    One thing this shower needs (and every shower/tub needs for that matter) is a handheld showerhead. Makes cleaning a breeze; no more cups or buckets of water to splash around.

    THANK YOU for the product rec!! I have been using odoban because it's very effective on mold/fungi and also pet urine/odor (will continue to spot treat hard surfaces with pet waste with that) but odoban is a respiratory hazard and breaking out the gas mask and $$ organic volatile filtering cartridges every time I deep clean a bathroom is expensive and annoying!! Adding this to my pro kit immediately!!

    I recently purchased a scraper from Amazon for something that was stuck on my parents granite countertop. It came with two plastic razors. I think I'll try scraping with those on the fiberglass since I'm not sure I trust myself to be able to scrape without doing damage with a metal razor.

    That's easy to say when you have no information about the individual living here. You have no idea what their physical limitations are ( do they have a disability, limited range of motion, elderly, just had a major accident or surgery), mental status or what their day to day load is like ( working multiple jobs, single parent, care giver). At least ther is evidence they are showering and they reached out for help

    @@SweetAzSugar111 I wasn't attacking you, I was simply adding to the conversation. I made no assumptions about you or anyone else when I made the statement. Just like I stated that we do not know where other's are coming from, I do not/did not know where you were coming from. In the same breath, we cannot see everyone's problems wether they be physical or mental. My comment was just to highlight this because it is so easy to see something like this and make an instant judgment. Others may be so used to one way of thinking and never considered these things.

    Have this exact shower. It is a pain to clean thanks to that acrylic bar, if I let it get too bad. Dawn + vinegar handles most of it, but Barkeepers Friend is needed almost always for the non-stick, floor. I call it that because when there's soap scum, it is extremely slippery. The vinegar makes the acrylic bar really clear, but getting to the back side of it is hard for big hands. Spray with vinegar, Wait 15 minutes, - do something else Come back, Run over everything with the Ryobi scrub brush - less than 5 min if it is really dirty Look for places missed or that need more scrubbing, add Barkeepers Friend and scrub with the Ryobi again. Rinse. Total actual time, about 27 min. Total time working on the tub/shower, about 8 minutes.

  • @TheReflectivePerspective

    I wonder if one of those long exfoliating scrubber bands would help with the back side of the acrylic bar? They're a strip of material with grip loops on either end for scrubbing your back, but I suspect you could use it sort of like if you were buffing a freshly shined pair of shoes. (I hope I'm explaining that clearly enough.)

    @@TheReflectivePerspective So, I just used a 2-towel system with the vinegar+dawn spray and shined it like a shoe. Let the vinegar handle the hard work. Now that it's clean, I just need to spray and wipe the entire shower/tub with the 2-towel system 10 minutes before a shower. Let the showering be rinse. Vinegar can destroy metals if left on. Learned that the hard way.

    Showers are always my biggest battle with cleaning. They are always so gross and crusty and it doesn’t clean up very easily for me I usually clean them every other week in my house. We have 2 bathrooms and so one week I’ll do the downstairs bathroom and the next week I’ll do the upstairs bathroom and switch back and forth so I don’t get extremely burnt out and overwhelmed. Try my process. Test it first! Wet the shower down. Combine equal parts Dawn and white vinegar. Apply liberally and scrub it gently. Walk away. And let it sit for 15 minutes. Come back and scrub gently again. Rinse. Repeat if necessary. Know that any method that removes the soap scum might remove your paint. So test first.

    Hey I've got a question for ya, my bathroom in my apartment has one of those horrible popcorn ceilings, and above the shower it's always covered in mold. What would be a good way to clean it up? Would spraying some of that In-cide disinfectant on it be enough to kill the mold?

  • @institches2750

    @institches2750

    Careful with popcorn. If it's original and hasn't been painted over or something, then wiping/scrubbing it might cause it to come down. Could be a little flake, could be big patches. It doesn't like humidity. If it's been painted, it might be sturdier, but hope you never have to remove it on purpose. If you're renting an apartment, get your landlord to deal with mold. Don't take on the liability for yourself.

    @@mikalemadden1762 Yeah, that stinks. I never understand why they do that. It costs THEM more money to ignore ongoing problems until they become disasters. If you want to try to corral it in the meantime, you can try a fungicide spray and see how if that controls the growth without scrubbing. That's probably what maintenance will try first. And try not to let humidity build up in the bathroom. Run the fan if you have one, and leave the door open after showering.
