I don't think a DVD player is supposed to do that...
DVD player turns into a disc grinder.
Жүктеу.....

No, you don't understand. This DVD player is just a good boi and wants to read each pixel very slowly and carefully so he can make sure they're all top notch when they're on the display. Give him a pat and a compliment.

I've known someone who has had one of these since I was maybe 9. I'm 18 now, and somehow, it still works perfectly.

That sounded painful, but it might be an easy fix. It sounds like the center spindle platter on the motor that holds the DVD has come loose.

Sounds like someone is doing home renovations inside that thing.

I happen to have that cheep-o Magnavox DVD player. It used to be my dad's. Now I own it and do use it. It still works normally (no "motorcycle" noises and such)... but for how long? Well, I'm not too concerned about that because I have, at least, a few other players that work (as well as a Panasonic and Sony blu-ray players).

DVD grinder is a totally appropriate name for this thing.

Looks like the motor is partially seized or burned out maybe? Or bad belts.

It sounds like a gear may be stuck (the one that moves the laser) and that sound is probably that worm gear of the motor grinding against another gear that is seized.
