Ok so this is a little off topic, but pls remember you said that next time you see someone attacking a local shelter. I keep seeing people posting about how shelters kill every animal that comes in their doors. And its kinda starting to effect me. I work at a county shelter. Me and my co workers applied there because we love animals. We want to help them. And because it is a government shelter, we do have to put animals down sometimes for various reasons. Sometimes the court orders it if the dog bit a person or killed another animal. We have no say in those cases. Sometimes its because the dog is just too violent. It has a history of biting. Its been in the shelter multiple times for attacking people, and we just cant in good conscience adopt it out to a person knowing it will probably attack them at some point. Animal are just like people. Some are mean. Some have mental problems. Not every dog can be adopted out. Thats just a sad fact. Sometimes we get them and they are just in so much pain, and there is nothing we can do for them... I see people brag about how their shelter is a no kill shelter... But there is no such thing. What do you think those shelters and rescues do when they have an animal that is a danger? The give them to us... Is it really 'no kill' when a dog you were caring for is put down. just because its not by your hand? But my main point is that nobody thinks about how that effects the staff. Do you think we hired some sociopath just to murder animals? Of course not. One of us has to do it... and it kills us inside. We didn't apply at a shelter thinking that we might have to put animals down. We applied thinking we would be saving animals lives. It takes a toll... and seeing people act like we don't try to save every animal that comes in the door, does not help. Seeing people say that we just murder every animal that comes in our doors is a vicious lie. Yes there are worse shelters than ours, but i dont know of any in america that euthanize every single animal that comes in their doors. So to see people in my own county say that about us hurts.

SAME! my Chihuahua was tied to a fence for 6 years straight (her whole life), released only when she was in heat so she could, and I quote, "hoe it up", ie give birth in the gutters. She was emaciated, frostbitten, and had 2 grapefruit sized hernias hanging from her groin (from back to back pregnancies her whole life - basically her muscles ripped and her organs were hanging out to the ground). I used to go and feed her, or force my bf who rented a room at the meth house where she was chained, to take her in at night in the winter or when it rained, and I'd unchain her sometimes to put her on my lap while I ran errands. She was fed and given water so irregularly, and left out in the elements without any protection, it's truly a miracle she survived. The heat gets 120f in the summer and winter gets below freezing. Her water bowl was always filled with dust and leaves, and the occasional food was slop, like refried beans in ramen noodle water. Eventually, she started panicking for hours at a time after I would leave. The tenants said she was too irritating now that I had "showed her some love" and to please take her so they don't have to deal with the constant wailing and scratching. So now she's 12, hernias fixed, bad teeth pulled out, practically tripled in weight, such a great dog. She had terrible separation anxiety for the first year so I'd have to take her to work with me. You don't even need to leash her because she wont let you out of her sight more than maybe 30 yards. She never wants to be alone again.

There is a way to take revenge on these people, without breaking the law. If you have a drone, find others who also do, and equip the drones with night vision. Subsequently, find an area where such abuses are common. Then, photograph the faces of the culprits, their license plates, and then do a little research to find and publish the rest of their information. Specifically, upload all of this, don't go to the police, since they are not likely to care or do anything. Public opinion can cause far more problems for villains than the law can.

I’m sorry to hear of your loss. It is difficult to know that people don’t value the gift they have and abuse it instead. Sometimes it is because the person is in a bad place themselves. Sometimes they just don’t know how to care for a pet and their frustration or apathy hurts the innocent. These aren’t excuses. The people have done bad things that severally impacted another life, but it helps to consider that in some instances there might be more going on than we initially know.

The fact that Bowie is still so loving is beautiful. Most dogs would carry a resentment towards people after that. He's just the sweetest baby.

Actually they don't. In severe cases, like the dogs Michael Vicks abused, a few of them are scarred emotionally for life. The majority of rescued dogs go on to live happy lives.

The thing is, a lot of dogs don't carry resentment. It may take them a while to come around, but they are so trusting and loyal, and just so full of love, that they often learn to trust again with the right family. Some people just do not deserve the love a dog is prepared to give. All dogs ask is to be loved in return, and a bowl of food, and the odd treat now and again, and they will be your best friend for life. Dogs are just the best friend anyone can have. They just want you to be their friend too.

Not necessarily. 3 years ago we found 5 four month old pups who were thrown away in a high coyote area . They were extremely emaciated with 1 deceased when we found them 😭. Got them to our vet , got them back to a healthy weight, vaccinated, neutered and spayed and today are the most loving babies you would ever meet with no animosity towards anyone . Yes we still have all 4 of them along with our other 3 dogs ...🥰. All 7 are the reason I get up in the mornings .

It has LITERALLY been bred for over 10 millennia to be as loyal and trusting as possible to depend on us for survival-and you’re not some master of life and nature and some great care giver just because you feed your dog when you’re supposed to! So many people that fail to even raise these animals properly and then they go out and have CHILDREN?! No wonder the world is falling apart!

@@celestiafanforever I’ve had fifteen cats in over fifty-five years, and only two were not rescued. I’ve rescued over double that number, finding them excellent homes. I’ve found ferals and rescues smarter (they must be, to survive) and grateful. Extra special furry folk! For the first time since I was thirteen years old, I’ve no critters right now. Hubby and I plan to get another cat in the spring. No dogs, as I’m disabled and seriously ill so couldn’t properly care for them. The house is too quiet! I heartily recommend saving a critter rather than rewarding breeders. I’d bet money you are the same 🤗.
