I cut my hair with fabric scissors using the beard technique

So I didn't want to go to a hairdresser just for a half a centimeter trim. So I decided to try following some easy KZread tutorials on how to cut your own hair at home. I followed the Beard Technique. Oh, and I don't even own hairdressing scissors, so after Googling, I learnt that I could use fabric scissors. #beardtechnique #over40 #southafricanyoutuber #haircutting

I use fabric scissors too since the pandemic, I watched tons of videos and started cutting my own hair. Works out for me ❤

You did a fantastic job! It looks so neat, and I think the slight curved shape really suits you.

I have cut my hair a lot over the years. When it had some length, it was never an issue but back in the 70's when I had a foot of length cut off and went for a short pixie, then I went to a salon! I never trusted myself to do anything besides my bangs when it was short. Getting the split ends off every 6 weeks or so really helps the way it looks and I have just never been a fan of going to a shop to get the ends trimmed and coming out feeling like I have just been to a barber shop and have a man's haircut! So, now I do my own all the time. It's not long but not short, either. But, I do have some waves and curls, and I have recently done the wolf cut because I need some layers. It turned out great. You have beautiful hair and now, you can maintain it yourself, if you choose.

You buy the hairdressing shears once and use them every time you need a haircut, so it’s not the same as going and paying for a haircut. And you can get a really cheap pair that are way better than fabric scissors for your hair.

Real hair scissors aren't very expensive. Maybe $15-20 or less depending where you buy them (Target, Sally's, Amazon, etc). Much less $$$ than going to a salon and does a much better job than regular or fabric scissors.

Do yourself a favor and splurge on the salon scissors. Even if you use them just once, they essentially pay for themselves in the fact that you didn't pay for a visit to the salon, and you own something you can just put away until you want to use them again. I've been cutting my own hair for 20+ years and I can tell you--using sharp, professional scissors makes a HUGE difference (although it looks like you did a nice job with your fabric scissors).
