Paul Weller was one of the first artists that I thought about with this thread. That is quite a Sting box set. I have really liked Mark Knopfler's solo work but his last couple of albums haven't been up to par. I was not familiar with Midnight Choir. Great response.

Hi David. Have only fairly recently caught your videos and am really enjoying them. I know you have a fairly eclectic record collection so would love to hear your thoughts on your top 10 R&B, disco, soul, Motown LPs. Apologies if you’ve already covered this. If you have please point me in the right direction.

Your opening of the middle finger crowd was accurate. 😂 Cool Rick Wakeman moment for you meeting him. I absolutely love Wind & Wuthering. Other than Phil & Peter I never dove into solo material by the others. I have that Jam record and it’s fantastic. I have a bunch of Paul Weller stuff and agree with your assessment. Sting and Mark Knopfler also great. Midnight Choir is new to me.

Cheers Mike. I'm sure you'd enjoy Midnight Choir. Give them a try. Yeah, it was cool to meet Rick. I was too tongue-tied to have any sort of exchange with him (I'd be better now....I hope), but around the same time (you'll like this) I also 'met' the actual Miss World (Silvano Suarez, I think her name was) in similar circumstances. I have a signed photo lying around somewhere here. Other-worldly perfection.

Nice to see Midnight Choir and Paal Flaata in your collection! Didn't know they had much of an audience outside of Norway.

Thank you. It's such a shame that bands like Midnight Choir don't have greater success, because this particular band's music is truly excellent.

Excellent choices in this thread response. I have to admit that I have never heard of Midnight Choir. The rest are well known to me. Love the look of that Sting box. It looks weighty 😶

Sting is a genius. Such a shame that some people think he's a pretentious asshole. Check -out Midnight Choir. I'm pretty sure they're all done now, but the back catalogue is worth exploring. The two albums I showed are the best ones. All the best Brian.

Hey David! Could never get into Waters solo work, so I like to think I'm giving him the finger. MY 2 fav Genesis albums are 'Trick' and 'W&W'. Midnight Choir are unknown to me, but I will check them out. Cheers!

There's a lot of people who give Roger Waters the middle finger! 😄 Midnight Choir - melancholy Americana sounds, with lovely melodies. Not rustic like a lot of Americana, but not polished either. 'Amsterdam Stranded' is the place to start. Good luck Steve!

Talking of Americana I'd like to give a shout out to the excellent North Carolina band 'Whiskeytown' who's singer/ songwriter 'Ryan Adams' split to embark on a pretty successful solo career.

Cheers Jamie. Yep, Whiskeytown were a fine band, and Ryan Adams' solo career has been prolific. Someone told me that he had been accused of 'Me too' crimes (and had lost a lot of fans), but he's a great songwriter. Never seen him live though.

I was a huge Jam fan and I like some of his solo albums. The new one is not among that number. Quite a disappointment.

I haven't heard the new one, but I agree with the sentiment. There are some good ones amongst his many solo albums, but they're not all right up there. I strongly suspect that he doesn't sell many to new fans, just the loyal ones. Kudos to him for still caring though.
