So kid's mother promises something that she didn't own then he wants to sue the owner? He can sue all he wants, he will get nothing. I could see if the kid worked his butt off for the business, but he did absolutely nothing but get a degree that I am sure his parents paid for. Exactly what did the stepfather get in return for his entire business? Let 'em sue, they won't get squat.

All bets were off when the kid came back with his birth father. What did he have to do with any of this ? And then daddy starts talking about lawyers ?

Send the wife packing. He built the business and ran it for years before she arrived. Amazing to think you can give away something you never worked for. The boy was complaining if it was the owners own kids he wouldn't think twice about giving it to them when he retired, Yes he should. Let the kids father leave him everything> I bet the step father paid for his collage too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't promise something you don't own, at least not legally.

If I had a business and I had a kid in the same situation. I make him know the business inside and out. Meaning working in ever aspect of the business. The real problem when a parent gives a child their business they have no clue how it's run and more often than not that business goes under in less than 6 months.

The mother made the promise .. the kid never even worked in the business...at best he would be working there not running the business...

So the kid didn't even bother to ask his stepdad about any of this stuff
