I love your connection between feeling less stressed when an inevitable mess comes because your baseline is clutter free to begin with. As a sahm of 4 kids 9 and under reducing the amount of stuff has definitely helped my anxiety and overwhelm.

My daughter and I enjoyed your video, its 100% true, when we declutter it helps us in so many ways. My purchases have become much more intentional now and when we put the savior first (Jesus) we are truly the happiest, that emptiness gets filled by him rather then excessive material things.

Ah. I never had many toys for my kids since I was a minimalist when I was pregnant with my first seventeen years ago. I do know that when I go over to other people's homes and they have a million toys for their kids, that overwhelms me, probably because I don't have much for my kids and it is easier to clean up in now having a lot. I agree though that I don't really mind messes since it is not that messy and we have an easy time cleaning up anything. Dusting knickknacks is the worst. I clean my parents' house for them, and that part is frustrating (I don't own knicknacks)! I love seeing how you learned things for it all with what you spoke on. I tell people what you said about owning less makes it easier to clean!

I have experienced this as well and it truly is overwhelming. My kiddos have even felt and mentioned being overwhelmed when exposed to this amount of toys!

@@lightandmind77 Oh my kids have also done this. They are used to a clean room and not having an overabundance of possessions, so it surprises them and grosses them out when they see otherwise. I tell them often to be kind and understanding that not everyone is where they are.

Hi Katie! I love everything you said and everything resonates with me specially about hearing God’s voice! I now get it at my age of 45 but I’m still learning even now all those material things I’ve been chasing they’re really not it they don’t and won’t really matter I know that now the older I’ve gotten! So happy that you see that now at your young age it will save you from a lot of the wrong things we base our lives and success! I’m still going through my minimalism journey and decluttering and I just can’t believe how much lighter and happier I feel! My mom is sadly a “hoarder” so that’s one main reason I started on this journey and I wish she could experience all these feelings you talked about specially the peace that comes with this. I come on here to find a little peace from all the chaos out there in our lives that’s why I’ve also detached myself from social media even at my age I find myself comparing myself to others lives which are probably not even real! And for just been on here such a short time you’re doing great and I’m so glad I found your channel! Much love to you!❤️

I’m new to your channel. I enjoyed this video so much. Minimalism did the same thing for me with being able to hear God better once I decluttered and simplified my life. Now I have more time for spending in my Bible study and prayers and that has made me so happy. I have to say, you look so young. When you were talking about kid’s toys that shocked me. When I first clicked on your video I thought you were a teenager lol.

Money, career, materialism have never been of any interest to me- it’s hard to know how I’ve still ended up accumulating stuff! I guess it just happens, in our society, if you’re not being very mindful about NOT doing so. Also, I probably haven’t got that much relative to other folk; it just seems too much to me, because I’m very impacted by visual clutter, it fragments my attention and drains my energy. A couple of years ago I would have said that was because I was a ‘highly sensitive person’. Now I realise it’s part of my neurodivergence. People would be surprised for similar reasons if I started a youtube channel! I love that you have though, even if it seems a bit unexpected in the context of the rest of your life. I look forward to hearing what you have to share each time, find your words so encouraging and validating 💛

Love this video! 🤍I decluttered everything off the fire place, a shelf in our living room, it has one plant each. So much easier and so easy to maintain dusting now. I don’t stress about it. I decluttered my entire closet and only kept staples that I reach for most, I only need one black dress I don’t need 10….i hate heels….out they went. I decluttered everything on the dresser. All I have is our wedding photo and picture of our children. So much more peaceful when I sleep at night wake up and don’t see clutter on the dressers. Simplifying my life in baby steps throughout the wears has led me to live a more minimal life and I can truly say I have found peace. Thank you so much for your videos. You have truly inspired me so much more beyond just minimalism. I just wanted to share.-- Grace 🤍🌻
