Some sources dispute how they deal with it, either it’s got adjustable power and they turn it up to max, or in the series, J put a silencer on it to handle the recoil.

I always thought Edgar overturned that table of merchandise just because he was frustrated and petty but I'm only now recognizing that it was a table stacked tall with bug killer. Legitimately seen this movie more than a dozen times over the past twenty years and have only just now, in the year of our Lord 2024, realized this.

My take is that J just found it very funny, or weird, that an alien prince would be chilling on earth worshipping a cat, and didn't think too much past that. He's still new to the alien stuff at this point. And it took Frank telling them to look for something small to make the connection. Edit: On second watch, the gunshot took his attention.

Back then as a kid i always thought the roach man was just acting like that with his body movement cause he was trying to hold in a giant poop.

Wow rewatching this as an adult, this movie really paid attention to details and was above and beyond the usual “summer blockbuster”

He learned that something small can hold considerable power, much like Orion’s Belt. Either coincidental or they knew the whole time and let the kid take the lead.

You give the new guy a powerful weapon, you better brief him on it. Common sense.
