Quick question off topic from this video I have a skyworth smart tv that keeps blinking just as if I’m blinking my eyelids I ordered a new t con board but while it’s on it’s way if that’s not the issue what else should I look for?

Ha, I would be taking so many pictures as I was disassembling that thing to reference when I had to put it all back together. 😂

Yes, that is a great thing to do. I think I forgot to mention that in the video but I usually take video/photos to help remember where things go.

Great video showing the features and quality of the product. one MAJOR thing i noticed was the fact that you did not mention that anyone taking these things apart should bear in mind the large high voltage capacitors onboard which can give a very nasty shock or even be fatal if not fully discharged. Although you said you discharged the unit it is absolutely worthwhile mentioning the dangerous voltages that CAN be stored in these devices for a period of time. Again. great vid though 👌

Hey I got a similar one and I'm wondering about the passtrough thing you mentioned. My unit charges with a 60w external power supply which means it's already DC power coming in. Still the AC out is not working while charging, but DC out is. Does your unit use an external power supply or does it convert the power internally? Maybe there is another reason mine can't give 230v while charging like protecting from overheating. Thoughts?

What power station are you referring to? The AC inverter on the Vita 550 is designed to operate as an input or output but it doesn’t do both at the same time.

No passthrough charging is a huge bummer. Cool video. Do the electronics have the coating to protect against moisture and corrosion?

  • @FrugalRepair

There’s nothing special to protect against moisture that I’m aware of. Like most electronics you’re not supposed to get it wet or leave it in a moist environment.

@@FrugalRepair Thanks for the reply! I mean specifically, do the electronics have "conformal coating" on them? A bit hard to see in the video. Conformal coating is the shiny coating that looks like a nice sheen applied over the circuitry, and it protects against humid environments. For example the Bluetti EB3A and Ecoflow River 2 products have it. Also, it's nice to see all the capacitors are silicone'd in place, which means against vibrations etc, this unit will be super durable. Glad to see Growatt making a really good unit!

Ah, gotcha! What's ironic is that I just put it back together before I saw your comment. I would assume it has a conformal coating but I didn't scratch on the pcb to check. If it's important to know, I can dive back into it.

Very informative video! Just curious, do you know what nominal voltage the 28 batteries are setup for? I’m considering building a pack of 16 more of these exact batteries to “plug” into the Vita550 via a plug I’ll install in an attempt to increase the available power to utilize approx 600 watts of usable power. Considering 74% efficiency between inverter loss and the 10% cutoff. Currently there is about 400 watts of “usable” power.

Great insight. Shouldn't one wear anti-static strap while working with a motherboard or delicate electronics? Just a thought.

Thanks! I wasn’t touching the circuit board but in general, most people who work on pcb’s don’t bother unless they are working on something especially sensitive. The biggest thing to be aware of is the potential energy stored in the capacitors and the battery cells.
