I have allllll kinds of little tricks to "refurbish" pads .. silicone weatherproof spray for example is one .. if you lightly coat binging areas, that get alot of ice friction, in shoe goo then it will prolong and/or prevent wear.. it's also good for coating areas of worn leather. If you are Canadian you can buy a 5' by 6' sheet of automotive vinyl carbon fibre wrap. I originally had a pair of warrior ritual 1's and wrapped the knee and calf block landing areas. This material is alot like Vaughn's sliding material and DRASTICALLY improved the sliding capabilities of these older leather pads.. And now that I have 2s Bauer pads I used the rest of the sheet as a padskin for pure esthetics.. Also bought foam board from Michael's and added it to the knee block and cut out thin plastic from a cat litter container and slid that into the outer most portion of the knee and calf block sections to give the pads a more rigid landing and sliding surface..

I just got back into the game myself. Bought a pair of brian's zero g on a deal. I put the ccm modern elastic strap system...... It was way to tight and damaged my ankle a little from being too tight from how it was laced. It was so tight it was making squeak sounds as it moved. Such a little thing makes such a big difference

I’m a big fan of my pro laces. I’ve never tried any sliding polishes.

I get 5mm shock cord (bungee) with 1 inch side clip backpack snaps. costs about $7 per set. I started silicone on my pads when they were leather. Now with Jen pro and weave silicone improves the slide and decreases puck marks.

You can buy cheaper Bunge ties and just feed them into a skate lace to make your own pro laces.. just be sure to leave a bunched up section of lace to allow for the stretch in the bungee.. then melt the end together .. I just made mine red and bought 25$ Nash ties instead of 60$ plus shipping pro laces .. But I also have a kenesky professor strap .. love it!!! Fully key

Looking for something extra for the thigh area. When my daughter goes to the butterfly her thighs are exposed. Don't want to get longer pants as they catch on the top of the pad.

Currently I employ skate lace ties on my Xceeds II. I don't have a good experience because during play the tied portion on my skate toe would slide down under my blade and become cut. Due to COVID I haven't had an opportunity to research a new solution. In time once I am fully vaccinated I'll have to loop back to this aspect of my game.

I had toe hooks on an old pair of pads, but ditched them for regular lace ties. At some of the rinks I played at the netting was exposed on the inside of the net, and the toe hook would occasionally catch the netting during play when I went down to hug the post. Very no bueno.

@@cjboiss5779 Oooh! That's a good point! I've never even considered that. So far been lucky enough to have not run into that yet.

I bought a pair of these and didnt have the best experience . They would, amongst other things, come off the hook during play..
