Totally agree. As a person just starting in jiu-jitzu this really helps me look at things more in situational awareness.
I love jiu jitsu. Literally just needed to drop his left hip to Jordan's right hip which in theory sounds "easy" but as many as us lower belts know, its not.

7:47 “When stuck in a guillotine, focus on circling your head to their chest; this will create a frame with your forehead that pries your head out of their grip.” Dang, this little gem was just hanging out here. I’m glad I caught this. Great stuff, Jordan! 👊🏽

I really enjoy watching you roll with opponents equal or bigger size. I'm a lightweight, and always find it interesting to watch how different grapplers cope with being on the smaller side of the discrepancy. Thank you Jordan.

I think your “team” is awesome and benefit from these vids more than we do.
Love what you were saying about the modern method for finishing the RNC is rotation. We were talking about this technique at my gym last week. It can also help you defend the position if you are trapped in the RNC by knowing you need to (obviously fight the hands) turn INTO the choke by trying to rotate your face into their biceps so they have "further to turn". Love it Jordan!! Thank you

Jordan, thanks for another great video. It shows that you care about your students, both in the gym and online, and that you care about making high quality content. A request would be to show some principles of escapes from mount, side position, and back. You're often dominating so much that we don't get to see how you would react to these positions, and what we should focus on to get out.

Love your content and have watched a bunch. Question? I have a few tats and looking to get more, how have you worked the healing process and did it effect your training? If so, how did you mitigate it? I’ve been putting off a few projects because I also swim for triathlon and the chlorine can wreak havoc. I haven’t had any big pieces done through consistent BJJ training and your look to have healed wonderfully. Any tips?

Man love the content as always. I guess I have a question too. Recently got my purple belt, but I have a concerning neck injury, probably herniated disc will know after an MRI in a couple of weeks, and can’t train. How do I ensure to not lose progress or halt it as much as possible. I watch a ton of BJJ videos, but don’t know if that is enough.
@JordanTeachesJiujitsu
Жыл бұрын
Hey man, congratulations on the purple belt! And sorry to hear about that, it sucks. I'd say, keep going to training and watch your training partners roll. Analyze what they do and think about what they could do next... Try to predict their next move, as well as the optimal move. This will keep you sharp and might actually help you develop a better eye for what you need to do when it's safe to train again. And of course, keep watching videos/instructionals. Take notes. Visualize. All of that will help 🙂

I’m a catch wrestler and sambo BB. BJJ has such a different pace. I feel so out of place and can’t ever get into it. The pace and pressure in CW for example, the positions, creating discomfort and exhausting by wearing down the opponent… I don’t know if I would say it’s just faster, but more explosive and smothering? Idk. Any tips to get into BJJ? Seems fun and like it happens at an entirely different pace and frame of mind. Edit: I’ve done BJJ before and it was fun, but I feel I have to change my approach to fit the environment and then it throws off my game lol.
@JordanTeachesJiujitsu
Жыл бұрын
Hey man, ya, I get your point. Catch wrestling does seem much more discomfort and exhaustion-based when it comes to techniques lol. I'd say, just try and go slow with your training partners in BJJ. Ask your instructor what is and what isn't allowed (in so far as the discomfort and smothering techniques and similar are considered). I'm sure that they'll come to appreciate your style with time as well. But, as they say: "Their house, their rules." So just follow that for the time being 🙂
