I Did A Wash N Go With Just HAIR GREASE AND WAX... BUT DID I GO TOO FAR!?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I decided to follow on from last week's video "How to use hair grease on natural hair, old school wash n go", but I think things may have got a bit out of hand, as I used hair grease and wax... Now that's a lot of grease!
Just wondering if I really can shampoo all this hair grease out of my natural hair??

The natural hair companies are scamming us. Back in the day this is what made our hair thrive. I’m buying a bottle of hair grease tomorrow. Wake up ladies.

I use a leave -in under my hair grease and that keeps my hair soooo soft and leaves my hair moisturized for a whole week till my next wash day.

I thought I had to cut off my dry brittle hair but last night I watched ur video, I bought Dax and applied it to my clean hair and my hair felt AMAZING😭 finally it’s moisturized and all I needed was water and hair grease instead of all these fancy creams and different products. If it wasn’t for you, I’d be bald and miserable. Thank you💜💜

Awww you're welcome. I don't even want to think about how much I have spent on butters, creams, whips and soufflés over the years. One thing I do know is, I would have spent a lot less if I had been buying hair grease a lot sooner. Thank you for watching x

Sameee. I have type 3c through to 4c (different sections) and the only thing that defined it really nicely wasn't gel or conditioner like most people. It was hair grease. The only issue was that oiliness in my hair when it dried but the definition was so good.

I'm loving this new "going back to grease" era. I once tried a wash N go using just water and hair grease, when my hair was only a few inches long and it worked out great. I even got caught in a rainy storm walking home, and though I was completely soaked from head to toe, my curls were still intact, looking as if I just applied the grease. I loved it as an alternative option verses gel. However when my hair gets to my shoulders I think I'll use the grease only underneath the gel to give me a softer less crunchy hold, but as for using the hair grease just by itself with long curls I may have to pass because I don't want the grease getting all over my neck, chest, and shirt.

As a child my mother did the same thing, shampoo twice, then condition, then grease your hair to he limits and then did bantu knots or as we call them in Jamaica 'chiny bumps'. Afterwards your hair was beautiful. As a grown up we fall to the false narrative that hair grease is bad, ITS NOT. If you check the ingredients for natural hair products and what they call hair grease, its the same almighty thing, NOTHING DIFFERENT! So thank you for being one of the few who still stick to the old ways and not fall for the crap. Honestly, we can use anything, as long as our hair is healthy. These companies just found another way to make millions off black people and we fell for it. Grease always!!

I've been going back to grease and water after washing like when I was a kid. However, I've been doing the bowl rinsing method for my conditioner so that kinda acts like a leave in for me. And keeps my scalp moisturized. I like the Garnier pure clean shampoo and conditioner. And use softee or blue magic grease.

When I saw your last video on Dax, I thought about the Dixie Peach days and how my hair had LOADS of tangles after a wash with Halo or Prell shampoo. 👌🏾👍🏾Hot tip☺️, ‘I melt my dax in the microwave, spoon out what I need, (though i should ideally melt in a bowl over boiling water)! I pour in a nozzle applicator bottle. It begins to solidify again quickly, have to use as fast as possible and even maybe re melt. I find hair greace and natural Shea butter, either or either, keeps hair moisturised for longer.

Yo... Frfr, when there's already grease in my hair... is like the ONLY TIME I feel comfortable enough wetting my hair within the week to comb and moisturize my hair because the grease helps it break less and because of that my hair has been gaining inches like crazy. Im on a serious budget rn so I'm not using deep conditioners nor leave-ins so I know for a fact it's my regular shampoo and conditioner followed by the grease. I get that people dont always want grease in their hair so a sulfate shampoo is great for that, but to say that grease is problematically blocking the follicle is short-sighted. There is absolutely no way I'm going back to wetting my hair without grease in my hair beforehand, unless it's washday, because previous efforts have only resulted in massive hair loss and like no length retention. I too have noticed what you mean about my curls returning after wetting my greased hair, and that gave me the confidence to shut out all these misguided advices about grease. Yes, grease can block the shaft...but not by much to be honest, most are not even a reliable substance to protect the scalp from relaxers (like blue magic, which is the one I use on my hair) so what's the problem? Just dont leave it for weeks and weeks assuming that only the grease is going to wonders on it's own for that long, use it with water and/or other moisturizing ingredients then seal with grease and repeat in a week and keep it moving. Not difficult 😅 just grease and water is great too if you can't be bothered but be consistent in moisturising, which for the last time, grease doesn't impede at all. 😅

Personally on my hair, I use it on very wet hair, but not soaking till it's dripping. I do this because I have low porosity hair and it takes a while for the water to penetrate the strands. I would say it definitely depends on your how your hair reacts with water.

Yes, and that’s her whole point! She has essentially indicated in other vids that she was using expensive products endorsed by the natural hair community to include leave Ins I believe in this one and nothing did the job like good ole grease and water and she did not use a leave in as a child w/ great results so why start now, was her reasoning. But try in your own to see what results you get. What will it cost you but a couple dollars b/c you’re already using time? All the best!

Hey Stella. Royal crown is actually one of the ones on my list to try as I've had a few requests. Thank you for your comment. 🤗

Stella yes indeed you can use Royal Crown. I am a 60's baby boomer and that grease was popular during my growth years. My sisters and I had thickkk, long hair. Mom would every other week refresh our hair dapping a brush in water then brush our hair and add royal crown and brush again. She had four girls and didn't have time to do hair everyday. We put a scarf on our hair at night and it lasted two weeks. Then we get a wash and conditioner and the process was repeated. I left that process following some natural hair gurus however, my hair does not like the over fragrance products that doesn't most of the time live up to what they claim to do. So this old girl went back old school and I am happy. I am a fro queen, heyyy!

When doing a Wash n Go, do you ever incorporate grease with a leave-in and curl creams/pudding or gel?

I don’t usually use a leave-in if I use gel and grease together as my hair is prone to build up. Just putting gel and sealing it with a little bit of grease works a treat.

Do you refresh your curls the follow day or if you need to how would you?

No, I don't need to, because the hair grease settles more into my strands by day 2, so I don't want to manipulate my hair too much. Then day 4 is my wash day, so I don't really have to do much to it.
