@@flyinggoat2581 Thanks for your patience and for trying to get the credit for me... I have emailed my contact there. It's normally a matter of the code having an expiry date that they can't bypass and they just need to renew it again.

So according to them, the codes don't expire until 2023. They're saying they're active. Did you have the app set to the language that you used the code for? That's an annoying bug it is... even though the longer plans give you access to all the languages, the app must be set to Spanish at the time that you use the code FNS2, or set to Russian when you use FNS6 etc.

For me, a very pretty french themed notebook made a big difference. I wanted to take notes on the fancy paper! Also wearing the around the neck dinky headphones everywhere I go, so I can always learn on the go. My google home plays a learn french book when I'm showering and cooking- and the shower is the perfect place to work on accents.

This is so relevant. What you say is just so true -- one time, I'm trying to focus studying but then I'd suddenly think of the dishes... Or that I need to sweep the floor, or cook for lunch, or remove stuff on my table -- and then dust it off completely 😂 I have to learn how to work even with much stuff around because tbh, with work and Uni, Idon't have time to freakin' clean everyday 🥲 thanks... For the good reminder of working amidst chaos. 🤣 Also, they say most genius people work well even with too much around them, so I guess you're one 😎

Yeah I definitely can work amidst chaos, but I find it easier if it's CREATIVE work. If it's like learning/study stuff, I find it MUCH easier if the place is clean.

These are really great tips! And that tip you gave with the box really does help a lot as my place is cleaner and I still know I can retrieve my stuff whenever I want. Also, for me, I have a weird "study space" thing I do where I actually put on my favorite movie/tv show in the background, in the language I'm learning, while studying new words. Yes, it makes things slower, but it's more motivating for me. Usually I'm lazy to pull out my word lists and study them (and I get sleepy), but once I put on a movie in the background, it makes me want to study for some odd reason. And yes, instead of studying your word lists for 30 minutes, it may take an hour or more instead, but I'm enjoying it more. LOL, this probably doesn't make sense.

Nah I get exactly what you mean. Like I don't like exercising (well, I do, but it's complicated... certain forms of it I don't like), and I don't really like watching the news, in any language. But I DO like exercising and watching the Swedish news at the same time.

One day I didn't have any good light in the room and I just turned on the light I use for filming and was like "Hey that's nice, I should make a permanent and warmer temperature version of that". Didn't do it for another year haha.

Just got the reading light set up today! Unfortunately even with a 9W warm white bulb, it's nowhere near bright enough, so I'll need to hunt around for something better. It also still casts a slight shadow, but it's much, much, much better than my failed attempt at using a desk lamp. Super stoked about this!

I think I do actually use a 9W globe... I just found the 6W packet so I thought it was that but after I made the video I realised that was wrong. You must have it a bit higher than mine then... because mine is bright enough to read in (and it would also explain why you have a bit of a shadow). Unless your globe isn't Philips... some of the cheap ones claim wattage that they're not actually reaching. But yeah Philips ones goes up to 14W and those things are freakin' bright. My videos are made with 4 of them behind an 80cm softbox. You can even get 19W and 24W ones but they are specialty and expensive.

I haven't really done one on my language routine because these days it's like "Wake up, speak to my kid in Swedish, watch Swedish stuff, maybe read something in Swedish, put on a Swedish cartoon for my kid... go to sleep". That doesn't really help people trying to get from A2 to B1. I try to mix helpful videos in with views videos, I'll see what I can do.

Lamont you just solved my reading light problems, I just wasted two weeks researching floor lamps 😢

Well floor lamps are a little bit more portable but yeah I am VERY happy with this one for this space. It also makes for good ambient light when I'm just working during the day or even at night, because it's behind me and to the right so it doesn't reflect too much off the screen.

It's seriously amazing. I rearranged the room again two days ago and after I'd finished setting up the main part that I was changing, there was this ridiculous mess on the floor, and I just threw it all in the box. The cool thing is, in a few weeks when I clear it out, I'll realise how little I use the stuff in there and can just throw most of it out or give it away or whatever.

He's a legend, but I'm also surprised by how much Thomas has come into his own to be a really important part of the channel. What he said there definitely gets missed a lot - KZreadrs who can earn $20K a month making one video can essentially do whatever they want (eg. trying meditation for 2 hours a day for a month) and they often act like that's an option for everyone.

You read a lot of Swedish. Can you read Swedish handwriting? Do you need to? Russian handwriting is very different from typed Cyrillic. Is that the same in Swedish? Obviously yes. I know Swedish handwriting is very different from typed Cyrillic. I mean is it different from typed Swedish.

I haven't tried very much but I did have to read hand written Danish once and I managed OK so I guess I can. One difference in hand written Swedish is that Ö and Ä are lazy written with a stroke over the top rather than two dots, and I actually write this way myself because... well, it's easier, hence it being a thing in the first place. Å often just has a sort of mark that isn't exactly a stroke but isn't really a circle either. I think reading KZread comments is probably just as difficult, with shortenings like "iaf" (i alla fall = anyway, in any case), pga (på grund av = due to, for the reason of), hsh (hur som helst = anyway, but it's a different kind of anyway to the first one)... there's a heap more that don't come to mind right now. MVH is extremely famous and sometimes even non-Swedes know that one (med värma hälsningar = warm regards, a warm sign off).

The days of French and Swedish community should make our very own constructed language!
