two things that need said: 1: it's really dangerous to go near a volcano even with a gas mask. the gases released don't just poison you, they replace the air around you so you suffocate. gas masks only give you enough time to move out of the danger zone if the wind shifts. also, as was mentioned, there's a risk that the lava may change direction, the crater wall collapses, or a whole new fissure opens up and not even a heat suit will help you then. 2: you should not walk on the moss in Iceland. it can take up to 70 years to grow back and is incredibly fragile. Justin Bieber filmed a video of him dancing on the moss, and all his fans went to that place. guess what: the moss died and the area may now remain closed for decades to let the moss recover. if anyone is going to see the volcano, or any volcano, follow the instructions of the rescue and police teams. they know best.

Regarding this volcano specifically, our authorities and met office have specified paths for people to go to the eruption site. The path is closed on days when there's little wind and a lot of gas though as the site would be very dangerous then as you just mentioned. But yeah they do deem it safe enough to go there at certain times depending on the current condition. When it first erupted in 2021 some of our meteorologists office's researchers actually even cooked hot dogs on the lava.

This might seem a bit trivial but I'm a big watch entusiast and for over a year I've been wondering what Mr Fosh was wearing on his rist as I noticed that: 1. The seconds hand was seperate from the center like in old pocket watches. And 2. That the seconds hand was sweeping (not ticking) indicating a mechanical movement. After the long search its nice to see Mr Fosh wearing a Nomos Glashutte (at 4:13). A well respected independent German watchmaker. You have some very good taste Mr Fosh. Sorry for the rambling btw. two things that need said: 1: it's really dangerous to go near a volcano even with a gas mask. the gases released don't just poison you, they replace the air around you so you suffocate. gas masks only give you enough time to move out of the danger zone if the wind shifts. also, as was mentioned, there's a risk that the lava may change direction, the crater wall collapses, or a whole new fissure opens up and not even a heat suit will help you then.

This man did, in fact, cook
For someone who has never cooked in molten lava before, forgetting metal cooking utensils and a fork is forgivable (if not lacking a little common sense). However, considering your man in Iceland is a bit of a volcano "nerd", him forgetting the gas masks is, erm, downright carelessness. But, hey, it all makes for an entertaining video, I suppose.😁
Max, you are simply AMAZING. Flying anywhere out of the blue, then going on a six mile round hike, through the sleepless night would be enough for most of us. Then you clamber over exploding flowing volcanic lava. All this to entertain us and to cook a meal you've explained you don't really like. Thank you so very much, but please be careful, I was so worried you'd fall over! Silly silly silly to the Max.
Funny how Chris seemed more interested, excited, and confident then Max when the time came 😂 probably cause Chris is a professional but still.
Good thing Tom Scott wasn’t there That volcano would probably have decided not to erupt after all
The woman in Iceland had no idea Max was being entirely serious. I imagine you list any of Max's video ideas to someone who doesn't know of him, they'd also have the same reaction of polite "yeah, sure ok" laughter.
Will not be able to unsee Max standing in his pants panicking saying “we’ve had an eruption!!” 😂😂

I noticed the plastic tray when he bought the curry and thought surly he's got a pan with him, but to be fair I'd have forgotten the fork as well
That was so cute and wholesome! She was absolutely adorable!! 🥹
This is unironically one of the most beautiful videos on the platform. Those volcano shots are a work of art.
Every single one of his ideas is so special and it’s clear he puts effort into his videos. Fly high🎉

I am truly amazed by the dedication Max Fosh Puts. Let him cook.
The effort this guy puts into making youtube videos must be appreciated.
Each step of the way max never fails to surprise with his tenacity and creativity with these videos!
So let me get something straight: you waited two years to cook a curry in a volcano? Well I guess fair enough
There's not a more British KZread video than this. 😂
I don't know what is the most awesome, the cooking in the volcano, or the total lack of preparation X) Kudos anyway, getting this close is an achievement in itself!
Max Fosh is the definition of a man who lets his intrusive thoughts win
Always wanted to see another person try this apart from Hamish & Andy

Max, your videos are some of the most creative on KZread. Thanks for the content, love you mate
What an interesting timing that I would watch this while halfway through eating some curry. Nice.
A minute and a half in, it’s your best video in a while
This is amazing! I love your channel and its been a lifelong dream to become a volcanologist so this was awesome to watch. Keep up the good work!
Also Amazing video 10/10.

"Sorry for the pants, we have an eruption" is a very strange line I didn't expect to hear today
This video is the definition of under-prepared, I loved it so much. That was insane, max, you are a genius. Love from France my british friend
The production value on this is insane , love this channel
Absolutely insane. Now I have another Item on my bucket list.
As a lover of bland food, I salute you sir.
who let max cook
Well a lava bucket does cook and entire stack of items.
This guy is pushing his POSHNESS to the max with these videos
You are fucking insane! I am ridiculously terrified of volcanoes and lava but I still watched because you do awesome work. But seriously. Insane haha That editing at the start was top notch and as much as I know you made it because we’re all here watching the edited video…did you have to mess with my anxiety and PTSD by cutting to black after yelling “fuck”?
Max never ceases to amaze me at how good he is at planning, but also how shit he is at planning. All that way, curry, volcano. Limited timeframe. Nothing sure about anything except he will be the man to cook that curry. No fork to eat it.
the dedication is crazy, man literally almost died for some curry
A masterpiece in story telling 👏👏👏
You know it's gonna be epic when the video is longer than 10 minutes
Trust Max to do something so crazy that none of us have ever even thought about it before-

The whole time I thought Max was bright enough to bring a cooking pan or something, forgetting him cooking in an impromptu monster can would be much more on brand lol
I want to live the kind of life that allows you to decide straight up in the morning that later on in that day you're catching a flight for Iceland
I said I was saving this vid for my next day off and damn well did I watch it. It’s insane how hot even that “cooled” lava was. And lmao y’all forgot the most important things, at first I thought you were gonna say you forgot the curry
