Huh. My dollar stores don't carry fresh produce, but there's a lot of canned/frozen foods. - For the record, I use the term "dollar store" for both dollar and 99 cent stores. Lol. I also live in Washington state, since that apparently matters to some of you.

I have never in my entire 38 years of existence ever seen a $.99 store have fresh produce! Our have packaged pantry items and a few cold and frozen food coolers but never fresh produce. I live in the Flint area, this store chain needs to come here, it's a food desert and the community very much needs affordable fresh produce.

I have never seen a store like this in my life!?! Why don't my area have one of these. My county could seriously use this!!!

Woah aha I’ve never seen full grocery aisles like that in a dollar/99c store😳 dollar stores near me will have dry goods, crackers, flour, boxed baking mixes and boxed snacks, dry pasta etc. But usually only one maybe two aisles of stuff, and I’ve never seen any fresh produce! Damn, that’s a good 99c store

Your mom sounds based. I'm lucky to have money for food but I look for deals everywhere. The real secret is the cook though. Some people can make bomb dishes from nothing. I usually end up eating one big thing at a time like slow cooker stuff with rice. My mom was a champ at making full meals but unfortunately I didn't get with her methods until after she passed.

Maybe that's what the world especially politicians need to be challenged n see if they could live that way everyday. They'll finally get it n maybe the world could all get some of these stores even using local farmers to fill it. Even farmers markets you can't buy a buck worth can only buy the size they fill in qrts mind u most veggies go by weight too but still not ideal

I can make a fulfilling meal for $5 or less..and be extremely full and satisfied..it really don't cost a lot to make a decent meal..I keep my meals super super simple..a 50/50 plate everyday.

Honestly it’s not that impressive for the US, either. $10 a meal is close to what you’d get at a chain restaurant, and it’s easily 2 fast food meals with change left over. I’ve had to exist on about $10/week before, and generally that excludes fresh veggies.

Unlike other countries its not really fresh. Its really low quality food, that's why its so cheap. Go to a European or Asian country and you'll find actual good quality produce at a decent price.

I moved to a state where they don’t have 99cent stores and I’m so sad, my family almost always had to shop there for food/dinner stuff (sad times) but I just love the 99cent store because I could get fresh ingredients without putting a hole in the wallet

Came for the challenge, stayed for the cute outfit the kiddos wore. Seriously though, all the 99 cent stores around here have loads of fresh produce, frozen healthy options and most have fresh baked bread

Bruh the kid walking with you through the store definitely gives off soft emo vibes. They literally have the same outfit as a kid in my school

yeah, I live in LA where everything is super expensive right now, so I shop at the 99 cent store regularly. I mostly buy produce and go in the morning when they get shipment because that’s when they have good promotional deals on fancier products. You just have to pick and choose what looks good, some of it isn’t but most of it is.

I love the 99 cents store but tbh the produce is a gamble. Lile sometimes it looks good, tastes good, seems pretty fresh. But then other times, its bruised, sticky, or about to go bad. However, I like their frozen foods usually and I love their ramen selection

@Merp lover the diffrence doesn't really matter here, yeah dollar is a bit cheaper but then it's like make a whole week's worth of meals for 3 peapole for 13 dollars, i don't think it changes stuff by a lot, where i live prices are getting higher, in the past you could do a week for one pearson for 10 dollars, nowdays you could do meals for like 2-3 days

@@namiesnaturals3557 California probably. We used to shop at 99¢ store all the time. Yes the produce is 99¢ sometimes it could be more but only like 1$ more.

Most of the dollar stores I’ve been to have dry food only, and a refrigerator section. Of course there’s Save-A-Lot and Aldi, which kind of look like that but stuff varies in price.
