I am Caribbean culture and we like to season our sea food ! I am also a culinary professional and have been for over 30 years. the liquid juices infused into the crab meat takes it to a different level, in particular having the corn when you bite into it. That seasoned liquid gives the corn a whole new different flavour! The outer shell may not absolved the flavour, however once the crab is cooked in the seasoned liquid you will taste the delicious meat when you remove the shell because the liquid will penetrate through to the the meat. Those seasonings and the sea food boil should have been steaming together in the butter sauce. The crab was Already pre cooked so, bring the butter sauce to a boil with its seasonings, then add the contents into it and cover and steam for about 15 minutes to incorporate everything into the sea food boil ! We have so many crab dishes here and different types of crabs snd one of the things that makes our crab dishes delicious is seasoning the crab in it’s entirety
I didn't know these machines existed. Wow

Me neither! I know about the regular pots with the steamer above the water
I miss a good seafood boil. Colorado is not a seafood haven. 😂 I visited my daughter when she lived in Jacksonville FL and Providence RI. I gotta make this! 😋

crab legs are top tier
Not live, but uncooked (raw). You can purchase in most local grocery stores. Some may be frozen. You can also purchase fresh unshucked corn this time of year as well. The taste is so much better!
Everything looks delicious..😋😋
I steam mine too. Collander or wire rack in a pot w about a inch of water. You don't need another appliance

You’re not seasoning the crab shells. The seasoned liquid will penetrate the crab meat from the shells. When you crack open the shells the meat will be moist and flavourful! I can’t imagine steaming corn, potatoes and crab for seafood boil with just water.

Having said that, Camirra's salads look delicious too. So did this dish, though I don't have easy access to crab legs and don't have much counter space for many kitchen appliances.
No, no, and no. Pre-cooked seafood won't ever be cooked again in our kitchen. We like to season and cook to our own liking, never someone else's. Buy raw and add your own signature flavor, you'll thank yourself greatly.
