@@CandyEvie lmao smh didnt even put the shop's location up but put your crappy shoe sponsor up 🤡
For anyone curious about the discrepancy with Evie’s reciting of 4 compared to the game’s, the number 4 in Japanese actually has 2 words for it: “yon” and “shi.” The latter isn’t used by many people and works of entertainment do to a superstition around the fact that it sounds similar to the Japanese word for die, shine (pronounced as shi-neh). Basically, if you use shi instead of yon, you either a) aren’t superstitious, b) didn’t know about that little tidbit, or c) you just don’t fear death.
@velvetbutterfly

It's closer to the word for "death" than "die" but because of how grammar works you aren't exactly wrong. Also, most numbers have two ways of being said/written, I forget what they're called.

Anything they buy could very well just get resold at ridiculous markups, and soon every single game in that store will have been up for sale elsewhere at 3-6x the store’s price. Many of this generation’s collectors, or more specifically, the resellers, are a leech, a stain on the world of video games. But I know they’re not all like that. I’ve met some incredible people already who love retro games, and I own many myself, and play a lot of them whenever I can. Or it can be bland. I archive music and a lot of "lost" recordings are of no name dull gospel bands.
I envy archivists. Even if the item is extremely rare, is in poor quality or just plain sucks, they're keeping lost media from being... Well... lost. (5:43) As an American, that vlog bit was too accurate lol.
@ajtstvandmusicarchivechann1585
11 ай бұрын
It doesn't take much to be one. All it takes is a passion for hunting and a few obsolete formats. You can start with something like print media, or audio cassettes that have a low entry. As long as you have a pc you can get a rig going with atleast one media type for under $100. I archive music and the amount of lost records is amazing. Every band in the day wanted to make it big. I've stumbled across 100s of lost LPs, Tapes, and CDs. You won't find much stuff like what the lost media groups are looking for. But preservation is still a blast.
@pcguy619

Don't think you can really call this an archival... that was just an "uhhh yeah here's some clicks on something I don't know." Archival would be dumping the ROM off the cartridge, and scanning the booklet.

so cool to me that the japanese cartridge worked in the leappad! i had a leappad as a kid, but managed to lose the cartridges. remember being so sad when i wanted to "play" with the wizard of oz book i had, but since i didn't have the cartridge anymore it just played the default leapfrog story when i tapped the interactive text. i have a vivid memory of uselessly tapping the yellow brick road while it talked about leapfrog's sister instead, i was sitting at our dining table in the trailer we lived in when i was a very, very young kid. we moved soon after my younger brother was born, so it's interesting to me that's one of the only memories i have of the place.
The fact that a lost game was discovered for such a global franchise is incredible in the first place - but the fact you found it in a store about 20 miles from my hometown is even more insane! What a cool store and story!
Yes I love lost media as well! - unless it’s coincidentally turned into some horror game that will haunt me if I play it… I’m looking at every Pokémon creepypasta ever 😳
It’s so funny watching people visit Scotland (I am Scottish) and be amazed how much nature is left, it is one of the main bonuses it’s so quiet with some areas being just wind, a few sheep’s baa and the odd car or stream near by in the countryside!

I find it quite funny people go "ohh it isn't lost media anymore" by just making a video about it and seeing a bit of it in action but not dumping it and scanning it. Yet when arcade and prototype collectors show of their stuff online and at conventions for others to play people get angry at them for "hoarding" as they don't dump it. Just the sheer contrast of how people react to something very similar is hilarious to me.

As far as archival there's definitely got to be a way to dump the cartridge, I would reach out to Video Game History Foundation or someone similar and see if they can help you figure it out! With the book, aside from scanning the pages I have no idea. This was a really fun video! Scotland looks so beautiful and it's definitely on my "Places i need to visit" list now
LUCY NOOO, I would have flown to Scotland for that Victini!!😢😭
I have a pop-up playbook set from the Pokemon Lucario movie. It came with little cut outs of toys and other pokemon. When you open the book it has different pop up locations from the movie where you can play with your toys in each section. Its blue and i think it has a holographic lucario on the back
I don’t know how to explain this, but at 9:29 when you pressed the button, the literal exact moment you did the lights in my house went out and came back on
Hey Evie, great find! Please if you can, do try to find a way to digitalize the cartridge! While it's great to have it physically (and, well, you need the whole setup for it), the contacts or other electronics in it could go bad and the data would be lost. (This is assuming it hasn't been done by someone already plus just the cartridge data is not amazing - but we still gotta preserve!) Have a good one, cheers.
This channel is a rare and obscure amazing experience! An absolute gem! Keep up these amazing vids, Evie!
I relate SO hard to this. I'm in a similar quest for a piece of lost media for Megaman that admittedly is not going to blow anyone's mind but I want to find and share it anyways!
omg that turn the page sound is sooooo nostalgic, i love how the leapfrog and the cocopad just used the same sound effects lol
Damn, I just came from an LSSQ video. I'd love to see some more Pokemon lost media, I am a huge fan of archiving historical pieces of media (as well as random stuff I like that probably won't go anywhere, but just to make sure, I've backed it up)
I think the best way to rip the sound from it would be looking for a cartridge kit from the makers of the book and see if that exists somewhere, though I find it unlikely you'll find something that obscure at a reasonable price that actually works and has the manuals and such.
I think it's because of how large this franchise is that there's so much lost media. They make A LOT of stuff. It's surprising some of the less notable stuff would end up lost.
"Been around for a long time - since 1999!" Me: Withers away like Bilbo after he gives up the ring.
Love this video! More videos of this style would be great! 👏👏👏 lost media is so interesting

I love the idea of Vessis, unfortunately they do not come in half sizes or in wide and are really expensive, meaning I would have to hope that they fit. My big toe is really spread apart from my other toes which are squished together so I have to have a wide shoe, I can deal with no half-sizes, but the no wide shoes are a dealbreaker for me because they would just hurt.

So for extracting the audio: There MAY be a device for dumping the ROM itself, but it seems unlikely. A simple solution, though, is to open up the leap pad, disconnect the speaker wires from the speakers, and wire those up to a headphone jack. You could then plug that into the mic input and record them directly.
I found it surprising that hardly anyone knows about that game, for Pokémon to have such a big community you'd think it would be more noticeable among the community. Great job CandyEvie!
