The hockey community is certainly taking a big loss with your departure from playing, but I know you will always be involved in the sport. You have made this community infinitely better, and your donation to Steven shows just how good a guy you are. Looking forward to seeing what you'll be up to next in the future Wayne.

Damn I start playing again, come to check out your channel, and you quit 7 months ago? You're a legend Wayne, just don't forget how big of an impact you've had with this channel! You created an awesome community, and your attitude and out look are straight up inspirational. Hope you're well, whatever you're up to these days.

Hey Wayne, I just wanted to say thank you. I’m 12, and goalie is my favourite position. Problem is, I have no equipment and all the spots are taken. I was about to give up on my dream, but then I watched your videos, I’m asking for used equipment for my birthday! Thanks again, and you are totally awesome.

Lol. Ive been subscribed and watching the channel for a few years. But not closely. But just now I did a bit of a deep dive into V.O. Goalie KZread videos and just like a number of other people in the comments section of this video, I was shocked to realize that you were taking a break from the game. Also like a number of the comments, I'm also just getting back into hockey and goalie after a long break. So, I wanted to say, it's ok. Hockey was everything to me growing up. I played from 5-25 years old. But for some reason the love and passion for the sport just left me. And I just walked away and turned my back on hockey. And it wasn't out of hate or anything against hockey. It was an amicable divorce. I just lost all interest in it. I still have no idea why, but I just fell out of love with hockey. Almost over night. I showed up at the rink for a game when I was 25 and the thought of "I don't want to do this anymore" came to mind. And I haven't stepped on the ice since. Even though I had probably spent at least 2-3 days a week at a hockey rink my entire life. So I'm not sure of your situation but I just wanted to let you know that your not alone in stepping away from the goal. I'm sure it happens to most goalies at some point. Because Hockey and Goalie in particular is a thing that you have to give so much of yourself to. You have to love it with all of your heart or not at all. It's alot like a marriage. You have to be 100% committed to it, or it doesn't work at all. There are no part time goalies. So I totally understand what it is to loose the love of crease. You do find another passion in life that replaces hockey once you give up on the game. Mine was music. Though I didn't know it at the time I gave up hockey, my dedication and obsession for hockey seemed to be transfered into playing, listening to and learning everything possible about music. I found myself studying guitar and music store catalogs the way I used to look through goalie gear catalogs over and over again. So if you haven't found a new passion after hockey, you will. And the love of hockey seems to come back after years and years of divorce. 15 years later and I am starting to follow the NHL again and am planning my triumphant return to the ice. And I think every goalie can recall showing up for a pick up game and lumbering uncomfortably onto the ice is a guy in ancient goalie gear and it's most obvious to everyone that "ol pops" who's taking the opposing goal hasn't been on the ice in decades. I remember at first I would think to myself "this old geezer is just going to embarrass himself" and a deep sense of pitty and embarrassment for the old guy overcame the younger me. And whenever this scenario played out at a pickup game one of two things happened. Either the goalie in pre civil war pads would give up and be off the ice, never to be seen again before the pick up game was over. Or the old guy would some how break off decades of dust and by the end of the game be making some incredible saves in a style that had only ever been seen before on black and white film. And he'd have won over everyone on the ices respect with some fantastic saves. Anyway, I think it happens to all goalies. In the words of the Beach Boys song Here Today." You've got to keep in mind love is here today And it's gone tomorrow It's here and gone so fast"

It’s sad that this not going to be a part of your life anymore, I just can’t imagine if that happened to me. I’m very happy for Steven, but I just wish you could’ve had a better experience. I’m sorry, but keep being totally awesome

I wanna thank you and anyone who has done this kinda thing before for doing this. I know personally having to stop playing due to not being able to afford it as a kid (for personal reasons I won't go into) really sucked. And while over the years I've gotten lucky finding solid deals gear at things like thrift stores or play it again and have a full player set now I still don't have a full goalie set which is the position I loved playing the most and wanna get back into. This kind of thing does absolutely help people who either wanna get into the sport ot get back into it. Its helping the future of the sport. I mean hell for all we know that donated gear could go to someone who ends up being the next Gretzky, Roy, Quick, and so many more. So from thr bottom of my heart thank you. Seeing stuff like this genuinely boosts my faith in people.

That's wholesome. It's comforting to know there are people like you out there in the sport as someone completely new to playing. I live in a rural county in England, we only have inline hockey here; no rinks in the area and I've been wanting to play for over 15 years and I'm 30 now. I'm hoping the club I'm looking to be a part of is friendly and welcoming but most of all, I hope they're understanding; I have a condition which can result in misunderstandings and negative attention. I have full-blown Tourette's Syndrome, and whilst I have had very few negative reactions I really don't want to have one with these guys as there's no have club in the area. It would be destroying to see them reject me. I probably did the wrong thing doing this so soon but I bought some pads and a catcher of eBay just because I'm that enthusiastic about playing. We have another month of lockdown before the club can recommence. Wish me luck! Love your content man. Stay healthy.

Hi! Love your videos!! my new pads are GT2s (had old circa 1999 pads up until this pair) and i keep having the issue of them over lapping at the top when i’m trying to move in the net and when i’m trying to skate😩. I lundy loop at the back on the most slack setting…and i recently put on pro-lace like toe ties but still they overlap! should i be off setting my toe ties more? Is the toe of my skate supposed to hit the ice when i butterfly? Any help would be awesome and much appreciated!!!

So I'm 42 years old haven't played Hockey in like 25 years but still love the sport. I played goalie as a kid from about 10-16 years old only 3 of those years were Ice Hockey then we moved to Arizona in the 90s and there was no Ice Rinks where my family moved so i had to go to roller hockey. Obviously im not as limber or athletic as I was in my youth but I have been thinking about joining the rookie adult league and I would like to get back in the goal I really miss it. My biggest issue is I have been skating with my kids and my lower back kills me I am not overweight in anyway is this my skates or my body not used to it. I don't wanna spend the money and get out there if I am going to be in agonizing pain right now, I have some CCM skates used from a friend of mine that used them a handful of times. is it the skates or just my body out of shape. I know you are not a Dr or don't think you are but you ahve some experience on the ice and anyone honestly can give advice. Thanks sorry it was so long

If your still in AZ look up Puck Heads the phoenix area they run scrimmages weekly and don’t charge for goalies they may have some gear for you to use while you figure out what type of gear suits your style best. Also take a look at Oceanside/Mountain America Community Ice (MACI) attached to mullet arena. They run a rookie practice every Tuesday and it’s free for goalies to attend. They don’t supply goalie gear though :/ that rink also has a G league ment for learn to play players so it’s a perfect way to play in a league without putting to much strain on your body and ease into the demands of a goalie.
