21:45 "Chinese culture; children were taught from a very young age to not be better than anyone else..." Some viewers strongly questioned this sentence from the lady. As a Chinese myself living abroad, let me share my interpretation here. I am afraid that these words came out a bit misleading. A better way to put it is, in China, kids are encouraged to work hard and study hard to excel (and to have ambition and to be more competitive). On the other hand, "being humble" (even when you have achieved excellence) is also one of the most important aspects in social behavior in TRADITIONAL Chinese culture. When you are highly praised for great achievement or being super smart or scoring the best in the class/school, you must keep "humble" and respond with something like "I'm flattered" (or "You overpraised me" if translated directly from Chinese). The least thing you want to do at that moment is "showing off" or being "cocky". Nowadays, for the past 20 or 30 years after Chinese have been opened up to more and more Western culture, things have changed a bit (or a lot). Most Chinese have accepted that you ought to take price in your achievement, and that, when being praised, you could simply respond "Thank you!" with a happy tone. That in fact, in my opinion, does not really contradict to the idea of "being humble". Just my 2 cents. Hope it make some sense.

actually, the right word to use is to be " modest ", no matter how good and successful. this is because, many people will target those who boast about their success, especially if they show their riches. so true expert and the really rich do not show their true form and not stick out like a sore thumb.

You are able to gain trust quickly. People are sharp at their 6th sense. Hi Kwesi, I also have the similar ability, but you are better. Here many folks trust police and love folks in uniform. So folks trust me quickly due to my profession. You are better, folks just trust you and love you. Very cool.

@@Yellow1964 Unfortunately for the native Americans, July 4th is a very sad day for them, it's a day when the invaders celebrate taking over America, the homeland of the original American people. Tens of millions of native American people got exterminated by the invaders, but there's not a day established to commemorate the brutal deaths of tens of millions of native Americans, but a special day set up to celebrate the holocaust of native American people and theft of their homeland.

21:56 she gave me chills that she figured out! Yup, we are taught to be respectful in an honest way, nice, don't express what would embarrass you, trying to be better than others is bad, be harmless, don't make your last name looks bad..... That is to say.... if you do something bad, you make your ancestors, parents, and all your family members to the beginning look bad because of your bad behaviors etc...... that is why we are taught to behave, be educated ( good educations only )
