Great Jeep. And the owner had the skills expected. Good job fella. Nothing to be ashamed of there.
This Jeep has a proper exhaust note. It makes me think of the old CJ5s of the ’70s when V8s were everywhere around Colorado.

That dude did not worry about his expensive ass jeep props 💯😂
He scooped a whole heap of ranch on his bumper. Imagine if he’d hit that at speed like so many of you are suggesting. I’m sure he’s disappointed he didn’t make the obstacle but he’d be pissed if he smashed his bumper. I’ve been to enough mud parks where Jeeps are being flat towed back home because their thoughts were “just give it more skinny pedal “

It cracks me up whenever I see people wheeling on here. If you ain’t smacking your head off the roof when going over stuff you’re going too slow!
Gotta let the driver do there own thing

So the big bad V8 Jeep 392 stuck just like Tommy's Willys Sport, Tommy said he could keep up with a Rubicon and would love to see an old Jeep Cherokee and a Blazer S10, ZR2, and K5 on the course, cool Jeep.
That Jeep is so sick!
Need to bring it to Windrock in Tennessee. It will prove just how wonderful the 392 is at rock crawling. I have seen 38's put on the 392, but I believe that was an extreme Recon 393
So jealous Jeep we need that 392 gladiator!
The kenda klevers look great!
It did pretty good great and really cool that you rinse them off afterwards because it would be $20 to $30 at a high pressure car wash to get all that mud off. Lol

I’m sure they have a hose and a pressure washer at Tumbleweed.
More gas and actual mud terrains would have made a huge difference. Momentum the whole time. They slowed him down too much. Pretty sure back and forth would have worked when he got “stuck”. I’ve put my 392 on 37s with 4.88 through worse!

On the subject of V8s and how jeep put the 392 on the Wrangler, I wish they would offer a smaller V8. Bigger isn't always better. I used to have a Silverado with a 4.8L V8. Great exhaust note, had enough power (285), and was pretty torque-y (over 300 ft lb) with decent fuel economy (got 20 mpg in a short wheelbase V8 Silverado). I wish there was something similar available for the jeep, for the sake of cost. I'd pay an extra $5k to have one as an option in a sport or Willys. But I'm not about to pay $20k extra over a similarly equipped Rubicon just for a V8.

Like the LS. They're dimensionally the same... And a 6.0 will still get the same mileage as the 5.3 and won't drop while towing
@redtitan29
Жыл бұрын
The MSRP on a 392 is about $10K more than a loaded V6 Rubicon Recon. Go through a dealer selling below MSRP and that difference is even less. I believe Jeep used the 392 for two reasons. First, they wanted to throw down what they had to handle whatever Ford was going to release. Secondly, they ultimately don't want to sell to many V8 Wranglers as it destroys their corporate CAFE rating. If they offered a low cost 5.7L option the take rate would be too high. Supply constraints combined with customer demand would push the price up anyhow.
@backwoodstherapy
Жыл бұрын
@@redtitan29 I mean, maybe the way YOU'D spec a V6 Rubicon, that's the price. I just spec'd one on the jeep website, and a non XR (because I'd put my own aftermarket lift kit, regear to 4.88s, and 37s) with my options (Gorilla Glass windshield, auto transmission, tow package, tailgate reinforcement and remote start) gives me a Wrangler Rubicon for about $54k. Sure, you can add blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control and all that if you want, or steel bumpers and LED headlights, but I don't really need all that extra fancy stuff in my Jeep, because that's not what I'm buying it for. And stuff like bumpers and LED headlights can be added in the aftermarket for way cheaper. And that's on a Rubicon. I'd love to see the V8 option in a Sport or Willys, and I'd 100% pay $5-6k extra for it. But the 392 *starts* at $80k. I'm not paying that much. I understand why they did it - like you said, it ensures they meet their MPG requirements because most people won't be getting it because most people can't afford an $80k car - but it would still have been nice to have the option. Wishful thinking on my part. It doesn't really matter, anyway, since all Jeeps will be electric in 12 years or so, regardless. Would have been nice to experience it before that, though.
@redtitan29
Жыл бұрын
@@backwoodstherapy A 392 is only available loaded so my comments were towards a similar equipped V6 Rubicon. All things equal, I gladly paid the marginal increase to get the V8. Like you, I chose to go with a standard 392 to install my own lift etc.
@backwoodstherapy
Жыл бұрын
@@redtitan29 that is actually my point. There may not be a huge difference between a loaded V6 Rubicon and a 392, but I'd like it to be an option in a non-loaded vehicle. Let it be an option in the Willys with the XR package, and I can throw in a front locker, an economy lift, and some 37s and I'd have an amazing V8 rock crawler for less than $60k but that's almost certainly what jeep DOESN'T want. 🤣
Those tires are on the mild side as well, if he had some Cooper SST or Nittos or something more aggressive he could have dug out of that, because he was already close when andre told him to stop. At least from my arm chair view.
Love those kenda klevers!
Entertaining and informative. The reality TV drama music though??

Unfortunately, power wouldn’t help much in this case. Only ground clearance and tire selection.
If he wouldn’t have let off the gas coming out of Tommy’s Demise he would have came right out.

Your right and I bet if they let someone run the obstacles in reverse start of with the hardest obstacle first Tommy Demise a few would probably get thru before it’s rutted out in each direction…

My kids would be going nuts over that sonic sticker haha. I've never seen that sticker before. I'm sure there's always that 1 person that'll say oh they're everywhere here but I think it's pretty cool 🤷♂️. I'm not a fan of stickers so that's going against my nature.

shows the advantages and limitations of the short wheelbase. Good and bad. 392 also very very heavy compared to the turbo 4
Nice! The problem with the 392 seems to be "you can go slower." LMAO I think you need a special sticker for the very few vehicles that can make it through Tommy's Demise without winching or Mule support. BTW, what are you going to do when you have to return the Mule to Kawasaki? That little thing has proven itself indispensable.
Time to put in an "expert" course, TFL!
Great work 👏 👍. I hope y'all have a safety and property damage liability forms for EVERY BODY to sign that goes there??? 😉
Lovely jeep.
big boss fight at the end
Im glad I live where we dont have mud like that. I have a Rubicon and its a beast on much more difficult "terrain" than seen here. Mud is an ENTIRELY different ballgame, tires are 90% there, and I would hate to be running 2 inch mud lugs on a daily driver.
Alright!!!! Tumbleweed Scores and Wins!!!!! :) :) :)
It would be fun to see a new wrangler jl vs an old cj or yj. The wrangler will be the most capable but which one would be more fun to run up a mountain
Why drop both tires in at the same time. More angle entering Tommys Demise and more skinny pedal and it would of popped right out. Try to only put one wheel at a time into a rut like that. Very cool Jeep and the exhaust sounds great.
You should mention tire size and brand on these vids.
It's driver/spotter error..That's not exactly stuck, if he backed further the first time, then stayed on the gas when the rear dropped in. It may have pulled through.
Had to be pulled out by a side-by-side?? :) As this video shows, horsepower is rarely if ever the limiting factor in offroading: traction and clearance make the difference. The exhaust note is pretty awesome, though.
How is the course OnX rated when Roman drove the whole time?
amazing car, cool driver
I think he could have gotten up that at 12:33 if Andre would've let him bump it.
I’ll like to try the trail in my 2018 JLUR Mojito 😊
Very nice
When off roading , there is no importance to horse power,with the exception of deep dunes, so i do not understand the concept of the 392. If you want speed and noise,buy a corvette. 22 psi when off roading? try 8 psi and you will thank me later. Great video,i enjoyed it.thanks.
I wish my Mojave gladiator had a 392 option 😭

This dude is so accelerator challenged ! Omg 😱 Step on It!
I would do up grades on it, dana 60's and lift to put 38 or 40's on it.
