HELLO FRIENDS!! Today it’s all about color - and as someone who is known for wearing almost only black, I decided to dip my toes into the personal color analysis trend I've been hearing about for years and seeing all over TikTok. Because I've always been curious... am I a winter? Autumn? Summer? Or even Spring? Pastels have never been my forte, but I was open to at least hearing about them. So, we took a little detour to Toronto and visited Julia Dobkine from Agile Styling, an expert in color analysis who I’d been following on Tiktok, to find out my colors, my season, my tones, and everything underneath those tones. What do you guys think? Would you try this?
Also, thanks to the virtual color analysts, the color key, for their help in fact-checking the video and collaborating on celebrities for the 12 seasons for our graphics! To learn your season virtually, check out @‌thecolorkey_ on Instagram! **celebrities shown here are examples based on the color key's best classification done in good faith but without participation in the color key analysis process. Accurate results can only be achieved through their color analysis process!!

    Actually when I went to a personal colour consultant, she gave me secondary colour palette that still looks good, even if not the best. I think it is important to know the range of what looks okay to the best, not just sticking to the best. My consultant also gave me tips of how to make the best of colours that are not in the good tone for me by playing with contrast, position of the colours, etc. It is actually more freeing than restrictive when you have these tips and insights on how to make colours work for you!

I get a little thrown off though because I look great in yellows that lean more toward the autumn palettes. I really just need to get my colors done professionally. I’ve always bern obsessed with color and color theory, and seasonal analysis has been one of my special interests for months!

    No wonder I never figure out what clothes look best on me before 🥲. I'm a true winter loving autumn shades. So, I bought lots of neutral autumn colours and never like my looks in any of them. I got depressed after knowing about color analysis and both my friends and siblings were hellbent on making me realized how good black and deeper cool shades look good on me 🥲. Taking years to swallow the premonition that I might really be a winter before finally paying for a colour analysis online. And yes, I'm a winter. A true winter at that 🥲. One that is not borderline with any of the other seasons at all.

    @@sciencenotstigma9534I'm not worried about getting my hue wrong if I do it online but I think the intensity is harder to analyze online because of the picture quality. I did an online analysis once before and got a palette from the analyst. I printed it in Canva to make sure I got the colours right, but my siblings had been telling me that I look better in brighter colours than the ones in the palette which is something I actually agree on. Probably the quality of my picture got a bit dusty or something when I sent it to the analyst, so I got a slightly wrong palette 🥲. But it's okay, I guess I know what looks the best on me now after a lot of trys.

    True! But at the same time, there is color theory against colors themselves and unless you know how to mix really well, wearing a muted warm tone pant with a cool jewel tone top might look a bit funky. Usually accessories and additions can balance it, like the color of the outer top or inner, belt, shoes etc. Blue jeans weirdly look good on everyone. Apparently blue goes with most other colors. Even in jeans though, you can choose a cool, neutral or warmer tone.

The one thing they all have in common though is that those richer, jewel tones REALLY suit you! Especially that royal purple and dark emerald tones.

Saf and her team's videos are so thoroughly researched and beautifully executed, and in the same timeframe it takes to produce one video, another KZreadr may have released five longform videos of them just reacting to a subreddit that each get just as much engagement. Hello as u are professionally trained can u help me a bit? What do u think are the seasons suit to neutral toned ones? I have a medium contrast (between bright and soft) and I have high value( light) I'm not deep, not fully bright nor fully soft. I suit light makeup and light pinks and yellows. Cream and somewhat greys too. What do u think could most likely be my season?

  • @Ytbkt

    @Ytbkt

    Күн бұрын

    @@Snowhite-tx4sm I couldn’t advise you on this without seeing you in person, unfortunately. But from your explanation i would look into whether you flow between summer and spring. There are overlaps, you may need to get your hands on the next stage of flags where you can figure out what you are flowing through. Since your palette is more complicated I would pin point a few of your wow colours and just redesign your closet around those. Simplify, because it sounds like your colours are currently complicating things haha but never forget that rules are made to be broken :) so if you like a certain colour and it’s not your palette - I would still rock it just maybe less on days when you want to make your best impression.

    Yes. Before I found out I suit them I got an emerald green/teal teddy bear coat as my Christmas gift and my mom hasn't stopped talking about it since. She says it looks stunning on me and the colour is so unique but it works great because it's not a pea green that would clash with my olive tone. But it has some blue in it too. She told me how she would go and get herself the same coat if she has any money to spare. I got it for like 30% off during black Friday since I needed a new coat. Because she also couldn't stop talking about how my old coat looked very used. Regardless I wear jewel tones quite often. Like the sweater in my pic and I had a time in highschool where I'd wear anything blue. My mom told me blue washes me out a bit being pale but apparently it suits me very well because younger me was onto something.

    Hey, please know that video was commissioned by the dutch state, and has pieces of my person life woven ibto it. It is part of a racist medical experiment that nearly killed 2 black women. These people treated us worse than criminals and this is their way to further torment us. Actually, criminals were treated better than us as they had their rights. We were completely stripped of our rights and subjected to nearly 8 years of medical, mental, financial and physical abuses.

    Oh, she can absolutely rock the right shade of brown. A blue-based brown would be sensational on her if she wanted a softer look. It's why the blue-based black looks so good on her. Not all blacks are blue-based... same way with grays. There are warm blacks and grays too.

    I'd like to get my colors done too since it's so hard trying to tell what color my undertones are. The closest that I've gotten was being told that I look good in orange and I don't like how purple looks on me, but that's pretty much it. Saf definitely rocks the wintry palette though, so good for her! Those jewel tones are dead drop gorgeous.

    Hi. If you look good in orange, then you're probably a warm season (spring or autumn). What type of orange suits you better, bright orange (spring) or darker/ muted orange like rust or copper? If it's the latter, you're probably an autumn. I say probably, because you'll need draping to confirm your season.

  • @Turquerina

    @Turquerina

    @@kitty_s23456I would say the more muted, earthy tones works best for me. Super saturated colors (especially cool ones) highlights the yellow in me, which make me look a bit ill if I'm being honest. The colors I gravitate towards aren't like the cool, bright icy pinks but more of a peach or salmon pink.

    You're definitely a winter. I haven't even started the video yet. The high contrast between your skin and eyes, the high contrast between your hair and skin. The soft cool olive undertones. Classic winter! Stay away from oranges and pastels, but embrace blacks, pure white, jewel tones, and raspberry cool reds! Also, avoid pastels and look for icy (lighter version of pastels) colors instead.

  • @andrew_sar

    @andrew_sar

    Also keep your hair very ashy and avoid red/golden tones! That's different than if your hair reflects certain colors in the sunlight. For example, many winters with dark hair may reflect copper in the sunlight. However, copper shouldn't be the dominate tone. Also, people who have both green and blue veins are often olive undertoned! Olive is inherently cool because there is more blue than yellow in "olive."

    Agreed. But it can also help you figure out why people always ask if you sick when you wear a certain color or why you always seem to look more tired when you change into your work shirt or why, no matter what brand you try... foundation never seems to match. There's a similar test for finding your foundation shade too because way more people out there are cool toned or have olive or gray undertones be they cool or neutral. It's also useful to know if you're trying to pick outfits for photographs or a job interview where you really want to be looking your best.
