There's a few exceptions, 3 rescue kitties to be more precise... An almost domesticated (we're getting there) mum, with her 2 sons from different litters (long story) and the worst for running me over during the night instead of jumping over me is the youngest, fully domesticated one we had from day 0. There's levels of joy that dissipate during witching hour, especially when my insomnia is really bad. But they make up for the bumps and crashes in the night, the mess I have to clean up in the mornings and the many paw sized bruises they've given me, each time I'm surrounded in kittyfloof snuggles, the random and unconditional 'just cos it's me-ow' kittyboops, or 'nope, I don't want anything but just you' smooches (yes, 'unconditional', which you wouldn't expect with being their servant) and when they talk, follow me everywhere just to be close or lead me somewhere to show me something interesting, the entertainment from watching them play together, playing with them and, of course, the zoomies that occur at a more appropriate hour, made better with the hilarious "What did you just do?!?" moments. Add catnip to the mix and that's a totally different story... 🥰🐈‍⬛️🐾

My favorite bit is her zoomie noises!! The grumbliest zooms!!

Could be. I know my boy has his favorite spot as well where he always gets the zoomies. Could be from how much space they have to adequately go crazy as well lol. The moment I saw the trail open up a bit, I knew she was going to start flying back and forth.

It’s the slight hill

The way Nala growled and looked up the hill when she was digging a hole, looked like she didn’t want you to go beyond that space. Keep a watchful eye. The soil on the hill could be loosely packed and she’s trying to warn/protect you. She came back to do zoomies.And, you mentioned she does that right there. Could be the scent of a dangerous animal the way she is digging the ground.

​@@ProjectOcean259totally not true. We know birds pick up bark pieces simply to enjoy catching thermals and wind surfing. We know cats love sitting in sun simply cuz it feels good. Pavlov or instinct is not always at work ALL the time in EVERY action. The amount of neo cortex folding and neural connections roughly correlates with how much "agency" an animal has. So yeah a fly is doing most everything out of instinct and the little bit of Pavlov consequence they can remember. A fish quite a bit of that also but a bit more agency. A mouse though does stuff for fun and thinks. Cats and dogs even more so. I think the neural connection hypothesis for intelligence is Steven pinker but im not sure.

​@@fungaltoe3748 patterns have meaning. Truth is. The dog only behaves the same way at the same point,,,,, for a specific reason. Whatever tht reason may be. Probably scent. Good or bad? Who knows. Dogs behave like that when they want you to follow them. I do know that. This isnt your typical "zoomies" this body language says follow me, follow me, quick follow me. Do a quick search on how dogs will act when they want you to follow.
