    Yeah, I asked him about it on Patreon. He said "I'd didn't put a ton of effort into editing this as it's more of a filler, but that's not much of an excuse". Its not all that large of a problem, but all it needed was a second of silence after his last line on the video to fit his normal comedic abrupt cut off, and you basically wouldn't be able to tell just how filler this was.

    Reminds me of a European who got on Reddit some time ago and professed his undying love for the Dodge Charger which are about as common as lamp posts around here. He posted photos of one he saw in Paris and despite being a bare bones base SXT model, it still made him happy. I think there's something about wanting something you can't have that makes it romantic and special.

  • 3 жыл бұрын

  • @Hessi

    @Hessi

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@deloreanman14 You can (could?) order a Dodge Charger from the dealer in Germany normally. Unfortunately, almost nobody did that. The problem is that (in the past, when gasoline was still affordable) some people drove it at full throttle for hours on the highway, which is certainly not a good idea with a production car straight from the USA. A relative drove many Chryslers back in the day and always had problems with the automatic, which was not made for sustained high speeds. I'm sure that has changed in our globalized world and these problems no longer occur, but that's how people remember it. We drive a SsangYong Rodius, which has only 155 hp and 360 Nm in Germany instead of 185 hp and 400 Nm (in Korea). That's the end of the line at 185 km/h. The car then lasts much longer and the manufacturer has no problem with the warranty. This is a bit surprising, because the engine comes from Austria (AVL List) and the transmission from Germany (Mercedes Benz). BTW: I heard that in the US musclecars, like the Ford Mustang, are only driven by novice drivers. These would be typical "young people's" vehicles. In Germany, there are a lot of Mustangs driving around, but they are mostly driven by men who are in the midlife crisis.

    0:30 If someone is wondering why it only has one backup light, it's because in Europe the rear fog lights are mandatory. In order to make sure you can fit them, the minimum number of backup lights required (and rear fog lights) has been dropped to one, so some cars in Europe by design only have one backup light (which is a horrible idea) to the right, and one rear fog light to the left (reversed order in the UK).

    Kinda funny that they had to change the headlights, add sidemarkers, modify the speedometer, etc. If you want to legally drive an imported US vehicle in Germany (which I do since 2012), you have to change DOT headlights to (E) headlights (if you lucky you can keep the OEM), replace red turn signals with amber ones, disable the side markers or replace them with amber ones (again if lucky, you can keep the original) and replace the speedometer with a km/h one, if it’s an mph version only (or at least add km/h marks for 30, 50, 70, 100 km/h when it’s an old analog speedometer). 😂

Went to the local mechanic who said it's just some sensor that's gone bad (I believe in the exhaust?) so she didn't bother getting it fix.. it's putted on true has her daily driver till this very day now with ~130,000K's (which isn't a lot for a 13 year old car but) it's never skipped a beat in all those years though - tbh, I'm more impressed the check engine light hasn't burnt out yet!! Our neighbor had one. It sat on blocks most of the time, especially in winter. She finally got rid of it. I asked her why she sold it. She told me she wouldn't drive it in snow. She also told me it was terrifying driving it on any country road. As we live in the country, that was useless.

    Smart uses a non-standard pinout for OBD and using a MaxiRecorder or a ScanGauge with the 'default' cable causes weird odometer jumps on cars that display in kilometers. If the SAM and the display differ in odometer, B1321 might get set to indicate "Wrong odometer reading". I've seen a few statements that Smart recommends using a "euro OBD2 cord" for cars that display in kilometers and some notes confirming that using a "non euro ODB2 cord" causes the odometer to jump a random amount of kilometers forward. Although they do also specify that the Mercedes Benz dealership service software (there's references to "the STAR machine"?) can reset the odometer if it jumps due to the tech using the wrong cable.

    In New Jersey if the vehicle is 1995 or older you don't have to get it inspected. They only inspect cars with the OBD-2 system. Vehicles1996 and newer If your check engine light is on you can 1) fix the problem, 2) get it inspected and get a rejected sticker, 3) just buy a inspection sticker.

    I had an Audi that I bought very very cheap because it had multiple issues that even the dealer had trouble with diagnosing. Turned out to be nothing more than a faulty cell on an otherwise strong battery. It even caused clutch judder like a failing dual mass flywheel because of ECU reference voltage issues as I think the alternator output varied around idle. Weak capacity batteries often throw up spurious error codes in my experience due to reference voltage instability.

    I like the first generation car having lived with one as a daily in France many years ago. My reluctance to own this one was the low value relative to the difficulty finding parts. "Sure buddy, we have that part and it's the only one that's left in the world." I decided I'd lose less getting an Autozam AZ-1.

    Mr. Wheels, The scanner tool used for the emissions test caused the odometer to change because your car is NOT fully OBDII compliant. The commands were misinterpreted by the dash module as a re-write of the mileage stored in it. The conversion process did not take into account this matter. The only way to "scan" this car is to use the correct Mercedes-Benz software. Just sayin.... Love your channel and content just the same... Second Gen fully electric Smart owner.
