Blackwing pencils are my favourite! I find so much less smudging on my hand and the page than I do with any other pencil. I use them in my diary, for sketching, note taking. Everything. I really love the replaceable erasers too. I find I can get so much variation in my shading from darkest dark to softest hints of shadow. Matte is my personal fave and I just bought a box with their 2 step sharpener.

I loved graphite pencils and blending tools in high school and now I HATE them. I hate the oily smudgy look (and it getting everywhere haha). They are not relaxing to use, but you did amazing with this! One thing I still really like about pencils is how far you can push the values.

As a pencil artist, I highly suggest using a paintbrush to blend. Too!! And yes, a regular pencil would've worked just as well, but graphite has many different shades that makes the blending magical :)

I just wanted to say, as someone who struggles with loving thire art and thire self you make me feel really incourage to keep drawing. To the point where my sister ask if she could sell some of my pieces. I would usually give a vague response of, maybe, and then never do it. I would try but would feel awful, thinking how no one would want it or who could ever want something I made. This time though I was doodling and saw one of you video's. I was hooked, i ended up drawing 3 peice while watching all the shorts you made. I decided even if I don't think it's amazing maybe someone will. So thank you, thank you for being someone who encouraged me to try. Also thanks for normalize headphones in public as someone who had headphones when I was younger my family didn't get it and sometimes make not the nices comments. Like how I was never listening of I'm always on my headphones. I didn't know how tell people I was just more comfortable with them on. I didn't even know being overstimulation was a thing. I just thought everyone was right. I was rude and not very nice because I leave to my room or wear headphones all the time. So thanks for all you have done to help me not just as an artist but as a person. Hopefully I can come to love myself more and more. I hope even by a small chance you may be able to read this!

Pencil art is cool cos youre using the same equiptment that doodles are made out of, but then you create actual art and its like damn

The thing I love about those pencils though is that you can pull the eraser back up or switch them because they can be pulled out. I love using them when writing but I’ve never drawn with them.

There is a certain type of glove that will go on your drawing hand and so when you do out your hand over your art it wound get on your hand and won’t smudge anywhere 😊 hope that helped! ❤

Me personally I love using charcoal pencils and I get they’re mainly for shading but I feel like every time I use them it just always gives my art the look I’m going for and just feels good to use

As an artist myself I prefer to work with graphite powder once the sketch and the shadow map is down, and to work and blend with that there's nothing that I recommend more than make up brushes ❤

putting the sheet of paper between your hand and the paper you're drawing on is so smart; I usually just let my hands get covered in graphite and pretend it's intentional :')

As being a beginner to art I don't really have much art supplies to work with so I just shade then with my normal pencil and be happy with it (my art is not really satisfactory to me). You did a great job shading Batman!

I draw with Graphite and charcoal. It makes far more diverse shades of grey and black available to use on a particular drawing. It is my favorite medium and really the main thing that fills my sketchbooks
