I CAN'T BELIEVE that this has happened AGAIN!

HVAC⎪HVACR⎪REFRIGERATION VIDEOS
In this video I come across an issue with this unit. What's weird though is that I fixed the exact same issue one and a half years ago on this exact system. What is causing this to happen again? Watch on to find out what the issue is.

Thanks for putting this on KZread and speaking up about it. I’m Daikin dealer from Syd and I’ve had this happen a couple times too. Tried to get some info from suppliers and they basically said bad luck. Maybe someone will have something new at the ARBS

I'm also in the same business. I'm working in Japan. Copper tubes are vulnerable to ammonia, so gas leaks may actually occur in places where there is urine from cats and dogs.

Thank you for your reply. I want to share the information without having it all to myself. Copper is easy to corrode when the sewage pipe is connected to the sewage pipe near the septic tank, or the drainage pipe of the water heater to the sewage pipe. This is related to ammonia and copper. I learned it in the Japanese construction exam.

How much copper is actually in new pipe sets. Been in the trade for 35 years, cleaned out my shop the other day and found an old roll of 3/8 R22 pipe date of manufacture 2006. I was surprised at how much heavier it is compared to todays R410 pipe. Finding leaks of reverse valves now. BTW - never say never, one day u will have a leak on a flare. I'd install LG units in my home - Daikin spares to expensive

Daikin has great support. I’ve installed Della, Cooper & Hunter, Senville, AciQ, Mr.Cool Zero issues with any of them, but I’d bet that getting parts would be a pain for these knock off brands. Will be installing a Mitsubishi soon, excited for that. I just discovered your channel. Keep up the great work brother 🤘🏼 Cheers

Hey mate! Fridgey myself and I am also completely frustrated with the current poor quality pair coil situation. Hopefully ARC will use there funds and governing bodies power to create a higher quality product being the minimum standard sold here in aus… Personally I prefer to work on Daikin, ME and Panasonic I’ve got 1 Daikin mini split in the living room, next unit besides a ME ducted would be the Panasonic Nanoe X splitty! Keep the videos coming!!! Cheers

Hey Mitch great vid once again. I have had a leak in the Lineset on a daikin split ducted. Never had a leak with the black inso paircoil interestingly though! It’s annoying as if it was one of your connections you can live with it but when it’s out of your control it’s just shit. And my go to brand is Mitsubishi electric as I never have had a warranty issue

Like your contraption with those custom tails! Ive made something similar for Pressure Transducers to determine if a pressure transducer or board is at fault (for advanced actrons). Ill Give you my 2x Preferred brands for both Split Systems & Ducteds. Ducted Systems is definately have to be an Actron Classic. Easy Servicability from a technicians standpoint, Parts are always readily available on the shelf , Only Downside about them is the ducted are alot noisier then other brands. As for split systems I wouldnt use anything other then a Mitsubishi Electric, Ive never had an issue with these bad boys.

Hi Mitchel, this is interesting, and unfortunate for you and the customer, good luck with the new pipe line runs and lets hope these last longer.. I recently replaced my old 1986 Aussie made EmailAir reverse A/C that run until 2019 making it 33 years old, and still running perfectly, with nice heating and cooling, in those years i had it serviced about 6 times ?,with no parts replaced. The only reason i replaced it was due to the outside colorbond cabinet was looking weathered, plus the indoor floor unit was looking dated. We need to have our manufacturing back in Australia and produce quality products prior to the last 25 years... BTW, i had installed a Daiken 5.8 kw split R/C system, lets see if this Daikin lasts 33 yrs 😀

Such a frustrating situation for yourself and the customer. I refuse to use white paircoil anymore for this reason. I have also been told if you completley seal the insulation to the copper on each end it can help prevent this. Still makes me nervous with the amount of pipe i have installed in ceilings/walls in newbuilds though. Daikin or ME are my preferred brands, have daikin in my house but there definetly not like they used to be.

Have you thought about giving the fire rated pair coil a go (black inso). I use it more than the white shit even though it costs abit extra, never had an issue with it leaking. My favourite brand personally is mitsi elect, got them in my place. If the customer wants a cheaper option I find the Gree’s go hard for the price. Never had an issue with them. @@danielgilpin6968I’m not saying the copper is different in the fire rated, I’m saying the insulation is different. As Mitch mentioned there’s possibly a chemical reaction happening between the white insulation and the copper pipe when it sweats causing pipe to corrode.

hi Mitch, nice job, just concerned about that connection that was done in the cover of the outdoor unit? water could get in through the vents on the side and soak them creating a short...as for the silicone, I would have used electrical silicone instead of the roof stuff as it has eating agents in it, electrical stuff doesn't, im a Daikin dealer now here in NZ, been with them for a few months, great units, better change from MHI I was using, im strictly HVAC not a sparky lol been doing it for 15 years
