I Dressed Like It Was 1967

I styled 3 outfits inspired by the popular fashions of fifty years ago! As 2017 comes to a close, I figured I would close out our decades through fashion series with a style video of clothes from half a century ago, in 1967. From the mods to the caftans to the hippies, 1967 was a defining year in music, culture, and fashion - and also a fun year to ~wear~ around! Which outfit was your favorite?
A huge thanks to Kayley Melissa for rocking out this 60s hair! You can check out her channel here: / @kayleymelissa

that was so cool! I was born in 1952 so I totally related to this video and it was fun to get a nice flash from the past. I wore more of the mini paisly dress style but also wore jeans and T shirts...but I embroidered flowers or zodiac signs on the jeans. There were also two jean fashions that we all wore...one was making a pair of jeans into a skirt by slitting open the inside seams of the jeans and then stitching the fronts together and the backs together.....and the other was making your bell bottom jeans MORE bell bottom by cutting open a portion of the outside seams open and adding a triangle shaped piece of fabric. Very groovy.

I accidentally found my Aunt's wiglet looking for something in the closet when I was a teen and I thought it was a rodent. The long maxi dresses were called "hostess gowns" in New York. My grandma and her sister would wear these comfortable maxi dresses when entertaining for the holidays.

“As 2017 comes to a close, I figured I would close out our decades through fashion series with a style video of clothes from half a century ago, in 1967.“ Why would she mention 2017 coming to a close, and then say , in the same sentence, that shes going to just end the series altogether? This obviously means, as 2017 is ending, this would be how she ends 2017 with her videos, with this video series. Also, if she was going to stop this series she would say so in the video, and not leave in the description, because everyone knows not everyone reads it. Makes no sense. Its called context clues mah d00d.

  • @hailstar8185

Not to mention, she even commented under this video and PINNED it saying: “HAPPY NEW YEARS FRIENDS!!! pls enjoy the last video of 2017, the finale (for now) of our decades through fashion videos!! maybe we'll do some more next year, but probably mix up the format a lil bit. thank u all for sticking around through 2017, i can't wait to share what we have planned in 2018 with u all! xoxo, saf. “ So she even says it herself. She may not do as many in 2018 , but its not forever gone. She just wants to change things up and freshen it.

I was 13 in 1967, first outfit, nailed it. We wore shift dresses, poor boy sweaters and plaid skirts. Yes, we wore white lipstick and Capezio shoes. The maxi dress, or caftan, was typically worn by women for evening events. We teens stayed with the minis. Your hippie look is too nice and put together, they wore random pieces and were dirty. You did a great job!

My mom was graduating high school in LA in ‘67, but she didn’t seem to be wearing any of these styles in the pictures I’ve seen of her. Her wedding dress in ‘69 kind of makes me think that maxi dress. Though she just informed me that her dad did buy her mini-skirts occasionally but it wasn’t common for her to wear. She imparted on me more what were the rules from her school, and being very Catholic (though she didn’t go to Catholic school). She would tell me how all the way up through high school, they were told they couldn’t wear pants. Had to be a dress or skirt. Being a tomboy when I was younger, I would have HATED that.

Ying Zhao Yes she has but I’m talking about going more in depth talking about the specific iconic figures who have inspired the looks she has been creating. I’m also saying go for one specific person so for example instead of an outfit inspired by let’s say Marilyn Monroe she transforms herself into her with hair makeup clothing and personality. As she does this she tells her viewers about who they were and what they have done and educating people who may not know about these icons who have left an impact on fashion and style.

I love some of these styles, and WORE them, back in the day! Yes, I’m 71 now, and was a HS Sophomore in ‘67. There were some hemline disagreements with Daddy, but it was such fun , finding new things to were! Now I love leggings and my ponytail of salt and pepper! ✌️

this just made me think like the 65~75 year olds of today who often talk badly about teens smoking pot largely were tripping on acid when they were our age...

Unless they lived in California or other more progressive states, they probably weren’t. But You can tell which older people were smoking pot and taking hallucinogens then, they are usually open minded and pretty cool tbh

I know I"m WAY behind the 8-ball as you posted this almost two years ago, but I just had to leave a note. What a trip down memory lane! Your outfits are spot-on for the decade. I know, because I lived it. I was a teenager in the 60's and I wore those outfits (the last one needed some feathers for absolute realism). I loved the short skirts especially - my thighs were MUCH thinner then - and with the first one, I wore that exact same outfit to my brother's wedding. The colors were different and I wore tights but the dress was virtually the same, as were the shoes and hairdo. There were some crazy kids around then as there are today as well. I knew a bunch of them. I had a high-school boyfriend who after graduating went into the Merchant Marine. He used to send me weird letters that sounded as if he was tripping when he wrote them. And my first love (who broke my heart) I later discovered was an addict. I was lucky he dumped me but I never did find out what happened to him. He would be 74 now if he's still alive. I hope he's OK. It was a decade of massive societal changes and very stressful but the fashion was fun. It's hard to believe it was so long ago and that I was ever that young. I just became a great-grandmother and I'm not sure I know where the time went.

It basically is already haha; I’d say Ariana Grande’s positions era from 2020 (which she is still in) is majorly 60s inspired and this along with other things has led to a 60s revival in the 20s
