a chess tournament was coming up in my school and i thought it was a good time to get back in the game again, i can say im def better than ever. I was able to beat all of em until Mr's clause. After that i dominated the competition and i would like to say your videos def helped me alot

I did not win my first 10 games, but early pawn sacrifice to develop quick, lining up a backrow mate, and not letting any really basic bad blunders like a fork happen, did eventually work. He was strong but far from perfect. I like the Santa bot though, very reasonable casual game

(@39:26) I think 1 … Nb8 is probably better as it completely shuts down any counter play by the rook on a8, and white’s queen can’t come in via e6, d7, or c8 due to black’s queen. Run it by Stockfish after the game and see.

1:3 - even with my best prep (absolutely winning position after 15 moves) couldn't squeeze a win... Very resourceful bot, always finding some tricks

26:55 wouldn't IT be a good move to play bishop to f6 check? He's only options are to move his King by walking back, or taking a bishop, or taking it with a queen and then knight would be free to take with Queen also checking Black king

Under what time control is Holly really 2100 anyway? I always feel like I have to play too fast against bots when they blitz out their moves. Gotta remember that they can do a year’s worth of calcs in a split second.

Won the first 4 holiday bots in my first attempt right now, and won Holly on my third attempt :)

@@maxkho00 I managed to do it the fourth time with the Jobava opening. My rating is around 1500. So it is possible to beat if you have worse rating than the bot. You will need more tries, but eventually you will beat Holly.

@@HungNguyen-lr1rs I'd say Holly is around 2100 FIDE. So her rating is accurate, just using a different rating system.

If you had taken with the knight at 34:48 you could have got a bishop and a rook for a bishop and a knight. Unless you thought the position was worth the loss with your knight on that square.

38:59 you should have put the king in check then forced a trade between your rook and his queen since your king is defending your rook.

The analysis caught that at the end too. I didn't notice it, but commented a few good ideas for moves prior to that, such as deflecting the queen by offering the knight at f4 in order to trade more favorably on the opposing rooks instead.

Played the Holly BOT and needed to slow down to figure out the tactics to win.

Holly and deer is little difficult

I think in the position he resigned the first game against Holly he had a tactic to win back the piece

At Holly game1: when holly developed the knight you can push the pawn forward and the knight goes to somewhere else then you can protect that king pawn

@ 29:55 : I saw a really cheeky move here. Couldn't you have sac'd knight at d5 to deflect their bishop, then move the pawn forward for check and a fork on their knight? In fact, there might be a way to not take quite there and then, and continue moving it up and threaten the rook next because they also don't have connected rooks due to the backrow bishop. Edit: actually, their new bishop placement blocks that anyway, my mistake lol

What about @ 35:39 , deflecting their queen by offering knight at f4, then trading more positively on opponent rooks in her absence? If you can involve the queen on the same row, even more effective, but might not have the extra move to spare on it and it could also backfire to pin your queen instead. A few moves later with the spooky pawn, the rook would be supported by the knight if you just moved it to the new open column, and you could threaten that way.

I also didn't see the forced Queen sack by cornering the king neither though. So I feel just as guilty.

Thank you for this video. It really helps me to look at the game at different angles. I was near succes against Holly, twice, but ended up losing every time! As if she is 4 moves ahead of me...now this does make sense considering my highest ranking is 1238 ;).

Good games! I struggled to even beat Santa. Took a few tries.

I am 0 for 8 against holly. Only 1 game where I had an advantage. Santa is definitely harde seems like than the reindeer but as a 1300 I have beaten them multiple times

I'm 1200, I had no problem with any of them except Holly it took a few attempts maybe 10 to beat her once. She won't every game she played the queen's indian, last game was an advanced French and I finally won by check mate on move 70 😂😂

When your king is attacked, do as this guy does: put your pieces as dar as possible from your king. Like here, black Kg7 attacked, black rok in b2, black queen on a3, both as as far as possible from yheir king. Viewers, learn by the example

Well, I would never play Bxa6 after 1. e4 Na6?. I would play 2. d4, which is more principled and one of the engine's top moves. Taking is not a bad move, but you are giving away the bishop pair and giving Black a semi-open b-file. Also why trading of a badly placed knight for your opponent. White is still better after 2 Bxa6 bxa6, but the reason is not that Black's pawn structure has been messed up, which is factor, but a relatively small one. The big reason White is better is that Their development has been accelerated and can continue with 3. d4 having control over the center. To illustrate my point: let's give Black two tempi, shall we? 3. Qe2 e6 4. Qd1 d5. Do you really think White is still better because Black's pawn structure has been messed up?
