how you get on all new plots will need hard work in front of you but remember it's a race not not a marathon when clearing and getting it to a growing standard just do a bit at a time and enjoy home grown far superior to shop bought rubbish that's been sprayed with god nos what all the best and a new sub

Good luck, don't forget to sow some seeds now that you have got one, so that they can go in once the first bed is ready.

Some allotments don't allow livestock. Hope you've checked first?
