    Sounds really great. ENGL gears can not make any disappointment. I am also amazed of such a great tone recorded only one SM57. I thought great sounds come from blend of different mics, say a dynamic and a condenser. From the amps I preferred the ENGL and the Victory. Anyway everything sounds great from you :)

  • @Zygnus
    @ZygnusАй бұрын

    Welcome to the cab in studio rabbit hole! For heavy tones, other speakers I love to blend with the V30 are the Cream Alnico and the Eminence DV77 (Mick Thomson's signature). As for mics, I always put a Beyerdynamic 160 along with the SM57 - which complements it very nicely, adding depth and bottom end - usually on the Cream Alnico speaker. That pairing is my bread and butter, but also I've been enjoying adding a Lewitt DM440 on the DV77 to that mix. Also, mic preamps can have a significant difference, and I really enjoy my Art Pro MPA II, cranking the gain while dialing back the output volume to appropriate levels to get some nice warmth and saturation.

The problem there is, if I’m gonna purchase another cab I’m going to be getting the golden EVH 412 to match my head. It does sound incredible and I would want to leave the speakers stock as I enjoy them. They’re just so expensive these days.

    Engl 412s are GREAT! They're just too friggin HEAVY (as are Mesas). You're talking ~110lbs. If anyone wants a 412 that also does that throaty thing, both the Triamp MKIII cab and Soldano classic are good for that, but weigh a bit less. Word of note, my Soldano cab had the Eminence Legend V12s in it, which are a TOTALLY different animal than the V30s they stick in there now; there was a lot more low end and the mids were kind of "smoky". Soldano should've stayed with the Eminences.
