I Did a TON of Maintenance to the LS400 (245k Miles)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Well I did a ton of maintenance to the LS400. I flushed out all of the fluids and did some BG service stuff to it as well. I spent about $400 total with the shop I work at and used some of our equipment. Alot was done, and I hope it makes a big difference!

    I have a 94 ls400 with 103,000 miles on it. Power steering rack was replaced because of a leaking issue. Wrong, the rack was fine so was the pump, the air control valve on the bottom of the pump was bad. Removed it, plugged it, capped off the 2 lines all is good.

    Nice vid! I got my 96 LS about a month before you and have had to do all the vac tubes (dry rot), full timing belt, water pump, alternator, serpentine belt, plugs and wires, radio and hood struts. Still need to replace all the front and rear suspension this summer, but then that should be it for awhile. Less than 4k into it so far including the car itself so can't complain! Great project! Here is my $0.02: that suspension clunk was likely coming from lower control arm, it's actually a flaw in these cars, the bushings wear down prematurely, and that morning sickness gotta be leaky power steering pump, it eventually leaks onto alternator and the car will just lose power (i had this happen to me).

  • @AlexisGonzalez-eg6nl

    @AlexisGonzalez-eg6nl

    yolopookie the main reason they leak is the air control valve and if you delete it (just put a 17mm drainplug on it or some valve caps) then it will stop leaking and stop throwing fluid in your manifold

    Just picked up a 98 400 Ls with 155 k.and a service history and carfax. Many suspension parts replaced, timing belt etc. A tad pricy at 4500 but seemingly worth the money . Have had in 45 years mostly Toyotas and MBenz and have had good service with all of them except 2000 Corolla that burned oil. I think that was extended drain interval from previous owner but it's a known issue with #3 oil control ring. Mercedes were good until the 93 W 124 then expensive money /rust pits which were really bad until 2001 or so. Too rich and expensive to repair these days and they don't make a good diesel anymore . My 85 300TD has 315 k and will rust into the earth before the engine ever dies.

    Don't flush the auto transmission, unless you use Lexus ATF. It causes more problems than you have now. "A ton of maintenance" implies LS400 needs constant attention. It doesn't. Good idea to obtain a service manual. You aren't working on a bicycle.
