@@ZiggyMercury It has nothing to do with luck. Human fly planes. And human factors plays the most important part when unexpected emergency happens, on how they react and response. Most American pilots have more product knowledge and experience, to handle flight emergency better, in my opinion. . I often, wonder what would be the outcome, had those 737Max pilots with "MCAS" defects, switch off the defective MCAS and flew the planes manually ???? This is the record, before the accidents. 2 out of 42,000 flights. pretty good to me. By May 2018 - a year after the first delivery - more than 130 Max planes were in service with 28 different airlines around the world. The Max had flown almost 42,000 flights in that time, moving about 6.5 million passengers.

Flew the MAX for the first time right on my first flight after Co19, two legs on AA. Found it a perfetly cromulent domestic mainliner. Fine flying, noticeably quieter, and AA's tighter pitch was not that much of a problem since it's pretty much the norm You do have a good point with how well they do the lighting (wonder how long until bean counters decide to heck with that, back to on/off) and the overheads were quite good, I do hope they become a norm. Heck, sure, fly it!

Hi Coby, I just discovered your page last week and I think it is great! You have covered all sorts of very interesting topics. I am a plane enthusiast also. In answer to your question about United Airlines paint scheme: I used to love the red-orange-blue United colors of years ago. Then I hated the gray colors they had for a number of years. After the merger with Continental I was totally delighted to see them take on the Continental color scheme. When United changed the gold to the blue, I was very disappointed because I thought the gold had a certain elegance and somehow the blue just did not look that great to me. As time goes on, I am getting used to it but I still wish they kept the gold on the globe.

And out of all of those I greatly prefer the max. It's very obviously quieter and much more comfortable in general. The 737-700 was probably the most uncomfortable, obviously because it was smaller and older. I was honestly a little excited when I found out I was getting to fly on one of the max's. Felt completely safe the entire time.

About a month ago I booked a flight with AeroMexico, from Mexico City to Cancun, which is a route in which the airline's 737 MAXes are used, when I was booking the flight it just said it was a Next Gen 737-800, but the plane I flew was on a 737 MAX-8, and in the safety briefing it said it was a 737-800, which clearly wasn't, it was a 737 MAX, I dont have any problem with the plane, and now that is recertified, it is considered one of the safest planes flying around, and as my first flight on a MAX, I really liked the experience, and it,s a great improvement in comparison with their Next Gen 737s

Okay so fun fact about the phone holder on the 737. You can lay it like he did in the video, or using the small lip in the middle under the latch, you can mount your phone to the seat just like a phone holder in your car. This gives you a better viewing experience since trying to crane your neck isn't comfortable if you have a smaller phone

I flew this aircraft before shutting down on American. All flights were in the Caribbean out of MIA. The only issue was the increase in seats in the plane vs the 737-800. They added 12 additional seats. Otherwise no issues.

At this point the Max is probably the safest plane in the sky, will gladly fly on it anytime. The FAA got a black eye from this and went back over that plane with a fine-toothed comb before they ungrounded it to make absolutely sure it is safe.

I've just flown the MAX 8 on FlyDubai. They have a slightly different approach. They avoid "MAX" entirely, everywhere they had to write the plane model down, even on the leaflets, it says Boeing 737-8. I was a little bit confused, so I had to look up the aircraft registration number online to find out it's a MAX 8. I guess they hope people confuse 737-8 for 737-800. Technically they are totally correct, even the type plate riveted on the top of the front cabin door says 737-8.

I got to fly on a newly refurb'd JetBlue A320 in December. While United is going with this bring your own nonsense, JetBlue upgraded their in flight entertainment and uses wifi to allow everyone to connect their phone to control it. Perfect in the time of Covid, less things to touch...

derbagger22 United has entertainment on their 777ER planes, 787 planes, 767 planes, 757-200 planes, 737-700 planes, 737-800 planes, and some 737-900 planes. The only planes that don’t have it are the a320 planes, a319 planes, 777-200 non ER planes, 757-300 planes, and some 737-900 planes. United has gone for only having entertainment on some planes as all of their long haul planes have entertainment but not all short haul planes do. Apparently the United 737MAX-10 might have entertainment screens. Also I personally don’t like JetBlue’s WiFi to screen thing because it is laggy and slow.

@@G-546 well, i know anytime you introduce wireless connectivity, especially on a plane, laggy and slow are always possible. On my flight it was very responsive. But it looked like a brand new plane or brand new refurb and the plane was 1/3 full. Either way, going back to touch alleviates that.

It is interesting that the United MAX nacelle is painted blue because the MAX inlet lip has laminar flow,. ALL 787 nacelles which are laminar flow as well are painted white for all airlines as part of the process to keep the flow laminar. Boeing must have developed new leanings about laminar flow that now allow airlines the option of any livery color. Also, by the way the 737 MAX winglets are also laminar flow.
