I Coded a Minecraft Update in 7 days

Ойындар

Minecraft 1.20 trails and tales looks amazing so far, and I'm even happier that Mojang is giving some attention the desert temple through archeology features. And that got me thinking... what would a desert pyramid overhaul look like?
So I challenged myself to code a #Minecraft desert temple update #datapack in 7 days.

This is super cool, however I would be careful with adding too many chests. I saw that most of the rooms have multiple chests. Adding too many chests reduced the excitement you get from opening a chest and just makes it feel more tedious to look through all the chests. Also I would refrain from giving too many overpowered items. For example maybe a maximum of one piece of diamond armor, one ankh, and one god apple. If too much op stuff is given then it ruins the balance of the game

  • @DAWNFOREVA

    @DAWNFOREVA

Nah, the more op stuff the better it makes the game really fun It’s so exciting to explore a structure and get a diamond hat chest and boots inside it, aswell as 2-3 god apples. It would make you feel so good. Especially if you’re not much of a miner (me) too many chests can be a little overpowered so I would put 1-2 in each room. But let’s be honest. If you found full diamond armor and 3 god apples you would be happy

It just seems kind of out of place for minecraft when you can spawn billions of sand blocks but the design itself isn't that bad just needs some tweaking.

I understand minecrafts sandbox nature but its also a survival game. If it wants to keep that title we need some actual content. Like i cannot express how much of a dissapointment trails and tales is. Archeology only exists as a way to get sniffers who only exist to get seeds who's plants give you already existing dyes. Nowadays: 1 year later - armadillo Every 1.5 years - here’s a major update (ps you have to guess which features won’t be added because we don’t have enough time, and will be added in the next update) For example the pottery update was meant to be with the Caves and Cliffs update and was only just added🤣🤣🤣 Edit: Just googled caves and cliffs was June 2021, it took them another 2 years to add some of the content🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@charliemalick8985 Thank you! In the video, I used datapacks, which are different than mods. They're much easier to make and can accomplish like 90% of what someone would usually want to do with a mod. If you're interested in making datapacks, I'd say Legitimoose is the best by far if you're an absolute beginner. This is the very first video I followed that got me started: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mJijwadvYdm8nNo.html I recommend watching it from start to finish and actually making the Penguin Cannon alongside him. If you truly want to learn modding, you'll need to learn Java first. Once you have the basics down, you should follow this playlist: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hIeltbyoerS-pso.html You could also learn datapacks first, then learn modding later (I recommend this for people without coding experience). The nice thing about doing that is that the general knowledge about how minecraft works will carry over when you finally pick up modding. Hope that helps, and best of luck :)

the thing is though, he isn't limited to the confines of what Mojang considers "vanilla", this clearly shows in the fact that the whole "update" feels very modded. Which is fine, but it's not fair to compare mods to official Minecraft updates. Sure it takes a really long time for Mojang to update the game, but most of the time spent on development isn't just coding. They have to come up with completely fresh ideas so they aren't accused of ripping from the modding community, which is already hard enough because Minecraft has one of the biggest modding communities of all time. Not only that but they also have to make those ideas feel as vanilla as possible without straying too far from the core aspects of what makes Minecraft..... Minecraft. Mad respect to this guy, but I don't think it's fair to compare him with Mojang considering how much creative freedom he has.

It's a DATAPACK Not the game It's different

It is way harder to put out an update rather than a mod. First they have to come up with an Idea, then they have to make sure it isn't too complicated, then they have to develop the mobs design. They also have to go through a bunch of legal shit to make sure it's original and can be used in their product, then they have to make sure it works well with other game features, and then and only then can they start development. Now they have to develop it for 2 completely different coding programs as well as porting it to other consoles all with different hardware limitations. Then they have to make sure it runs well and if they screw up, back to the drawing board. And after all of that happens, repeat all of those steps until they have an update.

But I will make the next part later because I'm tired as fuck right now and I don't fell like writing a whole essay for one dude, Stay tuned though.

It is entirely different for the developers to make something across many platforms that works for tens of thousands of ppl than it is to add some client side retextures

He implemented this in a data pack though. If Mojang used the backend they use for datapacks they could easily implement stuff like this too. Almost makes me think Mojang should experiment with implementing stuff purely in datapacks...

Would it be possible in the future to make the /locate command work with these custom structures or just make the new structures replace the old ones? Also amazing video, can't wait to see what your planning to build in the future.

your ideas fit really well with something microsoft can make! As much as i despise the new updates that they are giving us right now, I think you do a really good job at making interesting and well designed structures.

I LOVE this it is so cool I feel like this should be a more rare version of the desert temple, and some of the trap rooms that you made should be changed out with the tnt room in the original desert temple. I love it

You should maybe have made the pharaoh spawn when you opened the tomb, it could’ve been an extra boss. Maybe it would have some sort of immunity to the sand sword though
